CGI Still of Optimus and Jetfire Combined mode movie-art
TFW2005, via TFG2.com, is proud to present to you some really neat pictures of ROTF Optimus Prime combined with Jetfire CGI High-res imagees. You can see the two truly do meld together, as in this form Optimus really is beefed up with extra amor/bulk all over his legs and torso, sports extra weaponry, and can fly in robot mode. Also included is a photo of Mixmaster's robot mode. Click the thumbnail to the left to see the full-sized images, in both the front and back modes, as well as a neat scene between Jetfire/Optimus and a villain from Revenge of the Fallen! Click Discuss to talk about these cool photographs.

Do you really not think that it looks grade-A awesome? It does seem that you are in a minority. Don't worry though: I have been a possessor of minority opinions for my whole life. I'm doing fine with it.

"Oooh, Hasbro, you do spoil us!" I can keep my fingers crossed and live in enduring hope, but I doubt that they would be kind enough to do that for us. Imagine the sets that they'd sell to Transfans though! Uber-money!

Prime look so very cool!

And to think I wasn't overly thrilled when the rumor broke about a Prime-Jetfire combo...shame on me.

It's probably handdrawn....with a wacom tablet in Photoshop....so technically speaking it's still computer generated imagery , though 2D.

The leader for both prime and jetfire is very good no doubt. But if they can just dismantle jetfire into 3~4 part to form the legs and back pack that would be great. instead they are just pure lazy. As long as the two lego pieces connects and thats it.

I still yet to go into the weapon. Look at the CGI ones. its hell of a gundamists weapon. MY god Hasbroke just spoil it by giving a pathetic gun with missiles. !!!!! F..ck hasbroke. For all the money they are earning please use some of it in getting some Gundam designers for the improvement or spend it for some researching for god sack.. Cheap plastics, lazy paint apps.

Mind you second prime and jetfire will come out with chrome paints '' the premium version''

The truth is I can go on and on and on about this stupid Hasbroke !!!!!

But i still loves them, because they are the only ones making legit transformers.

I support them to make the legacy of transformers can go on......

Big players like Gundam or japanese toys makers deserve to be part of Transformers !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Extensive knowledge in toy design, even robot toy brands, doesn't necessarily make one company compatible with a brand owned by somebody else, particularly in the case of transforming robot toys. The sheer majority of TF toy design is done jointly between both Hasbro and Takara, and they have stated that this relationship benefits the toys and the brand. Essentially, both Hasbro and Takara have been with Transformers (an American-created entity) long enough to know what Transformers are and how to do them - they give them soul. Any other company getting into it would just be making "transforming robot toys", an exercise of engineering.
optimus124:
This is awesome. Too bad the figure doesn't exude as much bad-assery
vektsilver:
if you could completely ruin one character with putting all the bad ass stuff you could on him you would get this.

Ya sure you can make things look cool adding all sorts of shit on them but now you have taken this whole thing so far away from original character you have ended up with a Gundam movie.

I love gundam dont get me wrong but I love Gundam for differant reasons than Transformers and mixing the two does not instantly make for a win.

This is just a stupid cop out for bad decisions made with this franchise. I ll give you that its cool looking but now detachment from this being optimus prime is complete and its no longer him.

Its just some killing machine gundam like abomination with flecks of blue and red. Most of you seem to be just fawning over anything that comes out for the movie no matter how far away from the core of TF it is. There is such a thing as unconditional love for a thing but sometimes you also just have to put it down too.

just had to add this because this i think hits on my point. However my disagreement is that I think Hasbro has lost their way and they are just making transforming robots. I mean these are soulless creations in my opinion they are missing identity really. This is mostly the fault of the movie with the visual choice of the characters. Where evil is monsterous and Good is just soulless and bland. Everything has to be ultra bad ass which means very little room for personality on these creations. Takara gets the whole thing and how its supposed to be but Hasbro really hadncuffs them when it comes to the movie. They just hand them a robot movie concept ( non transforming ) and a vehicle and says make it work. just about any line of TF other than the movie has a greal deal of personality .

ya know, I think I actually might, in a small way, feel sorry for megs and fallen.
reave:
Uhhhhhh

Looks exactly how I thought it would, knowing that Bay doesn't want (too much) mass-shifting. I don't know why the toy combo freaked so many people out, it was obviously a compromise.
Orbital:
I'm sure hasbro will release a voyager prime with clip on jetfire armor.
Rijie78:
Concept art, rather than CG renders as the frontpaged paragraph suggests... but awesome anyway Armoured Prime looks killer, and Mixmaster's another great Movie design.

Isn't that a purist point of view ?

From what Roberto told, I think this combo will actually symbolize Prime's growth as a Leader. Regardless of aesthetic style.

Progression of a character is fundamental to a story with which the audience can identify.

I mean ; look what happened to G1 Prime ; he didn't 'grow' as a character anymore. Hence, he was replaced by Rodimus.

But with this...movie Prime as a character will actually 'grow' as a Leader.

Niiice these are really awesome pics Great detail I can see on the whole concept of it, can't wait to see it in action in the actual movie

No. You're not alone. I'm not too impressed by this. It's another generic super mode for Optimus. What ever.
I fell out of favor of the stuper modes along time ago.

MixMaster looks cool though.

EPIC! Must. Buy. Toys. Now.

Wow, the toy version does this deign no justoice whatsoever. This is. Bad ass!!!!

i wish the powered up optimus prime toy rendition looked like that.

Misleading headline - not CGI artwork (renderings of character models, that is).
frenzy_rumble:
wow. love waking up to picture news. Seeing this, I have a lot of work ahead of me for my custom Prime/Jetfire. I think I have similar parts in my gundam boxes to really help pull this off, though many parts will have to detach and be extra...
and here's a side-by-side pic to compare the figure with the concept art:

kylash327:
looks exactly like the keychain though!

1. This is friggin' wicked!!!!!

2. words. BAD. ASS. that is fuckin bad ass. i just really hope that jetfire dosnt die in the proses.. that would suck
Tell_Story:
This is like McDonald: I'm lovin' it!

First of all these do look hand drawn, but the final design probably doesn't drift too far off from this concept.

Second, although there are obvious differences between the toy and the movie image I think the toy holds up it's own in its own right. I was a fan of G1 as a kid and did not follow the franchise long after the 1986 movie. One thing I never experienced was something like a 'power up' Optimus Prime or a combiner Optimus and my general feeling is that I like Prime better off on his own than in any combination.

I must say that I was very impressed seeing ROTF Power Up Optimus Prime. One of my first thoughts was "Wow, this is my first experience and acceptance of Optimus combining with another robot and I really like it!" Optimus looks really powerful all combined like that and I think they did a good job.

Hasbro and Takara have come a long way from the G1 franchise and you have to expect that it will take them another 25 years to blow our socks off with a new generation of Transformers that we will all love. Just enjoy it for what it is for now.

And the sentiment, "I don't know how long I'll last" resonates with me as well. These toys will be on the list on many!
Shizuka:
Everytime I see the toy and the concept art, I just want to cry and I think: "fuck, I'm so not going to own that." Why!? Why!? For all that is just release a frickin' REPLICA!!!
IR A IP T 0 IR:
Prime/Jetfire here looks beyond awesome, this movie is going to own son.

XD
Cheebs:
The toy/drawing comparison really drives it home: Leader Jetfire should have combined with a deluxe-size Prime.

Hey is there any way to get the wings and engines higher above the shoulders(without disassembling or customizing the toy)?

Yes ALOT OF WORK to turn that into the awesomeness of the artwork.

Still not crazy about them combining in the movie....but at least it looks good as far as this artwork looks.
Z.U.D.O.N:
*whistles* That's a very nice combination! I love the artwork so much. Simply fantastic!
kinjak:
Excuse the rough editing:

Love the design but lose the Kibble please!!!

It's as big as prime himself!

Supersize prime without the kibble and guns looks excellent though, he doubles in size. Seems to me to gain some leg length (in addition to the obvious parts below his feet) and and some extra arm length between the shoulder and socket.

Solrac333:
That is just awesome!!! This movie will kick ass!
saberconvoy:
That is way cool

its like a overlay armor or some type

also reminds me of a Shinki
MugenAutobot:
Looks awesome, the Fallen will still whoop dat ass tho.
NOCV:
Mixmaster looks cool, but I fucking hate combo gimmick prime. This is going to be so goofy in the movie. In the middle of battle Ratchet quickly hacks up Jetfire and turns Prime into this, and then what happens after the battle?

I hope Megatron blasts him out of the fucking sky.
VaderPrime1:
I have no words that can describe this amazing combination!!!!!!!!

To me, it's a concept that non-TF fans will get confused by. Hell, I'm a 20+ year fan and I don't really get it.

I wouldn't go that far, but my guess (and it's just that, I have not and will not read the novelization) is that Jetfire sacrifices himself for the greater good.
Quickdraw:
Mixmaster looks great. Hope to see more CGIs of the Constructicons. And Gundam Optimus (LOL!) looks bada$$!
Razorwing:
it's too bad even the Leaders Optimus and Jetfire cant' pull this off. I mean that is just bad ass. Don't think Hasbro can top that.
CDBROWN48:
I like the idea of the combiner Optimus Prime/Jetfire for the movie. I also like th fact that they are using concepts from all of the era's of the Transformers toys......Combiners, Pretenders etc!!! Really shows a great respect for all of the various toy lines....personally I always liked the Pretender concept......robot inside of a human and or monster outer shell =

Tell me about it. I would buy a model of that pair if it looked that good--I don't need them to transform, just give me a mecha that looks like that.

Hasbro did do good making Prime and Jetfire look better than Devastator; however, Devastator shouldn't have come out looking crappy in the first place given its price point an inability to transformer Maybe that's the problem, allowing the character to transform would have probably given it many points of articulation and some much needed detail.
