Chevrolet Volt to be Featured in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen

The Volt looks a lot like the Saab concept car that was rumored to be in the film.

Movie Blaster or Blurr who that will be.

They never said it would be an autobot or decepticon.......guess we'll have to wait for spy shots to determine this bot's colors...

That's exactly what I first thought when I saw it. I think that's a better Wheeljack then a Mustang any day.

is anyone else getting tired of seeing all these chevy's? I guess chevy has deal with michael bay but i would like to see some variety. maybe it's just me and i know car companies like VW don't want things to do with war, but i'm sure Honda, Ford, Dodge or Toyota would like to get a part of the action. i guess i'm just tired of hearing about so many chevy's in this movie

Nope, I like GM cars and since I own a Camaro, Chevy is my favorite.

They do have a deal, and they're also providing million dollar concepts to be used in the film for free. Don't expect them to go anywhere any time soon.

i would have to agree with you , grimmlock! As much as we fans want, it is hard for them to get other car companies to take part. 1)requires more $$$$$$ to license more than 1 company, 2)as you mentioned above, 3) some companies just don't want to take part(correct me if i'm wrong)

Looks like GM is finally starting to realize how the world has changed. Putting in 2 subcompacts like the Beat and Trax and a new plug-in electric car like the Volt will do a lot of good for the company over the long haul.

The Volt definitely looks like Wheeljack more than any other Autobot. It even fits Wheeljack's "mad scientist" stereotype as the Volt is an experimental electric car. It would be something I could see Wheeljack choosing.

However, in terms of environmentally friendliness, it could also be Hound or Beachcomber.

I agree. Not so much because I have a problem with Chevy, I'd just like to see a wider variety (of American cars). Besides, how realistic is it that the Autobots all came to earth and chose Chevy alt modes. I do realize GM put up a lot of $$$ for the movie, but a variety would be better.

I personally think it would be cool to see a Transformers turn into something like a 1940 Ford coupe or a 60's muscle car.

I qgree with you two, there is way too many chevy's in this movie. You know if the Autobots and Decepticons really came to Earth, do you think they would just hit up every single Chevy dealership in the world or would they scan the first available vehicle to "Hide" from the opposing faction and us. This is really getting redicoulos. Although I suppose the Constructicons (if they are even this movie) will show up with big Chevy logo's on them. Or maybe we should just calling the move Chevy-formers.

One thing I'm not liking about new GM cars is the ridiculous trend towards tiny, tiny side windows. My Saturn has the smallest side windows I've ever had in a car, and these are even smaller.

People need windows to see out of. Please to be considering this in the future. Thanks.

I agree on the chevy front, but I have a bigger issue. Why must the Transformers movies make it seem as though the streets are crawling with high-end concept cars? Since the first movie came out, I have seen EXACTLY ONE car that looked like one of the Autobots in the movie, and I had to squint.

I realize the movie is financed as a car commercial, essentially, but the cool thing about TFs are that they turn into EVERYDAY items, not cars that look like the Starship Enterprise. 70s Camaro Bumblebee, FTW.

That's one reason I think the BT/Alt lines were so popular: They aid the fantasy that those cars out there in the parking lot, just *maybe*...

Wow with all these awsome cars, were in for a treat with this new movie. The toys should be cool also.

Regarding GM's involvement in the film, that's just something we have to deal with. The truth of the matter is that if it weren't for GM's involvement in the film there is no way we would have the variety of cars that we currently have. GM has made this movie financially viable by their deal with Dreamworks. I honestly think this movie couldn't be made at the level it is without this deal.

Sweet.I love the looks of all the cars they got for the movie. Very... stylish. Just like I'd expect.

Considering how many Chevy's were on the streets in that movie at times I'd say very realistic. And considering how many bloody cars GM has that are still out there. Damn, I can't look outside without seeing one.

Still, you can't expect them to make a movie like this without some exclusive deal with a car company.

I dunno about this "The movie couldn't be made without the car deal" thing. Where were the cars in the lackluster, but outrageously expensive, Pirates sequels? Or most of the other high-budget summer blockbusters?

Given the success of TF1, I doubt they have trouble finding investors through normal channels at this stage. Licensing and financing are not the same. They can put Prime on as many Doritos bags as they want to.

Besides, wouldn't they sell a lot more cars if they made affordable models into Transformers? Most people who are jacked enough to afford a concept Camaro aren't getting one because they saw it in a movie.

Sure I can suspend disbelief that nearly all the Autobots in the movie just happened to scan GM vehicles, but product placement still sucks.

Actually the ones we have to lay our frustrations on are the other motor vehicle manufacturers. They're the ones who, having now seen the outrageous success of Transformers, still haven't said "I want some of this pie". Seriously, Mitsubishi want to make a splash with the Evolution X, what better splash to have than having it turn into a heroic Autobot of death dealing Decepticon? If they can't see Transformers as a chance to get some POWERFUL advertising done, they're blind.

I'm no huge fan of Chevrolet cars because I see so few of them, to me they're the rare imports and the Nissan Skylines/180SX/200SX/Silvia or Lancer Evos, WRX's, Supras, Celicas and RX-8s are the common two and four door performance cars.

That I think the Camaro and the Volt are as ugly as sin but thats an opinion and subject to change.

Still pretty nice, but it fails to wow me like the Saab did.

I guarantee that the Decepticons are going to be military vehicles (with the exception of that Frenzy-like bot), so it kinda zeroes out the chance of it being a Decepticon. I'd say the car here looks like it would be Wheeljack. But 1) it's a concept car, so it's subject to change, and 2) it's not G1, so it could be anybody.

I'm still sticking with Wheeljack, though.

I call for greater variety of alt modes. A good mix of vintages too. I don't mind them plugging some cars, but mix the old with the new.

I also think it'd be fun to set part of a TF movie in another country and have them scan some of those funky old Soviet style bangers, or the Indian Ambassodor cars. Or maybe set part in Cuba where they still drive those massive 1950s American cars. But that's going off on a bit of a tangent.

I suppose that makes sense, what with an upstart indie film company like Paramount Pictures... ...

But yeah, the Volt does look like an Autobot. It's not sinister looking, and as an electic car, I can't really see them not making it a good guy.

I don't care which company is making the cars used. Just like I don't care who the director is. All that matters is the final product. Besides, all these "new" cars today are so alike it's sicking. GM cars and other car companies cars are so similar would it really matter if other companies were used? Why? So you guys with your Honda Civics and Accords or any other Japanese car can be like " Oh wow that's my car on the sliver screen?" Wah

I can't believe it. The car I've been having orgasms to for the past year or so is going to be in the sequel. I cannot believe it. I was praying for this car to be in the next movie, and until now, I'd lost all hope. This is so surreal for me!

Thats a total bunch of hooey right there. So what if GM hadn't signed the deal with Hasbro? Some other car company would have. Trust me on that one. What car company WOULDN'T want to show off their cars to millions of movie goers? Thats the lamest argument that I've ever heard. "Oh, GM saved the TF movie, it made the movie able even be created, without GM, this movie would have been horrible."

The fact is another car company would have been able to pick up the deal. Any car company would have loved to push their models and concepts to the movie going public. Thats is THE ultimate venue. No car company's marketing department is going to pass that up.

And honestly, are you saying that Hasbro has to pay GM everytime they show a Chevy on-screen? Thats ridiculous. I'd say close to 90% of the films out there have cars of some sort in the movies. So does every ONE of those films have to pay royalties anytime they use their vehicles? Think of it - each car company would be raking in the dough for almost every single movie. Do you think Dodge got royalties for the Dukes of Hazzard? Or VW got royalties for Herbie?

If anything, it should be the opposite. Almost like the Super Bowl where companies pay MILLIONS for 30 seconds of air time. They are getting a 2 hour long movie to showcase their products just for putting up a few dozen cars maybe worth $200,000 in total? And Hasbro has to pay GM?

Driving Miss Daisy had a car. Did they have to pay royalties there? Dude, where's my car? had a car. Even Harold and Kumar had a Civic. Do you think they had to pay royalties to Honda? I'd say no.

This movie MOST CERTAINLY could have had a diverse range of cars. It would have widened the target audience significantly and everyone would have been happy. It would have taken away some bite of this movie being one huge car commercial by at least having other brands.

The whole, "VW doesn't want anything to do with war" spiel is something that Bay made up in an effort to shut up all the people who were pissed that Bumblebee wasn't a VW in the movie. I do agree that variety in cars would be better - I'd love to see some Lamborghinis, and other car makes just like the original G1 series. It makes it interesting.

Or a retro type car, such as Kup being a cyan-colored modified Chrysler Crossfire or P.T. Cruiser.

So the Autobots visit a Chevy Concept show and decide hey why not just all of us turn into chevy concepts cuz we'd be pretty inconspicuous driving around in a line as concept cars that aren't on the street yet. I'm just poking fun cuz I really don't care all that much. I do think it would be a sweet idea to have a good variety of cars from old to new to super tricked out.

Maybe this franchise can build to the point were they have vehicle themed movies like stunticons vs aerial bots or crazy illegal street races where the cars race for their life
