Akiva Goldsman Hired For A Transformers Cinematic Universe

Posted on 03-27-2015 at 03:25 PM by SilverOptimus under Transformers Movie (Just Movie) (All Transformers Movie News)
Akiva-Goldsman-Transformers-5 Paramount Pictures is launching a cinematic universe around its blockbuster Transformers property that will be overseen by Oscar-winning screenwriter Akiva Goldsman, Deadline reports. It is stated that the Transformers Franchise will follow a Cinematic Universe, very much like the current Marvel, DC and Star Wars franchises. The series is said to have Sequels as well as Spin-offs.

Mr. Goldsman has worked on famous scripts such as A Beautiful Mind, The Da Vinci Code and I Am Legend as well as the infamous Batman & Robin.

"Taking a page from Fox’s incubation of three Avatar sequels and what Disney is doing to revive Star Wars with a sequels and spinoffs, the studio is negotiating with Akiva Goldsman to work with franchise director Michael Bay, exec producer Steven Spielberg and producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura to organize a “writer’s room” that will incubate ideas for a potential multi-part Transformers sequel, and come up with potential spinoff films based on the billion-dollar franchise culled from the Hasbro toy line." says Deadline. "The Transformers expansion signals that Paramount is serious about competing with its studio peers when it comes to broadening big franchise properties." says TheWrap.

In memoriam - Leonard Nimoy

Posted on 02-27-2015 at 02:25 PM by Sol Fury under Transformers Movie (Just Movie) (All Transformers Movie News)
Spock-Leonard-Nimoy We are sad to report that veteran actor Leonard Nimoy has passed away. Leonard Nimoy provided the voices of Sentinel Prime in Transformers Dark of the Moon and Galvatron in Transformers the Movie in 1986, but he will perhaps be best remembered for playing the role of the science officer of the Enterprise, Mr Spock, in Star Trek, in a role that spanned almost 50 years from his debut as the Vulcan in "The Cage" to his final appearance in "Star Trek Into Darkness".

On behalf of the site, of fans of science fiction, and anyone who has gazed skywards and imagined traveling the spaceways, we offer our condolences to Mr Nimoy's family, and we also warmly remember one of the greatest men to have graced our screens in both his acting and his voice acting roles.

Live long, and prosper.

Michael Bay worked for the four Transformers movies for nearly 10 years. Mr. Bay was just 40 years old when he took the directorial duties of the first live action Transformers movie under the guidance of Steven Spielberg.

Speaking of which, this February marks the 10th anniversary of the script written for the 1st Transformers Live Action Movie.

Creating The Knightship For Transformers: Age Of Extinction

Posted on 02-11-2015 at 11:32 AM by SilverOptimus under Transformers Movie (Just Movie) (All Transformers Movie News)
PG_031_KnightShip_LandingBay_002_1411660401 ILM has posted a video, going behind the scenes of creating the Knightship from Transformers: Age Of Extinction.

"Creating the Knightship for "Transformers: Age of Extinction" was an immense challenge for the visual effects team due to it's massive scale. In fact, the Knightship is over five times larger than the worm-like drilling robot that appeared in "Dark of the Moon" which had previously held the record at ILM for most complex model."

Hasbro Applies For A Go-Bots Movie And Toyline Trademark

Posted on 01-26-2015 at 01:43 PM by SilverOptimus under Transformers Movie (Just Movie) (All Transformers Movie News)
The-Gobots Following the success of the first Michael Bay Live Action Transformers Movie back in 2007, Hasbro worked with movie studios around the world to bring your childhood toys into the big-screen. From toys such as G. I. Joe to board games like Battleship and Ouija, Hasbro is a live action movie machine with more live action movies such as Jem And The Holograms and Candyland down the pipeline.

It so happens that TFW2005 has stumbled upon another possible live action movie and a toyline from Hasbro. Once rivals of the Transformers Franchise (1984), Gobots became the property of Hasbro when they acquired Tonka; the original creators of Gobots.

On January 21st and on January 24th, Hasbro has applied for a new Go-Bots trademark (this is not a renewal) under "distribution of motion pictures, ongoing television programs" and "Toys, games and playthings, namely, toy vehicles and accessories for use therewith".

You can check out the Trademark documents from the United States Patent & Trademark Office here and here.

Peter Cullen Says Transformers 5 & 6 Might Be Less Dark

Posted on 01-10-2015 at 01:10 AM by SilverOptimus under Transformers Movie (Just Movie) (All Transformers Movie News)
PeterCullenTransformersAgeExtinctionPremieres33N0eHYHtQMl The iconic voice of Optimus Prime, the legendary voice actor Peter Cullen attended SacAnime 2015 and answered fan questions.

He stated that Transformers 5 and 6 to might be less darker in tone than the previous movies and will go back to its roots.

"There is a sense that Transformers movies are going into a darker area" stated Mr. Cullen. "I think I brought the concern to the movie studio and certainly to the writers. Perhaps…Transformers 5 and 6 movies will go back more to its roots. There was an occasion where one line [in Transformers: Age Of Extinction] which Optimus Prime had, I did not want to say. It was my gut instinct and certainly my commitment to the character… not to say the line. But I was told to say. You can’t fight the big boys. I think you all know what that line was."

Visual Effects Supervisor Scott Farrar Explains What It's Like To Work On A Transformers Movie

Posted on 01-09-2015 at 11:58 PM by SilverOptimus under Transformers Movie (Just Movie) (All Transformers Movie News)
scottfarrar_2 Animation World Network had a chat with Scott Farrar; Visual Effects Supervisor & Second Unit Director for the Transformers Live Action Movies by Director Michael Bay.

Mr. Farrar states:
"When I got there [Iceland], we had this whole setup of how the little dinosaur is going to run over and get the fish and run from the waterfall…there’s this whole big play with all these other dinosaurs out next to the stream bed. So we shot all that stuff. I’m looking at all this… and I go by what Michael goes by. Where does the light look good? Wait a minute. Look at this landscape back here, look at the birds hovering, look at the shadows on the cliff side. Let’s shoot that! That’s what I do. I shoot basically what’s cool or what speaks to me at a location. Even in the aerials, I’m looking around and thinking, “Well this is not what I had in mind but oh, this looks pretty good.” That’s what you’ve got to do. Make these decisions all the time. Your mind has to be open to new ideas, not a prior conceived idea that locks you up."

Hound It seems to be a tradition now, any new Transformers movie is followed by a series of nominations for the Golden Raspberry Awards, aka the Razzies. Movieweb reports that Transformers Age of Extinction has been nominated in several categories, including Worst Picture, Worst Remake, Rip-Off or Sequel, Worst Screenplay, Worst Screen Combo (for which it says "any two humans / robots"), Worst Director, and surprisingly, Kelsey Grammer gets a nomination for Worst Supporting Actor. Sophia Myles rounds off the list with a nomination for Worst Supporting Actress.

Do you feel these nominations are justified? Do you feel a strong sense of deja vu toward the grand majority of these nominations? Share your thoughts in the discussion thread.

Transformers: Age Of Extinction Becomes The Highest Grossing Movie Of 2014

Posted on 12-24-2014 at 02:04 PM by SilverOptimus under Transformers Movie (Just Movie) (All Transformers Movie News)
Transformers-Age-of-Extinction-Poster-Optimus-and-Grimlock Well, this comes as no surprise. With just few days left to finish Year 2014, Box-Office Mojo has announced that Transformers: Age Of Extinction is the Highest Grossing Movie Of 2014.

AOE achieved this with a worldwide gross of nearly $1.1 Billion. Second place winner is Guardians of the Galaxy which is closely followed by Maleficent.

Guardian has this to say:

"Transformers: Age of Extinction has been named the highest-grossing film of 2014, thanks largely to huge success in China.

The fourth instalment in Michael Bay’s divisive, sci-fi saga took $1.087bn (£690m) around the world. More than $300m came from China, where the film overtook Avatar in July to become the highest-grossing movie of all time. Bay shot Age of Extinction in Hong Kong and hired Chinese stars such as Li Bingbing for supporting roles, thereby helping to encourage local interest."

Director Michael Bay has also been announced as the "Producer Of The Year", following the success of Transformers: Age Of Extinction and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Mark Wahlberg committed to doing "a couple more" Transformers movies

Posted on 12-18-2014 at 05:41 PM by Sol Fury under Transformers Movie (Just Movie) (All Transformers Movie News)
250px-Cade Mark Wahlberg, who played the inventor Cade Yeager in this summer's Transformers: Age of Extinction, was talking to MTV and one of the things which he was asked concerned the future of the Transformers franchise. His response was as follows:

"Yeah, I committed to doing a couple more... you know I can’t speak for Mr. Bay, but something tells me we’ll be on the set soon."

By all accounts it sounds like we might see Cade Yeager make a return for at least one, maybe two more Transformers movies going forward!
