$125.9 Million in Three Days for Revenge of the Fallen transformers_logo
In its third day, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen maintained its blockbuster run, raking in an estimated $36.7 million on approximately 10,000 screens at 4,234 sites. That stands as the tenth highest-grossing Friday ever, but all movies ahead of it had Friday openings, giving the action sequel the record for biggest non-opening Friday gross. It ranks ahead of Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith, Spider-Man 2 and The Matrix Reloaded on that front, although each of those pictures had higher attendance. Revenge of the Fallen's Friday included an estimated $2.6 million from 169 IMAX runs, and the picture has thus far made $8.9 million in the format.

With a $125.9 million total in three days, Revenge of the Fallen slotted in as the fourth highest-grossing three-day opening on record, behind The Dark Knight, Spider-Man 3 and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest, but, again, among movies that didn't open on a Friday, it grabbed the top spot. More importantly from a franchise perspective, it has grossed more than the previous Transformers did in its first four and a half days ($107.6 million).

Friday Report: ‘Transformers’ Sequel Dominates
TRANS+CRAZY:
All I can say is... AWESOME!!!
iheartarcee:
people love the twins!
Cyber-Scream:
Awesome, and well deserved. Just saw it again but in Imax (first time going to Imax). It was AMAZING.
Chris McFeely:
I could honestly never have predicted that it was going to be THIS crazy-go-nuts profitable.
Deadend:
Go Baby, Go Baby, GO!

I've been following it on Box Office Mojo. So I'm loving the statistical breakdown.
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (2009)

The total with worldwide gross, doesn't hurt either.
guard convoy:
gettin close to a third of its total profit and it has only been out for about 4 days DANG
rivalarod:
HELL YEAH! that what i like to hear, I've gone to see it twice including the midnight showing and today mid day and yeah it was still packed...took my lil sister and she loved it, expecially the twins...i want these numbers to keep climbing and beat out the nighty night batman. haha.
Deceptigtar:
All I know is those who say they will not see it or hate it before seeing contributed to those dollars and you know who you are!!! You loved it so much you saw it a second time or third but still complain about it, its ok though
Kando:
Great news.
Ra88:
I just hope this won't encourage Bay to ignore all critisms and go even MORE over the top with the next one...I liked RotF, but some things were very...Yeah.
Galaxy Convoy:
In your face, Ebert! Suck it!
Pauly T:
Yowza! ROTF's box office really proves... that ticket prices keep going up.

And yet another thread falls victim to the hate...
guard convoy:
tickets still cost $4-6 at my local theater for the past 5-10 years
T-money:
Very impressive for a Wednesday thru Friday haul.

I'm eager to see what the final numbers through the weekend will be.
the unacronner:
all I can say is that this movie while it did have great special effects and a couple cool parts (forest scene) its like that christmas gift that got so hyped everybody made a run for it ..then on christmas morning you realize after opening the package and playing with it for a bit that it has shoddy construction, bad paint aps, plus lousy playability and over time will just fall apart.

but hey everybody bought it.
raz7719:
Yet, your opinion in the overall scheme of things is mute. True, another thread falls to Hate.
Kup-is-Dion:
Just more proof that the awesomeness of Sideswipe prevails!
eyeballkid:
Im glad its making money. What idiot didnt think it would? Hell, i paid! This movie was garbage. Lowest common denominator.
Goaliebot:
EXCELLENT.

The more money it makes, the more moot the haters' complaints become.

[Burns] Eeeeeeeeexcellent...[/Burns]

Bring on number three! Complete the trilogy!

FanimusMaximus:
Good job
I rather enjoyed the movie regardless of criticism
AMG:
Impressive numbers.
TIE Bomber:
My favorite movie of all time. Loved every second. Most fun I've ever had at the theater. Going to see it a few more times. Gonna be sad when it leaves the theater.
SkyfiRe71:
Wow the critics who rated it poor need to either get with the times or retire because ROTF took their reviews and shoved 'em down their throats...forcibly.

This is a pretty true statement, actually.

I understand people liking it. But if this is your favorite movie of all time, you need to see some more movies
b.winn1:

Maybe not.

I guess I just think Michael Bay 'thanking the fans' is his way to gain creative credibility and sock it to those 'damn critics'. Even though his movie made so much damn money, I feel it was so mediocre, and as a fan I want to let him know I was let down right along with most of the world's respected film crititics. And this fact doesn't diminish my fandom.

I liked, didn't love movie one. But this movie got away from him.

If all these threads are supposed to be homogeneus love fests, then I apologize. I just like to tell the truth.

well said.

hasbro should realize its their product that people are going to see..they should also realize that it would do them a world better to get a new director..but he signed the contract so we are stuck ..to bad for fans like us eh sam?...

but I wonder if hasbro has control to say hey those idiot fart, dick, poop jokes are not funny as well as jar jar like characters can you cap that for next time.

but in the end money talks I guess

so basically..... YEAH!!
Triggerhappy:
I'd like to add, it felt it was a new level of cinema it had all the momentum of a roller coaster, like it really did feel like a full on experience, and I'm sure thats something that couldnt be replicated at home, so good work team!
Dran0n:
Awesome
Seeker24:
great news. nothing but good can come from this for the franchise.. now lets see how much money it ends up making.
faithingruden:
Just saw it today, and I think its a good movie. Very entertaining. Will probably see it again!
samtastic:
With all my bitching about it, I did see the movie twice - brought the kids this time - after judging that it's not completely inappropriate for them

The beginning is actually quite good, but it really gets worse as it goes along. I found Prime's cold 'execution' style killing of Commander Doom Wheels icky, out of character...

I do look forward to the DVD, so I can slomo and actually see the cool looking robots that I likes...

Of course I am happy it did well. I love the toys and this means they will keep making them... I just REALLY wanted more out of Devastator and the constructicons. Had such high hopes, and was very let down. They made such a weak impression and were relegated to anonymous red-shirts... Maybe my expectations were too high...

I mean how is it possible that the Demolisher and the Long Haul on my desk have more drama and personality than the ones onscreen? Sigh.

It is awesome that it's kicking BO ass though. Props to Hasbro Now give us Masterpiece Grimlock in Toys R Us!!!!!
GRAVITYBOMB:
i hope that rotf makes as much money as possible, i want it to beat out that overated piece of cinema the dark knight. WOO! GO TRANSFORMERS ROTF!
YoungPrime:
All of that would be wonderful.....if it didn't suck!
jgoss:
just seen the 9 35 showing and all i can is amazing and holy s###! I'll go see it again.awesome,awesome,awesome.Much better than the first

Co-sign!

Sams parents were annoying and Ironhide should have terminated! Sound wave was Dr. Claw and the Fallen couldn't get up.

All the fights scenes looked like they recycled the same fastforwarded sequence of Optimus coping off a random Deceptons arm....

The Novel was far better...to bad they didn't follow it! **1/2 out of 4
hellrasinbrasin:
You know people complained to THE GODS about how Revenge of the Fallen
was worse than X-Men Origins and Terminator 4 but the Hard Core Energon Guzzlers said Frac em I'm seeing the film any how and you know what anyone else who says that there is no way in hell that this film would make money can go shine Devestators Balls
YoungPrime:
Nothings worse than Origins.....They couldn't pay me to see sit through that crap!
