Easy pass. But I know a lot of people like these ehobby exclusive repaints (or whatever this repaint is) so the more power to you all.

it's a fun mold i don't mind owning more of. $100 isn't a lot to build up a small fleet of autobot cars

For being a straight up Yellow repaint, the only justification of the $100 tag is because it's an exclusive. This is not taking my fancy. Yet

I passed on SS and RA because there's a decent chance that Hasbro will eventually do them.

This is not the case with Tigertrack.

Why would he have a different head? The original toy was just a Sideswipe redeco.

You make a great point although I don't think you meant to make it. If Lambor is being released in yellow as Tigertrack then there is no way Sunstreaker is not getting its own mould. Sweet.

Surely they'd have gotten info from Takara before putting it up? They have a new Takara product number on there, after all.

Not really. Something similar happened before. Reminds me of that falsely rumored mass release United Artfire a few months back, it also had a number.

It wasn't a false rumor. It was solicited to the online stores from wherever they get them. It was just a mistake on the order sheet is all.

Love this mold. Ordered this Tigertracks. This ALSO gives me hope for my white whale of Transformers, the BLUE Bluestreak.

So any chance we will see an MP Sunstreak with this or another mold???

I'd much rather have them than G2 Swideswipe. New characters over repaint upgrades anytime.

Is tigertrack a japanese G1 character? from the comics?

It's a Jap exclusive character, whose original figure was only available through a mail away. Never showed up in media. He was a homage to the old Diaclone figure from which Sideswipe was derived from.

Well the pics of the apparent MP Tigertrack shown on Actoys are from a custom in the Radicons......there are also G2 and SG customs

Congratulations to everyone who wants him though. I'll echo comments others have put in about more screen characters!

As you stated, the original G1 figure was a straight repaint of G1 Sideswipe; it therefore stands to reason that any Masterpiece homage would be a straight repaint of Masterpiece Sideswipe.

From a sales standpoint however, it might be desirable to increase the uniqueness factor of such a figure; especially given that Tigertrack not only borrows Sideswipe's mold, but also Sunstreaker's bright yellow color scheme. One way of achieving this aim would be to alter the existing head sculpt, or provide some form of replacement noggin.

Of course, this is entirely conjectural; it is entirely possible that we will end up with a straight repaint, followed by straight repaints for Clamp Down, Deep Cover, and G2 Sideswipe.

I'm thinking it fairly likely that Hasbro will eventually bring Masterpiece Sideswipe to market. If their release history is any indication however, we could be looking at a delay of at least a year and scatter-shot distribution primarily through some brick and mortar retail outlet.

Tigertrack should have a black head like the original toy. However, it is also perfectly acceptable to use Masterpiece Red Alert's head instead of Sideswipe's.

it bothers me to no end that people honestly had doubts he would never get his own mold (talking about sunstreaker)

though i am kinda surprised they are visiting tigertrack so early

look at the time frame we recieved sideswipe in october his recolor in december. and have now heard the news of the next recolor in a 4 month span. pretty impressive compared to the glaciel like speed of the MP line we once knew

i hope we get a G2 soon!

Well Starscream got a repaint in Thundercracker (Hasbro) and Sunstorm (Takara) in a similar amount of time. I guess it's faster when they're just repaints

Somebody in the closed thead said they wanted Clamp Down and that how he was different enough to Red Alert. He's really not.

Clamp Down was just Red Alert with some different stickers. Acceptable for a repaint of the reissue but probably not for a Masterpiece. I would rather Clamp Down be a white police car recolor of Masterpiece Sunstreaker (if they ever do one). Okay so it looks different to his original toy but still works.


Also, Takara should release a repaint of the 1984 Sideswipe mold as Breakdown giving them an excuse to repaint Masterpiece Sideswipe into Breakdown. Not all Masterpiece toys have to resemble a cartoon character, they could resemble a paticular toy instead. But a repaint of MP Sideswipe as Breakdown first would probably be too random.

If they were to do new 1984 Autobots for Masterpiece, I would like Sunstreaker, Mirage or Wheeljack to be next - the ones they couldn't reissue the original toys of.

meh...never was into tigertrack, nor the yellow pre TF sideswipe. now when they finaly DO get around to doing a proper sunstreaker, i WILL be down for a red repaint of that if they do one...since i owned and LOVED the original pre TF diaklone version i had way back in the day.

Does anybody have any ideas on who a red repaint of Sunstreaker could be?

Maybe they should just give him a G2 Autobot insignia and call him G2 Sunstreaker.
