Check out some more shots of Masterpiece Rodimus Prime from Botcon 2011 including some pics of the back and sides of the box.

Before the coming of Unicron, Rodimus was already a talented warrior, recognized by his comrades for his potential and his lack of patience. When he became Rodimus Prime, he immediately set out to lead from the front. He was always the first on the battlefield, and the last off, thrusting himself into the deepest danger rather than asking any of the robots under his command to sacrifice themselves.

so that must be a new matrix if it fits in his chest

I was really hoping he had one of those price/date placecards in front of him.
Anguirus
Offshoot is SO CUTE!

Ya, I'm not sure how that is going to work. The matrix that comes with MP-09 is tiny, I cant see how anything much bigger would fit in his chest. Unless you have to leave his chest mis-transformed like the back of box pic in order to fit the new matrix.
cryotek
I like how Hasbro use the "hot rod" mode.

Hopefully around June. *Wishful thinking*

glad i'm not the only one to notice that, looked at it for a second thinking that looks nothing like his Rodimus Prime form..then scroll down, okay, i'm not crazy.
General Tekno
Also of note, the tailpipes are indeed chromed.

Woohoo!

This guy looks gorgeous - he's gonna become Rodimus Prime on my shelf next to the Takara Hot Rod.
Ra88
He doesn't look as good as the Takara version, but the extras are very nice indeed. I think I'll pick this up if I see it, could always paint the legs black myself. And I wonder if they remolded the entire front of the car so that it can hold the larger Matrix.
Autovolt 127
I must have MP Rodimus. I won't miss him like i did with Grimlock.
Powersa
Yeah i plan to get one. Guess we don't know retail price yet.
Cheebs
I'll give it this: The finish on the plastic and the overall deco looks a thousand times better out if the packaging. I guess the clear bubble cast a harsh sheen. It looks pretty good actually...

Still doesn't touch the Takara deco, but it is squarely in the realm of "great".
Kaijumaster
Boy I'm glad that Rumor of them ditching the Trailer turned out to be real. This guy is BOUGHT!

It was less of a rumor, more of a foregone conclusion.

No mention of the visor or hot rod face... I wonder if they were taken out?!?1

Or a new chest. I'm really curious about this aspect.

I still like the Takara deco better, but this figure is looking more and more interesting.

Hopefully Hasbro can answer that tomorrow.

Lol what? They say on the package that he transforms from "Rodimus" to "Rodimus Prime." What is there other than extending the legs and swapping the face?
Coaxial
Such a gorgeous cherry red. SEXY AS HELL. So buying like 2 or 3 of these.

Angling the spoiler.
jerminator
It looks badass and all...but I think I prefer the cartoon accuracy of the Takara version...now to wait for their reissue...but I love the idea of having a MP targetmaster Hot Rod too...
thecollector
WANT. I hope I can find one in stores when its out!
Megatronwp38
That looks sharp! I will get it. Where does it say the new matrix fits in his chest? I think it's just the MP 01 matrix honestly.
msol
I'm very happy about the face, it looks so much better here than Takara's. It's still a bit John Kerry, but compare these two pics...

Hasbro

Takara

Maybe a different plastic type brings out the detailing better?

Also, what's with the red hips?
Cadbane
Too bad Offshoot won't sit in the car otherwise it will be a perfection.

I see on the side of the box where it says it fits in the chest. I wonder how? That's pretty big and his chest cavity is small.
Tiller
They probably remolded the chest so that the new (old?) matrix sits inside there. I really love the target master and the additional paint on the guns makes me happy. This is the one to get as far as I'm concerned.
PowermasterJazz
Looks all right.
The Bucket Kitten
Now I'm REALLY glad I didn't buy the Takara version.
deaculpa
oh yeah. bought.
hupla
Oh man if this thing is out on FRIDAY then he isnt even meant to be a big suprise from the Bro :O

Can not WAIT to see what they have in store!
autobotsfire
Really excited about this. Defo buy on sight.

Don't mean to rain on anyone's parade but some of the people heaping praise on this figure are some of the people that were going to avoid it because of the qc issues with the Takara release, given it's the same mould it's more than likely going to have the same qc issues unless Hasbro has stated they're going to make some improvements that I'm not aware of. And if this is the case it means that the initial bunch that avoided the first run as a result of the complaints from this board and other sources avoided it mainly because the aesthetics and price tag weren't enough to compensate for the poor qc issues but with the price tag and aesthetics of this hasbro version the qc issues can be overlooked, am I right! Double standards!

Awesome! I dont like this mold for $200 but I like it in the $75-$90 range.

Then this should make you even happier: $49.99

Damn that Targetmaster hommage on the shin guards looks retarded. Glad I bought the Takara version to display in robot form...I still might stick this in the trailer for the Winnebago goodness.

A release in July?! Nice!
Fort Max
Wow, Botcon is really delivering this year and they haven't even got to panels yet. This is a fantastic release, Hasbro came up with a really nice alternate deco and some sweet extras to go with the much more palatable price.

Cannot wait to get this, was so bummed about having to say no to Takara's release.

I can't even follow this block 'o text.

However, it is clearly a new run, due to the different colors of plastic. It also might be remolded in the chest, to accomodate the new Matrix. Plus that TM had to come from somewhere!

Also, check out that new price. It's a FOURTH of what MP-10 is. Even if TRU ups the price like that year, that's a frakking good deal. And yes, it's entirely logical that QC expectations rise along with price.

Look up what a double standard is.

ARP: $49.99 and releasing in July 2011...Woah! Kudos Hasbro! Kudos!

He is $50, YES!!!
mags2424
Why the translucent blue streak on the roof of the car, kinda sloppy in my opinion. Also I just hope the tru by me gets it. I have hopes I'm one of the only tf collectors in my county.
igniz1984
doubt its going to be 49.99. TRU is going to jack the price up just like they did on mp grimlock. If I remember correctly he was listed as arp 59.99 when first announced, then listed at 64.99 on tru.com, and then a few weeks later they bumped the price to 74.99

The point being the qc issues weren't acceptable at $200 or whatever MP-09 was going for but they're now acceptable at the lower price that this is going for by the same people who avoided the first batch because of all the complaints, duh!

And just because it has different plastic doesnt make it a new mould it's just a variation of MP-09, just as MP-04 and sleep mode convoy are of the same moulds just different variations!

This is very true sadly. Damn TRU.

"Rodimus converts to Rodimus Prime" <------LOL, muahhahah.

Hm, is it my eye or does that back pack clip looks like it has more thickness or durable than MP9?

With just $50, I am 70% sure I'll get him for my MP9 Winnebago mode.
Gosh, that chrome pipe and that dark gray hands look so mishmash, hehee.

Still the base price of $49.99 is great news. I don't mind it being $59 or $69.
