You can check out the image by clicking on the thumbnail to the left. Particularly exciting about this new design is that Megatron is sporting some sort of advanced cannon on his right arm - could this be the new Movie's take on Megatron's famous fusion cannon? Join in the discussion on our 2005 Boards and share your speculations!

I was never a huge fan of the original movie Megatron, funny how they go and change it now that I've finally gotten used to it (and dare I say, learning to like it?). My favourite part was the jet mode, sad to see that gone...
Still, I kind of like this new look. Looks more like a "Megatron" should, it has the strong silhouette and the distinctiveness that I was looking for the first time around. Overall, I do like it, surprisingly. Quote:

We have a winner! | I think it's the shoulderpads - they add some needed bulk.
I quite like their addition.
Dropshot:
I loved the designs for Megs in teh first movie, but I was expecting a little more for this one, it's just that it looks too gundam-esque.
G1Wheeljack:
That "gun" looks more like the lance that Jazz came with.
Fosterlager:
Never cared for movie Megatron's first design and this doesn't change that opinion. I won't be buying any toys based on this design.
trilobitepictures:
Seibertron.com CLAIMS they have a spy that says that Megatron is not coming back. So, THIS could be misinformation. Or, THEIR news could be BS... either way, how would you like your grain of salt?
Thundercrackah:
Nice! Looks cool, apart from the small arm, which is definitely the one he is missing when he's dumped in the ocean.
Megatron was the only design it took me a while to get used to from movie 1, this one looks a bit nicer already.
NIDARAM12:
So question: Is the person leaking these just sending you super low res because somehow it isn't as "bad" or are you just providing us with smaller resolution so you yourself don't get in as much trouble?
Also it's still a crime that there is no artbook for the first movie.
Santoanderson:
If you look closely some of his "panels" appear a little more machine-like (IE Earth Vehicle-ish) than before. Look at his thighs, at the squarish pieces, those look a lot less Cybertronian than the last film. However he still looks like a crab salad everywhere else....
Digilaut:
FAIL....
I actually liked the first movie Meg (although he was very different in design from G1)..but I was kind of hoping that, if he were to get an Earth alt mode in the next movie, he'd get more design elements from his G1 self (different helmet, fusion cannon).
Now it just seems they ignored the bodyparts where they could add these changes and have come up with something that makes zero sense. Really missed a great opportunity here.
Really hoping this isn't final stage work and the real Megatron will look different. Sol Fury: Quote:

I also trust Phillyfilmgirl who described a scene that involves Megatron. Two different people, both suggesting that Megatron is still about.
Also, Bob Orci pretty much confirmed Megatron the other week when he said they'd talked about doing Galvatron as Megatron reborn.
Scourgatron:
Maybe they use pieces of Jazz to repair Megatron? That would make good drama him being haunted by the robot he ripped in half.
Not liking the baby arm either.
He had a cannon in that hand already in the first movie when he came around the corner and shot at Jazz and Ratchet right when he arrived in Mission City.
battlefudge:
Does anyone else think this looks a little, well, amateur? There is some thing about his proportions, (and I don't mean the arm) he just looks top heavy and not very scary.
I don't know. If it is concept then I want to see what it looks like 3d, then updated for the screen. If not, meh.

| Uh, no? this looks nothing like anything from any gundam series ever.

SmokescreenGT:
I like it, but I'm not too keen on the small left arm. Although, he doesn't look like he'll turn into an Earth form which is what I was hoping for, unless he changes at some point in the film.
protostar8:
If it's real, it looks horrible. Less fragmented than the last film, but all the silver characters with no real paint schemes other than different shades of silver...
And the design still sucks too. Better than before, but not by much. I honestly thought making them look less fragmented would help a lot, but now I don't really think so. I just think the designs fail no matter how solid or fragmented they are.
I can kinda understand the Gundam vibe b/c his knee caps and right arm both make me think of the GP-03 docked with it's giant power-up gear from Gundam 0083.
jtuarus:
i want to get in before its pulled and i think he looks good even with the weak arm it makes it lookm like hes been thru hell and back.
thecypher0:
Both sources could be correct with him not "coming back" but being in the film. This could be a "flashback" to cybertron at the beginning of the war or possibly a hallucination. It could be anything at this point
Optimus Crab:
Wow, pretty cool. I like the bulkier look, it makes him seem more megs-ish. I actually like the asymmetry as well, it looks like some kind of creepy droid hand from Star Wars.
Ultimate Matt X:
Sorry if someone has already said this, but I doubt the arm will look all that small in the actual movie. Designs for the first movie didn't look all that different before the movie, but I don't think his arms looked all that small in the actual movie.
grock35:
i'm not diggin' the tiny arm
Satomiblood:
I'm going with the notion that he was brought back with parts from Brawl, Blackout, and Bonecrusher, although the tank parts are much more apparent than everything else. The "tiny arm" looks like battle damage from the previous movie.
DieMaus:
Well, I'd be lying if I said that I was blown away, but this image, if real, does incorporate a number of design traits that I had hoped for from TF2 Megatron; less twisted metal, more solid plating, increased overall bulk and, of course, a permanent arm cannon. I'm sure that I'll warm up to this once I've seen it in full-motion ILM glory, just like I did with TF1's Megatron.
Also, a point relating to Apriorion's triple changer idea: am I the only one seeing hints of a jet nosecone on the chest here? Maybe it's because I just bought Animated Blitzwing and have been poring over him all day, but when you factor in the tank tread legs, I can't help but seeing hints of him here. Anyone else, or am I imagining it?
PS - Oh yeah, other major point: this means Megatron IS back, just in time to hook up with Soundwave and Devastator. Awesome. Red leader:
Hello Galvatron
TheBigMachine:
This is definitely official? Kind of looks like fan art. I'm hoping they'll give megatron a more definite form like a tank, cannon or something not so close to his protoform. Maybe I'm alone on this...I dunno. The left arm really does look like a sad atrophied (sp?) limb though.
ShortCircuit:
oh ya, I see lots of TF2 "magic" and "lies" in that one.....
ick. so lame.
vektsilver:
I see tank treads for the feet
That pic does seem fake for one reason. He has a new alt mode an if it is a human vehicle there are no silver tanks. Never mind that somebody tell of something that has tank treads and is that silver.
fastballspecial:
I'm pretty sure that weak looking arm is because he is rebuilt this movie from parts that aren't satisfactory or something like that. Sooooo glad he's back though, if in fact this does confirm he's back.
neospark1:
HOLY CRAP! Coolio!
Storm:
I feel a right tard now for just noticing how much his head emulates the decepticon ensignia.
DOWNFORCE:
i think this is a first movie design
B-Fox:
Looks like "Megatron the Shell Bullet" to me.

Wow, that's awful. I hope this isn't the actual design for Megatron. Exactly what makes us believe this is legit?

How badly are they gonna keep F@#$ing up Megatron in every movie.
UGHHHHH this is not making the day any better.
IM Praying for the misenformation fairy right bout now
Alienbot:
They have given him an arm gun, but there was much rejoicing (and complaining).
PrimePower04:
IM assuming the tiny left arm..is his chain axe thing...
HOWEVER...If this is ROTF Megs, what is the character on the covers of the comics recently released??? Could it be Devastator? I dont think, i would think Devastator would be bigger and be way more top heavy! (gorilla strength)...It might be The Fallen.

Not even the American writers can leave Megatron dead. How does one's body remain repairable, even if he is an alien robot, the enormous underwater pressure at the bottom of the ocean?
The Allspark, the force that created Cybertron, was shoved into his chest, ignited and soon after extinguished his Spark core. THEN he gets dropped into the bottom of a deep part of the ocean where the pressure would surely crush his body and bury what little remains afterwards underneath layers of sand.
EDIT: Ugh...I can see such a horrible revival story coming out of this. Almost as bad as RID Fort Max being powered by "the children of earth". Perhaps worse if the story is bad enough.
Come on...let Starscream have a chance FOR ONCE!
Weekend Gamer:
You got to be kidding me. He still looks like a crusty blob, only much worse. What the fuck is wrong with these designers?
DecepticonsRule:
It would explain what would happen to his arm. Remember what happened to his arm at the end of the first movie, he was missing it when he was dumped into the Laurentian Abyss.
optimusdestruction:
Oh man, I trust Mike bay with the designs after the first movie. But I just puked in my mouth! Please be fake! please be fake! please be fake!
Wing alpha:
that looks like the gurren nishiki-from code geass to me.
-the skiny arm and beefy arm....and teh threads.

That's Wreckage.....
Devastattor:
I don't know what to think about this. Is he going to bother having an Earth mode this time around?
I'd rather see Megatron cobbled together from other bits of the guys dumped at the bottom of the abyss, like he had to do whatever it took in the short term to repair himself.
So far, this looks like crap-again. Hope it's fake.

Maybe he will be in the film | Well, he was working with S7 in Reign of Starscream, and he's standing over S7 buggies, and he looks like the Wreckage character toy and comic-wise......
Eric:
Very interesting. I actually like the fact that his left arm is critically damaged. Gives him a more "war-torn" look.
Poho:
i do not approve. he should remain dead, or at least come back blue. lol
Torque:
im figuring that in Movie one, he was Megatron. in Movie two, he is some sort of Salvaged Megatron. Movie 3-finished upgrading himself, becomes Galvatron.
but i like the new look, esp. the mangled arm, adds a touch of realism-sorta like Ironhide's eye. suh-weet
