Full voice cast: Optimus Prime - Peter Cullen Bumblebee - Does not speak in the film Ratchet - Robert Foxworth Ironhide - Jess Harnell Sideswipe - Andre Sogliuzzo Arcee - Grey DeLisle Jetfire - Mark Ryan Mudflap - Reno Wilson Skids - Tom Kenny Wheelie - Tom Kenny Jolt - Does not speak in the film Megatron - Hugo Weaving Starscream - Charles Adler Soundwave - Frank Welker (but lacking the vocodered voice) The Fallen - Tony Todd Scalpel "The Doctor" - John DiCrosta Demolishor also speaks, although the various other Constructicons do not. Devastator reportedly just grunts and roars, so there is no confirmation if Frank Welker is providing his voice. Additionally Kevin Michael Richardson provides the voice of an ancient Transformer seen in one sequence.

soundwave's voice isn't synthesized? i won't believe it until i see it.
fallen_revenge:
i heard that andy anderson is voicing jolt
Optimus1986:
Aww, I wanted Constructicon dialogue. So much for all of these "confirmed" VAs.
TF@TM:
I'm sure Welker voiced three characters according to the credits, but its been over a week since I saw it. Glad it wasnt just me who thought Soundwave was just Doctor Claw.

I would say that if he DID do another character, though, that it was just roaring and growling - he definitely didn't do *dialogue* for anyone else. Maybe Ravage!

That pisses...me...off...!
Maybe it's too much to hope they fixed it for release in the US?
Mikey246:
I've read on a few other movie sites that jess harnell is also doing barricade again, is he in revenge of the fallen or did he just dissapear into the bayverse.

Lord Of Tetris:
Aw man. No voice actor for Blackout? Does he even speak this time? It seems like a waste to bring him back and not have him speak...
Also: Does the movie have more or less robot-speaking than TF1?

You know, in regular movies, there's often TONS of people around who don't speak. Nameless henchmen and so-forth. Why is everyone bummed the CCs don't speak? Not every single person can get a speaking role in a two-hour movie.
If this was a show or something I'd probably wonder, too. But in a movie there's always stuff to consider. | I don't really mind the constructicons not speaking, they have no need for it really, it's more noticable that Jolt doesn't talk, he doesn't even say ok or yes sir when asked to do something.
Skids and Mudflap do have different voices but they work well and it seems conceivable that they are brothers. Quote:

Also: Does the movie have more or less robot-speaking than TF1? | more, much much more, if only because Skids and Mudflap squabble all the time with eachother or having a go at leo because he's a wimp and doesn't stop moaning. I don't think Grindor spoke, he was only in one scene before the battle in the forest. (and that was where I decided to go to the toilet, boy do i regret deciding to go there and missing Optimus opening a can of whupass.
oh well, probably gonna go see it again next week blackout501st:
dam! no suesan blue and no john tutturo? thats lame!

first jolt was supposed to be voiced by anthony anderson?i am sad now.

Did Arcee die in the movie like Jazz did the first time he was in it?

Knowing how it's cheaper to re-use models, I think Arcee would come back in TF3.
neospark1:
WHAT. THE. HELLS!!!!
They did not vocode Soundwave's voice? What a crock of utter bullshit. Mr. writers were all like "we need to do Soundwave right" and they BLEW the one and most oustanding aspect of the character.
Losers = Anyone that had a hand in not doing Soundwave' voice the RIGHT WAY!

Shadow25:
I'm going to be honest, I did not mind Prime not permanently having a mouth plate in TF1, but Soundwave's voice is even more defining than that and it just proves how stubborn Bay is. He handles all this stuff, just like Brawlastator, and Bob Orci already said they reminded Bay to do the vocoder. So maybe he just refused to do it, like he refused to give Arcee more screen time. Then again, maybe he could have been reminded more.
blackout501st:
well, mark ryan and the other chick who is gonna voice arcee are good anyway. so it isnt all that bad.
Transformed:
I saw it today myself in Japan, and I have to say the movie was even better than I had hoped it would be
The Twins are pretty funny and they will blow your frickin' head wide open when you see them in action, kidders!
Welker was credited for three characters: Soundwave (Dr. Claw voice), Devastator and a name I cannot recall for the life of me, not a Transformer though, it sounded like a surname, perhaps a soldier's voice on the radio.
I saw the movie with a buddy of mine and we ended up talking through the credits, so I missed a bunch of names myself, but I sure would like to see this again; 1,800 yen a pop is all that's keeping me from seeing it again tomorrow.
Optimus is a serious Bad Ass, well, all the autobots are actually, but NO ONE takes on an army of Decepticons like Prime does.

Then again, maybe he could have been reminded more. | Honestly, I wouldn't have felt as annoyed by it if I'd felt as though it was a creative decision, but to me it felt like they just forgot. How you react to Soundwave in the film is an issue of personal taste, but I feel it's hard to deny that there was an intent to do the character faithfully. He's the communications specialist. He acts as a spy. His altmode is sound-based. His head design is G1-esque, he launches Ravage out of his chest, his syntax is blunt and robotic, they cast Frank Welker and got him to do his "Soundwave voice". That they didn't add the synthesiser ultimately prevents the whole thing from coming together like it should have, but if Bay really didn't care about being faithful then why would he have gone that far to make him G1-accurate in the first place?
Like I said, I really suspect this was the result of simple rushed editing, and I hope they can do something to fix it for the DVD. Frank's Dr Claw voice is always cool, and it does work pretty well for the character anyway, but I just can't help be frustrated at what might have been.
...though having said that, maybe the whole affair was a G1 homage, just a really obscure one? Cyber-Scream:
Why doesn't Bumblebee talk? He got his voice back in the end of the first movie!!! Ugh... Spin-Out:
Well, I'm glad Jason Griffith doesn't voice Sideswipe...
Destructicons:
i'm really pissed off with soundwave

are these ALL the characters in the movie or are there more? cause i thought we were supposed to get over 60, or are they just "drones/backgrounds"?

Arcee is Vicky the Babysitter?!
Bumblebee doesn't speak...again?!
No vocorder for Soundwave?! I thought Roberto Orci said he would have the vocorder voice
Mark Ryan as Jetfire makes a little more sense than John Turturro. He almost sounded like video game Ironhide in the preview he first appeared in.

Rijie78:
Not sure where the Turturro-as-Jetfire thing came from in the first place, IMDB presumably - who are often useful but aren't infallible.
Wasn't bothered by the "oh noes soundwave not geewun" thing, doesn't matter. His voice had a perfectly acceptable unemotional hiss to it, and I liked what part his character did play. Hopefully he'll be back for the third film one way or the other.

Famitsu, a Japanese video game magazine which ran a story on Transformers: Revenge (the Japanese title) stated that there are indeed more than 60 Transformers in this film; however, most of them are clones of others (e.g. various Constructicons, Bone Crusher, Blackout, a bunch of household appliance bots, and Protoform bots getting shot left and right on screen--if you aren't careful you might miss Jolt; he's the Yakface of Transformers! Did any see Barricade? I didn't see him...

As far as Leonard Nimoy, I don't think Bay chickened out, I'm sure Nimoy decided not to do it, or it was a creative decision.
I'm actually not too upset about Soundwave's voice, as it doesn't really make sense for one robot to sound more... robotic. Maybe they thought non-fans would have issue with that. I doubt it was something they just overlooked, someone mentioned Welker didn't like them doing the vocoder originally, and if that's true this might have been his request..
nemesisconvoy:
Who does Frank welker voice, and is Optimus Prime voiced by Peter Cullen?
JonnyT:
Just saw it myself, and can confirm that none other than Michael York (Three/Four Muskateers, Logan's Run, Austin Powers) was credited as the voice of the lead ancient Prime in Sam's vision.

Because... I mean... it... it was Kevin Michael Richardson's voice. I mean... it just... WAS. It was a deep, booming, American voice. There... WERE two voices in that scene, though, but "Richardson" was the one who talked the most... it.. there's.. there's just no WAY that voice was Michael York's... Mind... not processing... brain... spasming... sorry for the misinformation if I've called this one wrong, guys. It was the only credit of those I've reported that I didn't actually read on-screen - I was just so certain purely from hearing the voice.
Cinemastique:
I have to add my voice to the outrage. Hearing Soundwave's vocodered voice was like the top thing on my list. Above Devastator.
Maybe I'm being too "Geewun," but there are certain things I *need*. I'm not a Bayformers Hater. I love the quadruped Devastator design. I love Bumblebee as a Camaro (and did, even when the haters were hatin'. I don't mind Prime's mouth, even though the faceplate looks much better. But Soundwave isn't SOUNDWAVE without his voice.
vvv SPOILERS vvvv
No vocodered voice, no minions, no Robot Mode. This is what they call "Doing Him Right... how is this even still Soundwave?
Scantron:
Glad to hear they decided not to use the vocoder on Soundwave. Not that I have any problem with the effect, per se, just that it tends to be overdone and makes the character virtually incomprehensible (ie - Animated Soundwave).

Kaijumaster:
yet again a film where most of the Title characters ....have nothing to do with the actual film.
