 | | | | | | | $125.9 Million in Three Days for Revenge of the Fallen | | Posted on 06-27-2009 at 07:47 PM by Super_Megatron | In its third day, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen maintained its blockbuster run, raking in an estimated $36.7 million on approximately 10,000 screens at 4,234 sites. That stands as the tenth highest-grossing Friday ever, but all movies ahead of it had Friday openings, giving the action sequel the record for biggest non-opening Friday gross. It ranks ahead of Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith, Spider-Man 2 and The Matrix Reloaded on that front, although each of those pictures had higher attendance. Revenge of the Fallen's Friday included an estimated $2.6 million from 169 IMAX runs, and the picture has thus far made $8.9 million in the format.
With a $125.9 million total in three days, Revenge of the Fallen slotted in as the fourth highest-grossing three-day opening on record, behind The Dark Knight, Spider-Man 3 and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest, but, again, among movies that didn't open on a Friday, it grabbed the top spot. More importantly from a franchise perspective, it has grossed more than the previous Transformers did in its first four and a half days ($107.6 million).

Michael Bay is jacking off to this thread as we speak.

I'll be contributing more $40 more bucks tomorrow! Haters can suck it.
Moy:
Would be nice to see ROTF take over the Dark Knight, but if TF3 becomes real, then they need to develop the Constructicons way more.
Akumaxv:
As much as I liked the parts of the movie, and there were definitely some parts to like, the majority of the movie was a disaster.
And for you hypocrites, I'm sure if the movie was making no money, and all the critics loved it, you'd be saying how everyone should listen to the critics because they are experts and know what they are talking about.
Since they don't blindly love it and point out the myriad of flaws that anyone with half a brain can see, they can "suck it" and should be completely discredited.
This whole mess just goes to show how Micheal Bay is just the Brittany Spears of the movie world.
Sure they both make a ton of money, but you can't really consider them artists. Especially since they are just the "mouth pieces" of the dreck they put out.

Optimus Prime reigns supreme yet again
st.ranger:
Did anyone notice, that the movie have a lot screenplay mistakes? That is the reason why I dont like it.

Liege Prime:
I really, really enjoyed the movie and will be giving it more money when I see it on Imax next week. Everyone who likes it or not should at least be glad it's making money. Even if you don't like the movie universe or toy aesthetic, every success for Hasbro SHOULD lead to more Transformers goodness on all fronts.
JDF:
To critics and naysayers...... Nelson says "ha ha"..
Thundercrackah:
I'm just gonna sit here and grin smugly.
AnimatedFan:
Just got back from another screening. The massive earnings it's collected, so far, are more than well deserved. Seriously.
AutoSlasher101:
I just saw the movie yesterday and it-was-AWESOME! I wouldn't recommend taking an 8 or 9 year old to it because it has some very inappropriate stuff for kids but thats just for little kids. It's actually quite funny.
ogscorpion:
I saw it for the second time yesterday. This time in an IMAX theatre with the family and it was awesome! IMAX is the way to watch TF2.
Acid Wing:
I'm very happy that the movie is succeeding. Don't think it'll beat TDK's record, but I will be pleasantly surprised if it does.
GavynN.X.:
Haven't seen the movie yet but there's 3 things I'm expecting out of this ACTION movie:
1) Lots and lots of action
2) Megan Fox
3) More Megan Fox
If the movie gets that right, I'm ok!

1. i'm glad its making money...
2. i'm glad that, at age 31, i can still sit through G1...
3. i'm glad that, despite the flaws, i can enjoy this movie 2 more times...
4. i'm glad that almost all the toys are pretty cool so far...
SPLIT LIP:
I'm glad you're glad.
I want to see the movie again, but don't know when. Plastic Man:
Happy that the movie is doing so good. It's great for us. I'll bet they could get at least 4-5 more movies out of it and make a billion dollars.
Black Oracle:
I'm happy for that TFs have fared this well on the big screen.

DK had good reviews and word of mouth across the board...
ROTF reviews are 50-50 at best. Next week it will drop 75% and cash out at about 600-750mil
Plus it sucked!

Corporate kiss @ss!!!
Only a handful of Hasbros creations have appealed to me in that last 2years. And that's after the success of the first movie.... So tell me another one!
frilly toothpick:
im glad its doing this well. i liked it and will watch it again soon. its fine that people are voicing their opinions and saying how bad the acting is and how bad the screenplay stunk and whatnot, but this is summer blockbuster film based on toys. its not exactly shakespeare, or a clint eastwood directed oscar contender. its meant to be entertaining and action packed. im my opinion it delivered.
gnodprime1:
This one will make most of it's money the first 14 days, after that it'll drop way off. I just doesn't have the legs TDK had. Anybody think its as good as TDK? Didn't think so. It'll cover it's cost, twice over, and then quick to DVD. I still can't decide if I'll buy it or not, leaning toward not. A rental will probably suffice.
Optimus1986:
So glad it's doing very well. Loved the movie, too!
G.I.JOE has a hard act to follow.

| It's one thing to not like the movie(no one's saying you have to), but it's quite another to put down or outright bash others that did(or vice versa for the overzealous movie defenders). That kind of attitude is completely unnessecary and really shows how little respect one has for their fellow fans in this community.
Also the fact that those of us that did like the movie don't feel the need to go into every movie-related thread we can find and state our opinions on it over and over and over. Or in the case of this thread, coming in and yelling "but it sucked!" or making snide comments, etc. about how much money it's made so far.
There's really no need to keep telling everyone how much you hated it or telling people, from one example I've seen here, they'd be better off drinking hot raw sewage than seeing the movie. Or coming into a positive thread like this one and bringing out the hate. Or butting into a perfectly fine discussion thread with a nasty comment/whatever(wondered why you haven't seen many? It's because we can't seem to talk about the movie anywhere without at least one jerk spoiling things with their negativity).
Why the "Hater" label? Well there you go.
tigermask44:
Looks like it already made it's money back. 200 million budget, Boxoffice mojo is estimating 201 million domestic and 387 million worldwide in it's first full weekend. Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (2009) Divers2001:
saw it last night...bought 5 tickets for me and my friends.
definitely enjoyed the movie very much.
