Following the success of the first Michael Bay Live Action Transformers Movie back in 2007, Hasbro worked with movie studios around the world to bring your childhood toys into the big-screen. From toys such as G. I. Joe to board games like Battleship and Ouija, Hasbro is a live action movie machine with more live action movies such as Jem And The Holograms and Candyland down the pipeline.
It so happens that TFW2005 has stumbled upon another possible live action movie and a toyline from Hasbro. Once rivals of the Transformers Franchise (1984), Gobots became the property of Hasbro when they acquired Tonka; the original creators of Gobots.
On January 21st and on January 24th, Hasbro has applied for a new Go-Bots trademark (this is not a renewal) under “distribution of motion pictures, ongoing television programs” and “Toys, games and playthings, namely, toy vehicles and accessories for use therewith“.
You can check out the Trademark documents from the United States Patent & Trademark Office here and here.

So GoBots might be in the Hasbro Movie Universe along side G.I. Joe, Micronauts and D&D as well as M.A.S.K., Rom, and Visionaries. Seeing how in 2015 they announced the Writers Room for the Hasbro Movie Universe, also in 2015 Hasbro and Paramount announced that they are going to make a Beyblade movie so that might be in the Hasbro Movie Universe as well.

I hope Hasbro does great things with this license
Cattus Doctus
Yep, absolutely. Even boxed, minty Japanese originals are highly affordable.

I'm pretty sure bay has been confirmed to not be directing tf5 at this point anyway.

Thats the big thing here. Gobots are humans minds put in robots. It's a whole planet turned into machines! They didn't have a choice also! How would humans deal with this if everyone on earth was turned into a transforming robot! How would they keep order when a 5 year old kid might now be able to turn into a huge tank or a gun! This could make a great live action movie if done right!
Also keep bay away from gobots! Half the gobots are female and we know from arcee that bay hates "ugly female robots!" (his own words!)

That's all I want from this. Gimme an MP Leader-1, Cy-Kill, Fitor, Turbo, Staks, etc.

Hmm … interesting.

Way too many folks sleep on Gobots. There are some really great figures and some very accurate vehicle modes in that line. I'm totaly fine with the majority of fans not collecting gobots though, it keeps the prices down.
Dolza_Khyron
they own gobots. surely they can.
gobots are much MUCh better then people give them credit for, here.
while i like broadside, Man-O-War, is clearly the better figure. Pathfinder vs cosmos, i like pathfinder more, same goes for smallfoot vs gears. to me they are clearly the better figures.
if you compare the smaller transformers to the gobots, both of which are simple. gobots easily competes. sure shockwave is cool, and one of the best decepticon toys ever. but one also can not deny that that gobot laser gun, is awesome.
they are quite amazing figures, for being roughly the size of hotwheels.
especially if you compare to them to other transforming toys, the same size.
and their combiner, did have the benefit of being able to do this. and that,
and their model kits were pretty awesome too. would make harmony gold cry today.
and the gobot tanks and then there is this one.

Can Hasbro ever put out a Transformers Vs. Gobots animated movie?
Xabungle
So, am I the only one who would still be totally excited if this was a DVD release by shout factory of the three or four episodes of animation produced for the preschool versions of Gobots from around the Unicron trilogy era?
I'm a fiction completist since selling most of my toys, and two of the episodes only exist in vhs quality downloads… so even that would be cool to me.
G1Prowl
They did a Crasher homage in the first Movie line, it was a repaint of Classics Mirage, and a damn fine toy at that.
seali_me
I knew it all along. You are a Gobot fan.
But yeah that combiner is a thing of beauty.
Also is that Toyota Trueno somewhere in there?

Is it just me, or is it possible that Transformers has gone on as long as it can, and Go-bots is planned as it's replacement, with a completely new story? If so, could we be in for Generations quality Go-Bots? I mean, how many times can Hasbro keep re-making Optimus Prime? If so, I'm almost relieved! In a sad kind of way. Like being thankful that a loved one is finally dead and no longer suffering.
(waiting for the flames)

Sounds like the new age under Five line when Rescue bots ends.

The 25 Gobots That Could Most Easily Pass As Transformers

I had a lot of Go-Bots toys, but only one diaclone jet toy. I watched both TF and GB as a small gaffer and loved them both about the same, but if both was on at the same time, I'd always watched TF over GB.
I still have a soft spot for GB, and since my GB toys were long since broken and thrown out, I didn't have any until I was in my mid adult life now. However the only one GB toy that I needed to have was Dive-Dive. He was my favorite GB toy that had quite the transformation that's involved and still fun to do for such a small thing. Though I have to be gentle since the diecast can easily wear out to a floppy mess, as I discovered in my youth.
I didn't know that the GB was on DVD, I'm gonna have to track them down now.
But I'm afraid that I have to echo everyone else that Hasbro's Go-Bots has nothing to do with Challenge of the Go-Bots.

Crasher was a cool character, she would have made a good Decepticon.
Anyone remember the larger Leader 1 figure they made, I remember when I was a kid, someone I ran into had it, and I was in awe. It seemed cooler than a lot of the TF's as the time.
That is one thing I remember about the Go-bots is they made Leader 1 and Cykill in different size classes.
Cosmoglide
i had the yellow sports car as a kid but that was it. I would be over the moon if Hasbro started releasing generations style Gobots. i loved both shows equally as a kid.
megatroptimus
True that! Fully integrated, no need to add bazillion extra parts like G1 combiners. And a lot of Super Gobots had pretty complex transformation for the time compared to Transformers. Spay-C was particularly awesome.
