This 30 thing kinda failed combiner wars has made us fans more happy
griffin-of-oz
This week I received the final two that I was wanting (I don't have all 32, as some are identical to other releases), so now the collage of logos is complete for anyone who is morbidly interested… as it is almost two years after this series began.
(the image file is the same, so previous postings will have updated as well)
I needed the Silver Knight First Edition Optimus for the one logo that was missing (28), while I needed the Walmart 3-pack to verify that it didn't have the logo despite it being listed on a Hasbro press-release (as 14).
So below is the 30 of 32 of 30…
(there are only 30 logos of the 32 toys officially announced as being "the 30" that were supposed to be in the set)
Such a waste of a once-in-a-lifetime event.
While I think of it, some comparison photos of the last two sets I bought, with some related toys.
US Target Silver Knight First Edition Optimus, with the blue version we got here.
.
And the Walmart packs, with the 3-pack on the left, the 2-packs in the middle, and the single packs (which we got here at BigW) on the right.
The Deluxe Strafe is identical to the regular release AND the Evolutions release. They couldn't even change something on one of the three Strafes to make it worth buying a second or third of it. The Evolutions Bumblebee, Optimus and Grimlock were different to their regular releases, but Strafe and Slag weren't…. which is even more of a waste for this Anniversary set, as it has so many duplicate toys for a series that should have been for unique, special, limited, exclusive toys.
I didn't end up getting 7, 9 & 27 (BH Ultimate Optimus, MP Soundwave, MP Prowl) because they were too identical to want.
So thank Primus that's now over… although, if I get one more, I'll technically have "30 of 30"…
.
Nevermore
Some of these are given really odd names in these graphics.
The Cybertron Con exclusive Ultimate Beast Hunter Optimus Prime is a "First Edition" figure? The ""30th Anniversary Knights of Unicron Set", previously also referred to as the "Til All Are One Tour Pack" by Hasbro Toy Shop, is now the "30th Anniversary Tour Edition"? Make up your minds already, guys!
In addition, the graphic for the SDCC Shockwave's Lab set depicts the packaging of the Cybertron Con version (SDCC sports an "A5615" product code sticker and an additional SDCC sticker, Cybertron Con only has an "A6578" product code sticker).

So far I've bought 6 releases from the 30, plan on getting at least 3 more. Wow, surprised by how much I've bought.

Leaves items I won't be getting…
7 – PRIME BEAST HUNTERS ULTIMATE OPTIMUS PRIME – Asian Exclusive Edition (Mid July 2013 – US$60) (already have regular version)
9 – MASTERPIECE SOUNDWAVE Set (5 cassettes) – ToysRUs Exclusive (July 2013) (bought but then sold off for being almost identical to JP version)
27 – MASTERPIECE MP-04 Prowl – ToysRUs Exclusive (July 2014 – US$60) (already have JP version)
I wasn't planning on getting the HK Metroplex or Shockwave's Lab either, but one was on clearance at BBTS and the other was a birthday present. At least there was something unique with each of them though… the remaining three items are identical to toys in my collection already, so I have no interest in getting them just to complete the set.
Mine still hasn't arrived yet, but looking at that video, the packaging logos are the same as the Walmart 2-packs. Red on white on one side, and white on red on the other.
Not looking good for the "14 of 30" logo.
32 toys in the list, and only 30 logos end up being printed on boxes.
Grimwing
Well I got 21 of them and most of those are still sealed in their boxes. I guess you can see it as a cross section of the most recent era of transformers as it relates back to the Original Generation.
Fall of Cybertron, Transformers Prime, Age of Extinction, IDW/Generations, and Masterpiece.
Its all kind of there.
This list was made by marketers and its kind of abhorrent that so many convention exclusives are on it.
Nevermore
Okay, the packaging is rotated in this video review, and there appears to be no "14 of 30" logo on the box, only a fully white Autobot insignia.
So we have two toys with "28 of 30" printed on the box, and two products Hasbro claimed to be "14 of 30" at different points (see the press release for First Edition Optimus Prime) even though the number doesn't appear on either box.
thewiredknight
I have to agree. The laziest of all is that there were two repeats on that list. The number I actually cared about was so ludicorusly small (Metroplex, Soundwave, Prowl, Windblade and Jetfire) that the whole thing just felt half-assed (maybe even quater-assed).
Afterburner
Unfortunately, considering the amount of repeats, randomly colored figures, and shoehorned homages that make no sense, the list is more like a thrilling 5 (Metroplex, Soundwave, Prowl, Windblade, Jetfire).
boxorak
Eh, at least we got a giant Metroplex out of it.
Also, I know what you people are going to say, and I don't care.
ArmedonLSD
Thrill me and make a sky lynx! Really underwhelmed with alot of stuff that came out the past year.
lars573
I was talking about real generations. In fact I was very specific in my counting of real generations made the cut.
Autovolt 127
Yeah this wasn't that thrilling in the long run.
A lot of these exclusives I wasn't' interested in getting at all. I think my standards were too high for what was supposed to be thrilling 30.
SPLIT LIP
Generations.
As in characters from many TF Generations, of which the movies are a Generation.
You failed to be literal at all.
Snoopy Magnus
damn, such a waste of great tf history/toy line potential. this could have easily been a perfect 30 fig set for all collectors to keep on their shelves and realized "wow, this set is awesome". maybe hasbro needs to come back around to this and have the "even more thrilling 30, but this time for real!"
YoungPrime
Real Generations not Bayformer's crap.
Didn't know I had to be so literal.
T-Hybrid
So many missed opportunities. I get we weren't going to 30 all-new figures, but they couldn't have better represented the history of the line?
Heck, I'd have settled for various CHUG Re-releases representing each series. Nothing from Beast Wars/Machines? They didn't number Sky-Byte to represent RiD?
It seems like many of these were included as an afterthought when they realized they needed more figures. Three versions of Metroplex? Two of the Shockwave's lab set? A One-Step figure?
Ew.
WWELORD
And the gold metal Goes to……this guy
HereticalHeresy
Most likely. And it's not like all of them were easy to get on shelves. There is a ton of convention stuff. I mean, what are the chances someone went out to the respective conventions for the 2 Metroplex figures, and the 2 Shockwaves?
