 | | | First Look: Transformers Revenge of the Fallen Megatron Robot Mode | | Posted on 09-16-2008 at 02:02 PM by Sol Fury | | 2005 Boards Member S250 has shared an image of the robot mode of the one and only Decepticon warlord Megatron in his new form from Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen with us! You can check out the image by clicking on the thumbnail to the left. Particularly exciting about this new design is that Megatron is sporting some sort of advanced cannon on his right arm - could this be the new Movie's take on Megatron's famous fusion cannon? Join in the discussion on our 2005 Boards and share your speculations!

Looks like shit. I'd love if he looked like Animated Earth Megs but with a cybertronian tank alt mode.
webz:
Anyone think that his one arm is only in "Weapon mode"? It looks the same as his regular fusion canon arms from the movie. The movie's canon was really thin and frail looking. I think it's just a 1/2 & 1/2 one side shows regular hand, one side shows the gun.
Waveride:
He looks nothing like his tank mode unless his tank is all chromed/silver.

Honestly Bay you got most of the bots right what the hell do you have against Megatron. He looks like the biggest FAIL .

my god this movie seemed so promising till I saw this pic and realized he really is the Fallen.
OmegaVPrime:
This must be an early concept, plus if you remember in the movie, he didn't have an arm when the dropped him in the merionas trench or whatever... So that could explain it
Anyways, yes his legs do likke treads, dought he will be a tank though
HE IS A ZOMBIE!!
Take that poho, posted it before you PrimePower04: Quote:

DarkKnightPrime:
Let the insanley overactive fanboys, worthless and unthought out comments BEGIN! Looks great, the arms kinda kinky but the rest is cool.
dmc2008:
Megatron.. is that you??
Here's a hint!

I didn't know you roled that way DarkKnightPrime ?
TheMinttu:
Maybe he turns into a gun, like Galvatron in G1? Might explain the "tank" treads, silver/chrome, Cybertron-y design and the cannon. I remember someone saying that there is going to be a gun-mode TF in the game.

Yonfamus:
Three years of reading this website 5 times a day, and I finally have to post because of this mess. I took everything else, and learned to like it, but if it's true that the powers that be read these forums and tweak characters based on our reaction, then I have to scream from the top of the hills. This megatron is poop. He has a cattleprod for a gun. Is that intimitading? He's going to poke you? The Walther P-38 didn't point it's skinny little gun barrel at you in robot mode. It pointed it's big a** scope.
My take....
before..
Also, hello all.
RedAlert Rescue:
It looks like a Bayformers version of Transtech Megatron to me.
PrimePower04: I Do hope he does not have TEETH this time!!!!!!!!!1
NIDARAM12:
If I learned anything it's that alot of the orthographic concept art for the first movie was really shitty.
It's best to wait for the first renders to get an idea of what they will really look like. I mean look at the difference between Blackout the art and blackout the model. Same with Starscream.
Turnpike:
(Awesome work there, Yonfamus!!)
nostalgia-raping, G1 fanboy- and bayformer-ism aside...
Cybertron-Tank-Megatron-Thing-With-Paperclip-Arm? O_o
Interesting. Looks like his face is much more "human".
Looks like they are going for more of a sleeker, "less is more" design approach this time, rather than having everything overly detailed, like in the first film.
Looks interesting. Honestly, I prefer the Megs from the first movie. xD
Can't wait to see how this guy will look like in full 3D.
OmegaVPrime:
You know what i'm going to have to disagree with my self....
It does look alot like a tank mode...maybe megatron has one of his henchmen repair him enough to mobolize into some sort of tank...
OR
Possible he scans a tank mode to regain a little strength...but doesn't use the color scheme to instead, match him like a suit of armour
rdarkstream:
boring as the first.
I dub thee Old man Megs
seeker311:
Ya know, alot of us complained when we saw the initial art work of the Megatron for TF1, but when he was shown in 3D and ultimately in the movie, he was actually very impressive. I think the same will be for this guy if it indeed comes out to be this design.
Optimatron:
I think this design looks retarded. like Quasi-modo with a little arm wearing armor from Soul Caliber..this doesn't fuckin' look like Megatron should in my opinion. Or a robot. When are they gonna make a descent looking Megatron??
On a side...does anyone else think it's too early for Megatron's return? I was hoping they were gonna save his return for the third installment.
defstar:
I agree...this isn't Megatron...just a stupid looking alien robot... Scourge_151:
Looks nicely different from the first movie megs, I concur with the damaged arm theory, he did have spindly fingers before but he was built pretty stocky.
dark69:
looks better then last time

But it seems they tried their best with megs.
Mister Gone:
Awww, he's handi-capable.
younghotrod7:
hmm looks kind of galvatronish to me
SKowl:
Ok, in my last post in this thread, I said I liked the new design.
Then I took a nap.
Then I looked at it again.
Now I think it looks retarded.
Seriously, he looks like he'll tip over to one side if he tries to walk around...
Supremus:
*Sigh*... I was hoping for a B-2 bomber... or even the SR-71...
But this... it manages to be WORSE than the first one, simply because it tries to be more solid in some places, while retaining the same "spikeness" in others... it's a veritable mess.
And again it will not have an earth mode.
dragon_lord:
for some reason his left hand remind me to this: NormanB:
Cancel the movie and shut down the internet.
This possibly official concept art has convinced me that everything new will suck forever.
Boo.
Fail.
SKowl:
It's strange, I loved most of the designs for the first film, and I adored the movie design aesthetic. I loved the weird bot modes and the bug heads, I loved the splintered metal and the sharp angles.
But the new designs aren't really doing it for me.
Robot after robot, I'm being disappointed more often that I'm being thrilled. Corvette guy is cool, but the Trax looks like a shorter, fatter Bumblebee with a stupid head. The Audi, if he isn't Barricade, looks way too much like him, and now this stupid new Megatron... at this rate I don't even want to see what they've done to Jetfire, Soundwave and Arcee...

Soundwave84:
Very interesting we need some confirmation from Bay
VokVisitor:
First Megatron was a monstrous "lord high protector" turned evil overlord.
Now he's got a gimp arm and a hunch back.
Megatron = Richard III
deathonacracker:
let the rumor be true that he helps the Autobots....
there is so much they can still do with Megs without bringing in "the fallen"....
no "fallen" PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
SPLIT LIP:
If I remember correctly, his arm and leg were missing in the first movie. (arm went missing after the battle, though, since he was only shown without it while beingdumped into teh ocean) Maybe they couldn't "grow" it all back?
Badass, regardless. Looks a lot more G1-ny with the more solid chest, legs and arm, but I'm glad they left the head relatively the same.
salmonman78:
interesting. forgive me for skip-browsing at work but has anyone thought of the arms, possibly being like the first movie?
They combined to make the cannon, maybe this time they have him think "oh if I didn't have to squat to use it, might be nice" so this time he slaps his arms together and parts of the arm disengage the left arm and merge with the right one to make the cannon.
Just my theory.
Apriorion:
I must also voice the opinion that the "gun" thing is too elongated and slender--it appears too fragile to be threatening.
As for the overall design aesthetic, I'm not that worried. First time 'round, I was shocked by Bay's take on the transformers, but it makes more sense to me now, given that they are supposed to be aliens, after all. So even though this concept art doesn't strike me as super-awesome, I'm sure it'll rock on the screen, just as Megatron did in the first. The only thing that is required, now that we know he's coming back, is WAY more of the Starscream/Megatron dynamic, whether it be bickering or full-on Megatron destroying Starscream (as we got in the leaked treatment for TF2).

shroobmaster:
Now that I look at that Megatron again, I noticed, that thing WILL be damned badass.
By the way doesn't this kind of kills all the MEGATRON WILL NOT BE IN TF2 inside sources?

I don't understand why everyone is working themselves into such a lather over this, remember the original concept arts? They looked way worse than this but looked amazing on the big screen. So with that logic in mind, these should look even better. I'd also like to add that I'm pretty sure his arm isn't like that by choice, he may have just gotten cobbled together and zapped back to life and went to kill Autobots before he was finished.
Mega-con:
He looks like Capital One's Armadillo Man.
rapid_fire:
so instead of a cybertonian jet, now he's a cybertronian tank
coooool!

Considering what he was put through in movie one, I'd say it's lucky just his arm is FUBAR.
Then again, it could very well be like with the first concept. That one had skiny arms, too.
This deffinately does not look final. When we get some CGI pics, then I'll put my analysis pants on.
Waveride:
Skowl, i have the small image of the tank that the source sent me awhile ago and it doesn't look cybertronian.
