With a small blade and some patience, you just might be able to free it from the figure. Not sure if it would hold together, though.

I think I may try a head-swap with Que… whenever he decides to show up. Not only would it be wonderfully twisted irony, it actually looks good (and not just because it's "geewuny"):
I wish there was an easy way to salvage the other RotF Soundwave head, even if it was just to pop it on the "front" of its own body.
AlanGarou
Okay, I found a way to make his chest stay in place. It nullifies most of the shoulder articulation, but frankly there wasn't much of that to begin with.
Eh, the sculpting itself looks fine. It's just painfully lacking in paint.

you dont like the look of the dotm soundwave head?
AlanGarou
Yeah, no argument there. I'm probably going to keep it until the DotM one comes out so I can try head-swapping them. Then if that works I'm going to physically destroy the rest of the toy.
Edit:
You're probably right about that. Might be a better idea to try to fix it than to just return it.
SPLIT LIP
Now imagine if somebody got a copy of this toy thtt didn't have the devil's QC you got saddled with. I mean, damn that's crazy. Mine only had the loose torso, but I fixed that.

the headsculpt rocks though.

I just got this toy, and it is the worst Transformer I've purchased in years. Its robot mode is constantly folding in on itself, his arms have incredibly frustrating articulation, his left hip folds in so easily that he can't stand up, his thighs pop apart so easily that it's impossible to move the legs without having them disconnect, none of his modes peg together, and the neck refuses to stay in place. It is as bad, or even worse than PCC Double-Clutch. I cannot understand how anyone enjoys this toy.

this figure is trash. You just cannot play with him. His robot mode falls all over the place, and none of his parts seem to clip on anywhere. Not solid at all. Jet and sattelite mode are ok though, but really, they could have made a better job for him to stay in place. A lot of movie style figures seem to have this problem. I'm getting sick of it. Parts need to stay on together in order to make solid figures. Why won't hasbro understand this?

Here's my take on Soundwave. Maaaaan, I'm really behind everyone else on these things, but then, I just never intended to get the toys to begin with. Damn you plastic addiction!
Angelwave
Heh…..I ended up dong the same thing as Brakescream. Even with the phone without knowing it.
SoundMaster
I love him. He's my favorite Soundwave yet.
When changing to the space cruiser mode, the wings on the sides should clip into the panels on the shoulders.

You might want to try to pose his feet like this, to add some height to him :

In the back of the package, it reads: "Canon converts to blade". What canon converts to what blade?
Brakescream
I blame this guy for me having a relapse into buying toys even though I'm pushing 30!
I never got G1 Soundwave as a kid and so I tried to make up for it by getting this one.
He's grown on me as time has gone on. I'm still somewhat hoping for a Legends Ravage to pair up with him. But he's a lot of fun to mess around with.
Pretty much every opinion has been said in the thread already, but the only thing I can add is, I think Hasbro even got the transformation wrong on the packaging.
We now know what SW looks like in Satellite mode as he's the nav menu on the UK official site. In case any haven't seen him, he looks like this:
You can get pretty close to this with the toy by doing this;
Apologies for the terrible quality, I took it with my phone.
I think this is how he was supposed to look in Sat mode all along. Especially as there doesn't seem to be any need for the shoulder flaps to fan out for any of the 'official' transformations, but they're used for this one. I haven't really tried to get him to look like he does in the insert, the image is too small, but that's probably possible also.

Ah, Transtech Soundwave…..good luck figuring out what his "Manufacturer's Suggested Alt-Mode" is without the instruction manual.
Soundwave is ok, definitely needs more paint apps. An obligatory Soundblaster repaint, mostly black with silver and red apps, would probably do the mold better justice.
Kinda iffy on the figure myself…not a must-have. but if you're a sucker for fan-modes, Soundwave is practically a bottomless pit of them…
Chaos Muffin
This dude's awesome, you can do about 20 thousand things with his wings & panels.
Been having a blast with his ship mode, can pretty much make any jet shape you want.
Satelite mode, ok whatever. Bot mode is also panel tastic. Screw the official way, fold this guy the way you want.
