Hello and welcome to another TFW2005 event coverage! Hasbro held a webcast today to inform us about the upcoming New York Toy Fair 2011 and we; the news crew of TFW2005 attended the event live over the internet, on behalf of our beloved members. Three and a half hour of corporate speech, but this is Hasbro we are talking about… It’s Fun, Fun, Fun.

Let’s get to the business shall we? First of all… the highlights:
  • Transformers: Dark of the Moon Optimus Prime Render
  • Transformers: Rescue Bots
  • DOTM Ultimate Optimus Prime Official Image
  • MAJOR REVEAL regarding an upcoming video game.
  • Cyberverse, Mechtech, RobotHeroes Official Logos
  • More DOTM Merchandise
  • Up-close look at a brand new Optimus Prime Render

And now, on to the main event… You can read our entire coverage after the jump. And watch for more images and information here on TFW2005 tomorrow.

TFW2005, the best for you… always!

Mr. Brian Goldner (President and CEO) stepped onto the stage for the first presentation. It was an introduction. While he was presenting the crowd was surprised to see the Render of Optimus Prime we’ve seen not too long ago. Not much was revealed.

Up next it was Deb Tomas (Chief Financial Officer). Hub is doing well… very well it seems. 2011 is going to be an awesome financial year for Hasbro. Good Luck Guys!

Big moment came when Mr. Goldner came back to talk. We’ll get Transformers Rescue Bots for little kids (Playskool).
In Transformers, as of July 1st we have a 3D movie hitting theaters all around the world. We are releasing merchandise earlier based on popular demand from retailers and consumers, with all new toyline with several new segments you’ll get to see. We have an Activision video game which will act as a prequel to the Dark of the Moon Movie” said Mr. Goldner. “New for 2011, we have created a Transformers MMOG in partnership with Net Dragon. Transformers going global with 220 licensees and multiple categories of products.”

“In our own brands, we have Transformers: Dark of the Moon in July 1st. (G. I. Joe 2 coming in 2013)" he continued. "In Transformers if you stick with us on Monday night, we are going to show you much more of the movie and Michael is going to be here with you. But I thought to share with you a commercial you may have missed on the Superbowl. [trailer playing] Imagine what that’s going to look like in 3D.”

Stay tuned with us for our New York Toy Fair 2011 Coverage!

Are the Rescue bots the new Robot Heroes. They're in the same category as Superhero squad and galactic Heroes. This would be AWESOME !!!!
Red Goblin
It ain't DOTM Bumblebee... But Ultimate Prime start to growing on me. Thanks for the info!

Does anyone else think that that shot of the new combined Optimus Prime looks alot better than the shot we saw the other day?

Looks a lot more poseable than I had feared. It's not quite a big block o' toy.

i agree with ya. for some strange reason it does.
im not sure if its the way its at a angle or what...hmmm maybe i shouldnt have been so harsh on judgeing it....
ZacWilliam
as the father of a soon to be 3yr old I really want to see what Rescue Bots are. The ideal: robots cute and superdeformed like the Heroes lines but that actually Transform. Hey, I can dream.

ZacWilliam eager for pics.
tehKOREANdude
the powered up optimus prime looks better in a non-static pose. the posability is obviously incredibly hampered by the actual lack of partsforming. the leg apparatus continuing to be attached to the rest of the trailer while probably inhibit knee posability. regardless, i still want one.
Optimus1986
Eh...I like Ultimate Prime fine, but the price for him is just ridiculous. I'll stick with the Voyager.

Cool that the VG is a prequel.

Good. I'm not the only one who thinks that.
Rogzilla
I'm glad I changed my stance on Ultimate Prime to wait and see. Cause I waited...and am seeing...and am MUCH more impressed!
Ravenxl7
Ultimate Op continues to look good. Still not sure I'll get him. Waiting to see exactly how big he is to decide. It's nice to see that his articulation might not be as hampered as I originally thought. Aesthetically speaking, the only thing I would do is give him a helmet of some sort. As-is he looks like his head's been shrunk...

Can't wait to see, and read about, what this Toy Fair will be showing. Just want to give a big Thank You to those that are going to the event and reporting back to the rest of us.

Ain't Photoshop a wonderful thing...
the unacronner
wtf? is that optimus prime or the monarch? that looks so horrible and hilarious at the same time..."new butterfly blast prime" ..lack of creativity for sure with that trailer

So let me guess, we will have 220 products with Bumblebee and/or Optimus Prime's faces plastered on them, and ignore the thousands of OTHER characters in the Transformers franchise right?

Remember the good old days of Wheeljack pencil toppers and Snarl stampers? When OTHER characters got the merchandise?
FanimusMaximus
Ultimate Optimus looks better at this angle, still not worth 80 bucks though.

I can't wait to see how many people end up agreeing with you.

But we're transformers fans! We never jump the gun!

I'll admit to being one of that gun jumping number. It does look better than the previous pic, but I still wont be parting with megabucks for the pleasure of owning it. ROTF prime is still the difinitive move prime for me.

Now, If they released ROTF Prime (buster version with faceplate head) plus power-up trailer, i'll happily talk turkey!

I doubt that will happen. At best, we might get a re-release of the ROTF with a Mechtech jetpack of some sort..which I'd actually be OK with. :-P
Anguirus
I can only speak for me, but I'm actually happy that they didn't somehow black magic up a crazy-go-nuts Optimus that would be a must buy for me, despite having the RotF Leader.

Not, sarcastically happy. Actually happy. (And it doesn't mean I hate the thing, either.)
Ra88
Wow, glad I was wrong about Ultimate Prime. He actually looks pretty good here. The same problems I have with it are still there, but they're a lot less noticeable when posed correctly. Though I think I'll still skip this guy in favor for the Japanese Jetwing Prime, depending on how that will look.
Deadboy
Wait, people are changing their minds on Ultimate Prime? Huh. I still think it looks like garbage. Wish they had done something much more like Powermaster Prime instead of this weird fairy look.
The Bucket Kitten
I'll admit, Butterfly Prime looks better in that photo, but it is still shit in my eyes.

Transformers fans jump the gun like it's a jump rope.
Draven
Ultimate Prime does look better from that angle; he's starting to remind me of a Brave toy, which IMO is no bad thing. Whether he's £90 worth of Brave toy, however, is another matter entirely.

It's called a first impression. It's formed based using available information from the first look at something. It is subject to change as and when further information comes in.
megatroptimus
Ultimate Prime is looking better and better combined! Hurray!
SPLIT LIP
Wow, super-optimus looks a HELL of a lot better here. he looks like a regular robot toy, with the wings. Not sure I'll get him though, but deffinately looks better.

Yeah, I see it now. The angle of the wings and the overall shape of the arms and legs.
Miggytron
I still think it looks like ass. If the wings had some hinges to make them fold into interesting shapes (think Buster Prime's gun), it might've been cool. As it stands it just looks like a flat panel of plastic.
exomega255
Better. Keep trying.
RedAlert Rescue
Optimus for me has a few slight issues that make me look at him and think --That I still prefer the ROTF one.

It has some good points too - it's probably easier to Transform - and it allows somewhre convenient to dump all those stray Mech-tech weapons.

However it seems to lack even silver paint on the trailer let alone chrome. that silver plastic used to make Legends Sideswipe was OKish at a push but grey is not something I'd relish or anything to non-shiny.

As for his giant Butterfly wearing wellingtons mode - it's a giggle - as a humor piece it's without peer as an example of what I hoped a Modern Powermaster Prime would look like it's a complete failure.

Optimus looks cool in his jetpack though so hopefully as others have said someone will see us saved by that - and if Takara can't be bothered It can't be that hard for someone like Igear to make a wingpack accessory for ROTF Voyager or Leader Optimus.

I think they might be doing one of somekind though if only as that Optimus-in space Voyager seems so ideally suited to having a wing pack slapped on it.

Perhaps they might make the pile of guns and engines as some sort of accessory or even include bits of it as a build-a-figure with other toys.

But Jet-optimus looks bad ass Fairy-Prime looks silly Wing-Optimus however still looks like he kicks butts and takes names (faces).
Valkysas
side panels on optimus aren't attached to his legs in robot mode. looks much better. loved him before, love him more now.
Trailbreaker77
Well I doubt I will see anything at this years show that will interest me. Looks to me like all movie stuff which does not surprise me they are trying to get retail chains on board.
Dinobot Nuva
Aw man I can't wait to see all the random stuff they show off this year. Lookin' forward to it news crew!

Well Draven, you know me. I love movie toys, but this years I´m hardly impressed by them.

Yeah, it looks better, but it´s still mediocre looking IMO.
Astrotrain52
Okay, apologies to Hasbro for overreacting to the initial Ultimate Optimus Prime photos we saw. From that angle he doesn't look too bad, and if I'm right, it looks like his forearm wheels can be hidden in his regular bot mode (those armor gauntlets look way too small to house the front wheels as is). I'm still not going to get him initially; going to wait until it's marked down at least $10 (or I get a gift card to Target or Walmart).

Bring on more coverage!
OptimusTron97
This years show is not half as overwhelming as last year's.

Fire J-Decker?
springerbee
is it just me or is Optimus Prime's face plate flatter?
crasis
New ROBOT HEROES?!! Or something similar? Sounds fun.
Liege Prime
I think Ultimate Prime looks better without the parts connecting the leg armor. I would be overally more happy if you could remove the wings, mainly because they don't look anything like wings, and because his body armor does look good if it maintains some amount of articulation.

It's not the combined form that sucks, it's him by himself with those hideous forearms.
Toxicon
Ultimate Prime looks even better now. I am steadfast in my opinion that he looks like a hell of a lot of fun.
Scorpio
Prime toy still looks terrible. The articulation is still the same, no leg articulation. Will still not buy it!

I think you got it right on the nose. He looks like he'll be a BLAST. Honestly, he's not the most accurate depiction of Prime but he might become my main Prime. I'm thinking that the OP we saw without the armor was deffinitely not fully transformed. The lower part of the grill isn't attached to the top, which makes me think it might be able to fold up. If the wheels could detatch and attach to the ankles, I'd be extremely happy.

Are you sure about that? I think I see some hinge joints in the knee area and articulation in the foot.

You and me both.
Paxtin
There's something unsettling about Bumblebee and Elmo being in the same picture.

And yeah, new picture of U-Prime looks better, but still not all that great.
The wheels on the tips of the wings still bug me.
