Brand New Upgraded Twins In Transformers 3
leftlanenews.com spy report identifies Two new Chevy Sparks with Autobot insignias during pre-production of Transformers 3.
"Sporting “Autobot” center caps on the wheels, these two vehicles were captured doing some pre-production work before principal filming starts in a few weeks. We think you are looking at Skidz (green) and Mudflap (orange).

We were contacted today by Paramount directly. They asked us to clarify the following.
The Twins will NOT be in the 3rd film, and that the featured cars are not actually in the movie.
Skidz is looking much sportier than in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, with new front and rear fascias, larger fenders, sportier wheels and a big wing. Mudflap was previously based on the Chevy Traxx concept, but for this installment, it appears both cars will be built off the Chevy Spark.
General Motors will once again be the main vehicle supplier for the latest Transformers movie, so expect to see several other GM-badged vehicles, including a black and yellow Chevy Camaro as Bumblebee."
So, now we know the motive behind Mr. Bay's comment. He wanted to hush the latest looks of everyone's favorite Robotic Twins; Skids and Mudflap.

Interesting. Wasn't expecting them to get an upgrade too (Bay seemed to be happy with how they turned out). Though since the Spark is the only one being produced, it isn't too surprising Mudflap's switch of alt-modes. Hopefully this means Hasbro decides to improve the Deluxe-class mold (like Bee I'll probably have more than on incarnation).
Can't wait to start seeing the new recruits. Especially the Ferrari.

Actually this makes sense, now the toys will just be head swapped repaints so even if they shelf warm (looking at you Mudflap) the mold will still get in it's two releases.

What if the transformation scheme's are radically different, but the alt-modes are the same? It's always a possibility. Then again, this is Hasbro. They'll do anything to save a few bucks.

Actually, it would be sort of hilarious to continue that bit of conversation from RotF. They both wanted "the green one", and now Mudflap finally just says screw Skids and scans another one.

I respect that the guy's trying to keep fans guessing, but I don't know why he's bothering at all this time. He was proven wrong on several points very quickly in the run-up to RotF, the big one being Megatron's presence.
That said, if those are the Twins (and it seems likely), the new colour schemes are a bit easier on the eye now.

Wow - HUGE improvement as far as the paint scheme goes, I really like the mostly black look. maybe those awful head designs got updated too.

Figured the "Twins not returning in TF3" was bullshit. And since it appears that the twins are back for Transformers 3, this only further proves that the movie will not do well, especially after the two characters were accused of being racist caricatures. Gee, I wonder how will Michael Bay get outta this one...

A part of me wants to say that some of the higher ups finally realized that the twins should at least look similar in some way, like the original Lambo twins, and so made Mudflap the same alt. mode as Skids.
Although simply having the only real visible difference in Alt. mode be colored dual stripes will present problems for the robot modes since outside of trying to remember who has the gold tooth and what oversized limbs, those two are going to be a little too similar if seen under bad lighting.

"He's not lying. I've actually known for about a week that they weren't in it, but I couldn't say anything about it until they made it public. Talked to one of the producers... they know how much everyone hated the twins, and they don't want that backlash again."
I think that these aren't actually going to be Skids and Mudflap, but maybe Decepticons posing as them.

I cant imagine the film producers keeping them in the 3rd one after all the backlash to their characters without making massive overhauls to their look and personalities, so maybe this is a start.
I also cant imagine having two twins in the next one with the same two color characteristics. Interesting.

I dig, Id be ok if they were the same mold with head swaps(and likely arm swaps) but i think it would make sense to pack em together as a voyager since they look so much alike...I can see it now...little bobby gets 2 skids because mom couldnt tell the near ident vehicles apart...

Actually, i'm going to guess that if their Alt mods are going to be that similar, they may be designed with different colored limbs, and packaged in robot mode to distinguish one more easily from the other.

They shouldn't even be in the third film at all because of said backlash. If I made a movie and if one of the characters was crossing the line of being a stereotype, I'd write him off for the sequel. That's what should be done for the Twins. Have them go back to Cybertron and go back to basic learning. Or better yet, just have the Decepticons kill them off. It'd put a grin on my face.
I hate to burst your bubble, but the fandom as a whole is fickle. You can't please every Transformers fan, and sometimes there's gonna be something with the Transformers name on it that we won't like.

Possible, the fact they could be confused for different cars at a passing glance do add merit to this theory, but the colors of the stripes kinda defuse the idea that they're anybody BUT Skids and Mudflap.
Also, to counter possible arguments that those two cars are red herings like Barricade's stand-ins from the last movie, those are modified Sparks. Sure, Barricade got hauled all over the place yet he wasn't in the movie, but that was simply leftover prop cars from the first movie. To create wholy new vehicle stand ins (and modify them like that) but not use them in the movie is just a waste of budget money.
