To be fair, Cullen doesn't have much say about that. Of course he'd say it 1) there goes a nice paycheck and 2) he's said that Prime is his favorite role he's voiced over his many years of work (along w/ Eeyore).

On the other hand... the outcry in 1986 I would think, would make Hasbro hesitant to give any approval for a Prime-death. Beaten all to hell, on death's door - that's one thing I can see happening. Plus given the "non-fandom" outcry over Jazz's death, I would think offing a "known" character would hopefully be something that Bay & co are hesitant about in the future (TF2+).

But wow - even if it's not a "real" movie pic, and just a rendering-pic, it would reinforce the increased bot-action & fighting that happens in TF2 that Bay's hinted at.

Sort of what I was implying but it would still be kind of odd that 2 different Cons shot him in the same general area.
mdenson:
How can Prime die???

I thought Peter Cullen was signed for 3 films?
Faded-Myth:
Considering the fact he's standing there all perfectly, well, alive, despite the bullet holes, I think it's safe to say at that point in the film he's, well, ya know, not dead.
Black Oracle:
Well they could always pull one of those 'uncertain fate of a character-type' endings. We might be left not knowing exactly what becomes of Prime in the end, whether he's dead or alive after the final climactic battle. Then he could make an unexpected and triumphant return in the 3rd movie (if there is one). I envision a final scene of Prime laying, as far as we can see, very still and apparently offline on the ground, but we can't be sure whether he's just in a stasis mode or is actually dead. Wouldn't it be a reason for much discussion after the movie if fans were left guessing at Prime's fate?
Railguard:
Well I will wait to see the movie to see what happens and not speculate tooo much into this release.

Just because he is signed doesnt mean Prime has to be in the third one. Could still have a Prime voiceover for opening and closing credits, or another flashback. Could even have him voice another character.
artoni:
They could probably pull of a Prime-Dies, as long as they pull of a He-Wasn't-Quite-Dead-And-Got-Better in the third. As long as it's not such a tribute to Princess Bride/Monty Python.

Either way: PRIME GOT OWN'D.

And, since when has Bay cared about what the fans wanted?

I think it should be like that bit in Beast Wars when Blackarachnia goes into stasis lock in Silverbolt's arms...

Very touching Sam, but, he's just in stasis lock...

If the bot that did this has a humanoid natural style hand the two fingers in the middle stay closest together mostly during aggresive motions. Typical the 1st and 4 th fingers seperate out more, plus the holes do not indicate overlap they show them being side by side if anything.
no, the holes clearly overlap, if they were side by side you would see the "middle finger" hole as a perfect circle, but you dont see this, you see the "middle finger" hole with a "ring finger" hole right into it.

Also if we are to believe these are bullet holes the overlap doesnt explain the spray pattern. Typical in an automatic weapon when fired holes are evenly spaced apart and do not have the disjointed look where two shots are close together. If this isnt an automatic weapon then it means prime practically stood still to take four shots in the chest. The last piece of evidence is the diameter of the holes. Some are bigger and some are smaller does this mean 4 differant weapons all hitting the same spot?
do you really think that when they designed this battle damage they took into consideration automatic weapon spray patterns? Or that they thought about the sizes the holes should be? They battle damaged the optimus prime model..the artist sat down and placed the damage where he thought it looked best, thats all there is too it. Its not like they took a real cgi prime and ran him through a battle simulation or something so the damage would be more realistic...what you're looking at is a simple image of a battle damaged optimus prime...thats it

I think this cover actually is prepping us for Primes Demise. So everyone get happy Prime gets to die all over again . BLEH!
you're paranoid, this image might not have even been created by someone whos read the script, they could have very well given some lacky the project.

"hey bob, we need a rendering of optimus prime damaged by tuesday for the new empire magazine, can you do that for me"

"whos optimus prime?"

"nevermind that, just take this image and make him look like was ina huge fight"

"allright"
Zaraxion1021:
Oh no...... I'm getting a strange feeling Optimus Prime won't make it through this movie against the fallen.
lightdestroyed:
It doesn't matter to me. I didn't care that he died in '86 and I won't care in '09.
TFfan08:
He will not dead. But he might be very seriously damage in end of the movie.
RidgeRanger:
Pretty cool stuff.

Well fuck man havent U seen the battle at the end of the first movie??? Theres your answer genius... Its obvious...

Okay, now that you implanted that thought into my head, how do I get it out?

That was 100% Prime right there. He couldn't fight Megatron because, like Megatron stated, he still fights for the weak.. meaning us humans and Autobots. If Prime wasn't concered about human casualities he'd open up a his own can of whoop-ass on Megatron

Both of them are pretty equal though. This battle damage from ROTF looks pretty serious, cant wait to see who does this to him.

And HELL NO! Prime HAS to stay alive.
buickanddeere:
Sorry but while Prime did fine against a flunky. When it came time for combat against the capabilities of starscream or megs. Prime was 2nd rate at best and got stomped.
Even the upgraded version of Prime, UltraMagnus couldn't punch his way out of a wet paper bag.
