Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen director Michael Bay has made a post on his Shoot for the Edit Forums stating that they have leaked out quite a bit of information on purpose for the sequel. However, he states that all of this information that was leaked is false. Per Bay:
The only full script for the movie exist with me and the original writer’s. A select few crew members have read parts, some of the leads have read full scripts – but the number is under ten. One person from Paramount, three from Dreamworks. We have leaked several scripts, some treatmentsand various scenes that are used to mislead the internet. We have mocked up wrong schedules and call sheets with fake scenes on them. When shooting scenes we don’t refer to character names and use wrong faces on the poles representing different robots that are going to be placed in – It’s a lot of work but seems to have worked out because no one knows the story of the movie besides Sam going to college.
Deadend
Several scripts? Check, that's true.
The Poles? Check, that's true.
Call sheets? God I hope those were mostly real, but who knows with how quickly they went G1 nod heavy with Jetfire.
And so far only Arcee and the first movie bots are the only one's we know of for sure. Though even Arcee could be something we don't expect (doubtful).
So I don't get where he's lied in this comment at all? He never said the locations were wrong, just info at the locations not during filming is potentially misleading. Which isn't much of a surprise, as even Dark Knight had pulled similiar stunts. As for IDW, well even the first Movie Novel, and Comic adaption had it's 'off' moments, so while they may not have the 'current' revision, I'm sure they may have a good idea of a version they are using. I just hope before all the prequel release stuff starts happening, bay and etc all talk together to work out continuity in ARG/Comics/Novels. Or otherwise we're going to end up like last time with none matching up, and still not matching up. Pretty much like movies only to movie, books only to books, and comics only to comics, each are movie-verse, but with slight differences.
I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt on this one, as his statement quoted here seems true and accurate compared to what we've seen from the past, so I don't quite get the sudden rush to call him a liar. Well cept to mock the 'it's all a lie' stuff.
…
Unless all of a sudden he releases Bridges of Madison County 2: Star Crossed Lovers…
Then maybe the cake really was a lie. >.>
As for Devastator, it has yet to be seen for sure that was a mistake, personally I'm hoping he is still the gestalt, cept he was battle damaged to the point he can't seperate (alla keepers saga novels did), then he just scans a tank when he comes to earth. Now as blown to pieces… Maybe they can seperate the other bots? Or they'll make the constructicons another route. Same as Starscream's Salvos on megs. Hopefully movie 2 will cover this in its story details. Things are really only limited by the imagination and forethought. Like JLU Seasons being tied to the DCAU.
And pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease no Hot Rod till movie 3. Bumblebee more or less already has his role for now, not to mention Arcee, Kup, Ultra Magnus and Springer (The veteran fighters) need to come first. Well besides the rest of the S1-2 bot Cast names.
Foster
True, and some of us found it to be just that.

Just like the fake BotCon 2008 comic Shattered Expectations on April Fools was VERY well recieved for its camp fun, and some people expected the Serious Business Botcon Shattered Glass comic to be a dissapointment by comparison.
Baird
Too true. TF2 is going to be the first film repeated, just on steroids.
Cinemastique
It'll be hilarious when he leaks fake designs, and they're awesome.
And we go, "Oh, man, this is gonna be the best movie Bay has ever made!"
Bay: "Aw, shit."
I'm joking, but I really will be disappointed if the bad info teases better plot points and designs than are in the real film.
Hound & Mirage
Suspicious.
Optimus Sledge
LaBeouf doesn't exist. The part of Sam Witwicky was played by Morgan Freeman.
Jcanuc
No Shculmacher, please. Metal Nipples = BAD
Made me laugh.
Seriously this whole crap about misinformation is just enough to keep everyone frustrated enough that Bay and Company can make a movie without being attacked by the fans.
With the success of the first movie, there is no doubt Bay's Ego is super-inflated.
Either the same mistakes that were made in the first round will be repeated and there will be more bad choices, based on the " I just made a multi-million dollar film" mentality.
OR
We get a really kick ass film.
I vote somewhere in between,
Either way the film makers don't have to reconstruct half the movie because something leaked early to the fans (us), and it gets a major negative reaction.
That's the main point of all the misinformation and keeping it all super secret.
We can render 2 crappy characters twice if we don't have to redo one of them halfway through production.
Poho
not broke; misled.
microclone
good point.
i saw the first movie, its was fun enough but all this cloak and dagger business puts me off the whole thing though, its all rather an ego trip for bay i suppose, its like hes trying to be cleverer than the fans who want to know x,y,z about the film, way to much indulgence, way too serious.
rather sad, its just a movie.
Katamari Prime
So Lebeouf wasn't in a car accident?
Feralstorm
Considering the first movie went pretty much exactly the same way – Bay and others say (a lot of) the stuff that leaked prior was intentionally false and misleading, or would change a lot by movie release, and yet somehow near all of the early stuff seen turned out to be between 90 and 100 percent correct – I'll say yessir, that's most likely correct. Easier and cheaper to say the truth is false, rather than spend extra money to create the falsehoods.

The problem with Bay's plan of misinformation is to not let us know WHAT is misinformation. When he keeps coming on and saying "You know nothing!", he just makes it look more suspicious. If he really wanted the plan to work, he'd shut up.
JOHNDILLINGA
*Cough*
He knows that even with the internet he can't hide everything for ever.
I think the Misinformation Campain is Misinformation it's self, Lie to cover the truth that's slowly leaking out on a day by day basis. and what's the best way to do it Deny everything even when their is proof.
We may be frenzied Fans at some points in time Bay, But were not idiots.
Psychrome86
uh yeah. i'll just think for myself and question the authority on this one. i wonder though, why even bother trying to keep it a secret? not everybody wants to see the script, and anybody that does is not going to be able to change anything that happens. right?
yami4ct
Obviously Bay is lying about everything and this movie really doesn't exists. We'll go to the theater on the release date and it'll just be him on-screen laughing for 2 hours. It'll be the most elaborate joke ever perpetrated on human kind.
Fit For natalie
Guys, did I cause Bay's forum to shut down or something with my logic? I registered and posted there with evidence of IDW Publishing contradicting his claims that only a select number of people involved with the movie production have the script.
And now his site is down.
I broke Micheal Bay's internet?
Ash from Carolina
It's an American summer action movie so even if it wasn't Bay we could already figure that it either has a happy ending where the good guys win to let the ticket holder go home happy, or it just sets up for part 3 to get the ticket holder back on day to finish up the story.
They aren't likely going to spend the cash to change the look of the robots so we already know what part of the cast looks like and any new bots are likely to have the parts overload and have you going who's that.
Unless they do the unheard of thing of the production team relaunching their own franchise after the first film I really don't see much room to sping a whole lot on us that we aren't expecting already and can't fill in when the toys and comic books hit before the films release.
What's next is Bay going to talk Hasbro into holding off on the release of the new movie toys until after the movie has been out a month?
MagnusPrimal
It's how he's going about it. He apparently thinks we're idiots.
Poho
i love how Bay says "…mislead the internet."
