High Quality Chevy Beat Image and Chevy Trax Sighted at Transformers 2 Filming in Philadelphia

I thought they had announced all the new cars for Transformers 2, but apparently the Chevy Trax Concept showed up hanging out with the Trax and the Camaro. Cool! Anyone know what character this could be?

Assuming the "rumor" about the Ice Cream Truck reformatting into the BEAT is true, mayhaps the "twins" reformat into two seperate vehicles. That could be neat.

And I have to agree with TriBlurr. I am almost sure of it that the Ice Cream Truck Twins will choose these new forms for an alt mode. Think about it, it sounds so logical. These two cars look almost the same. These 2 cars have to be the Twins.

Interesting. Not sure if this will be a robot or not, but one thing I do know that is likely is that we'll probably see figures of it at some point in the line anyways.

yea the cars look the same...so i'm guessing the rumor about the twins may be true after all....now the question is are they sunstreaker and sideswipe (one is already red and the other one is already flashy) or are they completely new characters that bay has dreamt up?

Cool. The ice-cream truck brothers reformatting into these two cars seems likely, imo. Also, I personally think that they are new characters with new names, or at least with names reused for new personalities (kinda like Animated Sentinel Prime).

Honestly, even if they do carry Sideswipe and Sunstreaker names they'll probably still be more along the lines of something either Bay or the writers dreamt up character wise (assuming they even get characterization).

If those two vehicles are Sideswipe and Sunstreaker, then Bay's going right back on to my shitlist.

Top spin and Twin twist would be pretty cool names for them though, hopefully we will find out who they are soon enough.

That's if they are even Transformers. That supposedly-unused script treatment said Bumblebee and Sam started street racing when he got to college, so maybe these could be just other humans he's racing.

The green Chevy Beat shows up in a few other scenes because maybe that's the car his room-mate drives...

Just a theory, mainly because these cars are so ugly I don't want to accept them as Transformers, especially not as reformatted ice-cream brothers.

Considering the colors the cars are kinda cute.

I was looking back at the pictures for the Smithsonian car park shoot and i think you can see the Trax next to BB in oen of the Long range camera shots.. but it's too pixelated for me to be sure... I also think that the Trax is under covers behind a coverd BB from the same shoot.

If i remember correctly didn't the callsheet say that Bee was talking with the twins during that scene?

first off those two cars are ugly as hell so naturally i'd expect bay to make them tf's. if they do end up being swipe and streaker then it's just another epic failure.

Those cars are cool, especially the green one. If they are TFs then I can't wait to see what their 'bot modes look like.

Interesting enough, those cars are "brothers" in real life, they are based on the same plattform, and Chevy pulled a poll when they were introduced to decide which car was going to be produced. There was a third brother, the Chevy Groove which I believe was the the winner of the poll.

You don't have to worry about that, their names are actually Ben and Jerry.

I honestly don't see what's so great about SS and SS that it'd be an 'epic failure' or whatnot if they were these two cars. As far as I can tell, the two of them have had as much characterization in the cartoon and comics as the Movie Autobots.

True enough. The only really heavy characterization that everyone really clings to is from various fan fictions that I've read. Although, I will say that DW did start to utilize them before it went under and they were turning out kind of interesting. However, IDW is doing a great job with them so far and I look forward to seeing what they do with them.

I'm totally up for those two cars being Sideswipe & Sunstreaker for the movieverse... and if people really don't like it there's always the Universe versions comming up to hug and hold for them.

humm as much as i love to see the infamous Sunny and Sides in the movie i rather them be Lambos becasue the type of car reflects more of that eyecandy apeal, agressive/powerful and cocky mood they give off...

but if this is them then so be it, it will just be a way different take on them then before that will make them into tottaly different characters just parading under the same names to me...

i love so see what these guys look like though... those cars are cute and stylish! ^_^

Look closer, the two econo boxes are not quit identical.
They would have to hook a tow cable from the Camaro to the TRAX cars so they could keep up with the V8.
Have to wonder about using another weenie little car & small transformer character. They wouldn't fair any better in a fight than the lightweight Jazz.
They already have ARCEE who will be small enough to walk through/under/between or sit in/on anything a human being can.
Might be trying to make the "tree huggers" happy? Or promoting the econo boxes for GM?

I like the idea that these are just two non previously related bots that are now twins, as stated above, Cliffjumper and Hubcap.


There's many TF's out there and because they're twins doesn't mean we have to strictly follow G1 law, for all we know it could be Sideburn and X-Brawn!

Those cars are kinda ugly. They wouldn't be that bad, but they seem like they're sitting too far in the air.

I think they're ugly as sin m'self, and would prefer they not be Sunstreaker/Sideswipe...but at least it's a step up from a friggin' ice cream truck if the reformatting bit turns out to be accurate.

Man, I was really excited for the Beat, but those side-graphics are just hideous.

Why does every car used in this movie have to be some brand new, spotless, shiny concept car?

The ice cream truck concept is brilliant because it's a unique disguise, and it would add variety to the robot cast! So many fans are forgetting that this movie series is (or should be) about robots in disguise, not robots in flashy "look-at-this-new-car-that's-coming-out-next-year" styled armour.

I don't think Orci and the other writers would mess up as much as Make the Lambo Bros. these, I also think Bay wouldn't ether, personally I think bay would love the two and make they the Lambos they should be. Im up for Cliffy/Hubcap and TopSpin/TwinTwist.

It's a Bay movie... that's, just the way it is.

Wow, those are AWESOME cars! I LOOOOOOOOOVE the fact that the movie is going to use smaller cars to show how Americans have finally wised up and switched to smaller, much cooler styled cars than those rectangular behemoths called SUVs!!! Yay!

Tho I'd rather they be Runabout and Runamuck or Topspin/Twintwist instead of SS/SS. I also wish that it was the Scion xB and the Honda Fit instead of GM's stuff. Those are soooo cool! :-D :-D

I like them alot, especially if they are twins, and like to race. I also don't care if they are known characters. Personally, I would like to see them blown up as Autobots. They seem like they could be both cocky and flashy.

At first, I pictured the red one as Cliffjumper, but then I saw the other one. If they aren't Sunstreaker 'n Sideswipe, I don't know who they are.

I just don't think these two cars will have any connection to the Ice Cream truck twins because the Ice Cream truck is said to be two robots that split apart in robot form. Individually, they'd have to mass-shift to become those cars.

Besides, if 'Streaker 'n 'Swipe have no connection with the Ice Cream truck, we'd have more robots!

Or maybe even Gears and Brawn (Yea I know their not twins).

i kind of agree with you only on these parts. these new (actually old since 2007) concepts Bay is using are really cool and a good idea. but on the other hand these are only concepts and everyone knows that GM may or never actually produce those two (the beat and trax) ever, even though they did a poll about a year ago to see which one people would like to see as a production model. and as for using the SS and SS G1 names does not fit thier movie characters well (at least the visual perspective that is). they are more likely Topspin and Twin Twist or something Bay can pull out of his ass that works with the design of the two chevy concepts.

These aren't production cars off a chevy lot... You have to understand that these are concept cars that have been re-created as stunt vehicles for the movie. They wouldn't go through all that for vehicles that aren't integral to the film.

If they were production cars that you can go buy off a lot right now, what you said would make sense, but that's not the case.

That would be agreeable if these were not concept cars we are looking at.

Granted they are ugly and dont match up to the concept camaro but them being concept designs they are very VERY expensive and they would not be using them as simple vehicle extras unless they were to be actual characters.

Id bet money thats Sunstreaker and Sideswipe the most notable twins in transformers lore and pretty much the only ones depending on who you ask. Besides its not like Bay cared when he gave Brawl Devastators name and didnt even give him a single speaking line.

Biggest problem there is that really this is Mike Bay's Transformers not yours not mine but his. Honestly I just wish he had more respect for the transformers background. Its nice he gets that they are really cool transforming living robots but they need that backstory and interaction to be appealing. The first movie wasnt that spectacular because the main attractiion ( the transformers) never got fleshed out character wise. It was a bunch of one liners to keep the scene moving. The best line and interaction was when megatron tells prime they dont deserve to live and prime says they deserve to choose for them selves. If only that fight scene was the highlight and not some stupid kid killing a 40 foot tall robot in a way he has no idea about.

For me all can be set ok if the Corvett ends up Blue and is tracks.
