So full of epic...

That is an awesome TF.
megatroptimus
Epic indeed. Come on AmiAmi!

I don;t think the matrix has ever been shown in Rodimus.

Nice find and nice pics.
slugslinger2004
As awesome as those pics are, I'm still undecided upon whether or not to cancel my preorder. The lack of pics focusing on the trailer are making me lean towards the Hasbro version.
Batman
Everything about him looks so good. I love the spoiler and the colors. The wait is killing me.
ArmadaJetPrime
Masterpiece says it all! I cant wait to see what the MP-1L Final Edition Optimus is gonna look like with all of its bells and whistles that are still unknown but I sure hope it includes the trailer WITH roller or issue a new and improved trailer seperatley.

Well im sure it would'nt include the trailer for the price they're asking but im betting they will reissue an updated version of the trailer seperatly or a Final Edition with the trailer for a higher price.

Oficially, you have the best username ever.

Talking 'bout the figure, I can't believe toy enginering (engeneering? I don't know, my grammar sucks) Has come to this level. This masterpiece will show us everyting Takara can give out at the moment. It is unfortunate that I will never get it.
Tiller
The trailer still sucks, and no one is taking pictures of what the back kibble looks like, which is the only thing keeping me from thinking about plunking down on a Hasbro release purely do to his Hot Rod Alt Mode.
Omegax80
Any word if Hasbro is going to release this version? I thought I read somewhere they are releasing without the trailer and comes with a Targetmaster instead. If that is the case.. just call it Masterpiece Hot Rod since it won't really be Rodimus.

Yes Toys R Us exclusive sans trailer.
RedHeadKevin
I don't think they can use "Masterpiece Hot Rod." I think it's copyrighted as an adult toy.
Type-R
Oo. He's looking even nicer than the magazine and stock photos we've seen.

I'm not sure if it's the lighting but Hot Rod/Rodimus' colors are looking a more screen accurate shade of magenta.

Just another week to go till I get my hands on him.
Deadend
Can't wait for the US version. ANd is that a new matrix? It looks smaller than MP primes. Does it open too or come out?
b.winn1
O man Im glad the wait is almost over
darkunor
I'm 20000% certain i'm getting this figure but I only have one gripe with it, there seems to be a cavity (3rd picture from he top) on top of the rodimus's trailer cab, what is it, it really irks me, is there anyway it can be concealed?

From what I've seen, yes, this is a new Matrix. I personally like how the handles are more curved than MP-01's Matrix. And sadly, yes, since MP-09 is not to scale with MP-01 and MP-05, it is very likely smaller.
process
I can only hope TRU MP Hot Rod will look as good. It's a real shame that trailer doesn't do anything for me.
Lord Of Tetris
What's that photo with Rodimus' cockpit removed trying to show us? Is the Rodimus cockpit a removable part?

It's showing how Hot Rod docks into the trailer with the front of the trailer swinging over to cover up.
Tux Chaos X
OK, I love the sportster, and I like the robot modes, but... argh. One, I can't get over how cheaty the Winnebago transformation is. I realize that it's probably impossible to get the main cab section snuck into the hot rod vehicle, but I can't believe the best they could do is a hinged hood and windshield. Where does it go when the trailer becomes the MDB? Hidden underneath the platform?

Two, that back kibble. It's a minor irritation, but without having it in hand it just looks like a bulky mess back here. I have a similar concern with MP G1 Starscream, but at least with him it doesn't jut out and make him look like he'll fall over backwards.

It's a shame, because I feel the whole thing really had potential. As it stands, though, I can't see myself springing the extra money for what essentially amounts to an upscaled version of the trailer we got in '86. Heck, at least that one managed to squeeze the cannon completely in the shell; this one needs to poke that little black block out of the top -_-. If I ever pick it up, it will be the Hasbro version.

still iffy on the apparent lack of forward leg articulation..

The crotch panel pivots. There was a photo somewhere, but there's no way I'll be able to find it.

Does anyone know what extra goodies are coming with this MP? All these pics and no word on what accessories are coming with him.
hotrod422
I cannot wait until this comes! Mine is pre-ordered, and paid for. CANNOT WAIT!!!!!
Skywave
For some reason I can't get over how the back kibble protrude from the side of the waist in front view, totally kill the slim silouette they gave to the robot mode.

Also something about the car mode seems off, like the hood don't follow the windshield line, wich make the car kinda crooked or something.

But maybe with a cheaper Hasbro version without a lousy trailer I'll get it, but won't get it if it have a trailer too.
Lord Of Tetris
These photos completely sold me on the Hasbro version. I would have been happy to pay the Takara fee for what I thought was a fully-functional 4-changer, because I was under the impression that the trailer-less Hasbro version would essentially leave us with some kind of "front half of Winnegabo with no trailer" mode. I was not willing to tolerate having a front of a Winnebago without that trailer.

With the Rodimus figure (robot) itself unable to form a "front half of Winnegabo" mode without the assistance of the trailer piece, we're not going to have that problem. We're not going to transform him into Winnebago mode and go "Darn, if only I had that trailer!" because it'll just be some kind of deformed shape.
AutobotBee
From what I read, the Hasbro version doesn't come with the trailer, but has some other stuff to 'make up for it'. I read that in an article posted here some time ago I think.

I tend to agree with Skywave about the back bit. After getting FP's "Protector" and absolutely loving it, I'm not sure I even want this now. I have one reserved, but unless we can get some shots of his back to see what's going on there, maybe I don't need one after all.

I canceled my preorder. For some reason, I couldn't justify an extra $140 for a trailer that I'd end up leaving in the box. But, that's just me. Can't wait for the Hasbro version, though!
G1Jetfire
Better pics that what were on what appeared to be a box panel some months back. Since he is due out around the end of a month, a video review is what I am looking for to reinforce my reason for preordering him.
megatroptimus
Weren't people convinced the Hasbro version would come out before Takara's at some point?
Kevin XI
Hmmm, I think I'll get the hasbro version. I can live without the trailer. The only thing wrong with the bot mode is that back kibble. The figure looks kinda gappy and foldy (?) when viewed from the side.

Did you get any flak for cancelling? I know that TFsource and others are pretty strict about preorders and claim the right refuse to do future business with you if you cancel.
OMEGAPRIME1983
Wonder if the Hasbro release will come with a Trgetmaster, Daniel w/hover board, and a fishing rod.. That might warrant a second purchase for me.. if not.. This will suffice

I usually pre-order with BBTS, and I've had no problems when I canceled my pre-orders in the past.

this times a million. I had already cancelled my Tak version months ago, but a small part was still a little worried. Now, thats gone. I still worry about the back kibble, but I know full well that regardless of that I will buy the US release
SideswipePrime
cool, but im not gonna pay another hundred for a trailer, ill wait for the hasbro release, and i hope the matrixlights up like mp optimus's, im sure it will
Liege Prime
Looks excellent, can't wait, but really wish there were more pictures.
MROptimusPrime
I would buy this, but the cab of the truck not being from the car is lame. Its just a shell former in truck mode.
theestampede
sssoo good looking, cant wait for the US release, dont have the extra fundings for the JPN release at the moment.
jasonmako
Oh I'm so going to the bank tomorrow and placing a TFSource Preorder!!! And even if Hasbro does a U.S release I'm still buying that to. He is so awesome and I do hope there is a fishing pole and Daniel fig.
mx-01 archon
The amount of people criticizing Takara for not managing the physically impossible is rather sad.

He needs all the real estate in his base body as it is to form his car mode. There's no way in hell they'd be able to fit an entire second canopy and hood into his body.

I can see why "purists" might not necessarily enjoy the solution they came up with, and that's fine. But the disappointment I'm hearing makes it sound as if you actually expected anything else. Which I guess does fit into the amount of wishful thinking silliness that's become something of an epidemic lately...

It's also not news. It was speculated as much the moment the galleries went up of the resin prototype at the toy show in China, which showed how the wheel arches in camper mode were the rear wheels of his car, and plenty of comprehensive shots showing the makeup of his kibble, showing no traces at all of the Rodimus Prime vehicle bits. If that wasn't enough, a good number of the magazine scans in recent month have showed off the basics of his transformation, including the hood/canopy parts swinging out from under the trailer.
Josh
True that mx

I'm buying takara solely for winnebago mode. I just LOOOOOOOVE the look of that alt mode!

Cant wait to get mine!
Sy-Rein
I'm so looking forward to this figure. And the great part is my wife just gave me permission to get him (or in other words keep the preorder I've had since he was first preorderable) and another great part is he'll hopefully be in my hands by my b-day in late Feb.

I guess though, if I had any sort of gripe about it, it would be that I kind of wish there was a bit more height difference between HR and RP bot modes. But all in all, I'd say that's a pretty minor one considering the amazing job the designers have done.

I honestly fully expected them to have to include the trailer to make RP's bot mode, similar to what the Fans Project(?) figure did. But really after seeing that one, I'm glad they did the MP like they've done. The 'winnebago' mode of the classics one, while cool to a degree, just doesnt look right with the elongated HR hood. I think the MP looks much, much better with the stubby front hood and shortened windshield, even if it has to store under the trailer. And really, at least they made it store away when not in use and not be a seperate accessory that'd end up being lost or broken.
