I wonder if Hasbro really believes Battleship will be as big as Transformers for them?

That movie has box office flop and Rassie awards written all over it. I've been wrong before though (at least about box office). We'll see...

No mention at all of the trilogy line, just the comment that almost all Tformers would be Prime stuff.
Ravenxl7
The Battle Ship stuff sounds good, though I'm slightly disappointed that it doesn't sound like they'll be doing any action figures. I'd love to see the alien design made as a 6" action figure. Would probably display nicely with my Halo figures.

Nothing too surprising from the Transformers blurb. Kre-O sounds like it'll be good. The "quest for energon" theme sounds interesting. There is one line that I find kind of interesting:

Is it me, or does it sound like retailers have finally lost interest in stocking anymore movie refuse?

Sounds more like Hasbro basically saying: Hey, this is the new visual style for the franchise now. Get use to it.

At least when it comes to the main line. We're obviously still going to get some Generations and a few left over movie toys.
mrduce1018
So, did they completely nix the 'Movie Trilogy' line?

I would be ok with that. Honestly I am over the movie molds and plan to spend my money on Prime figures and Generations. I cannot think of a single Movie trilogy type toys I would want at this point...

Am reading this right? They're going to use the facial expressions of Transformers Prime for all transformers, or am I being too literal?

The only ones I really want are Deluxe Soundwave, Que & leadfoot. One's that were supposed to come out & have yet to.

I love the Botshots, will buy them all!

I miss Robot Heroes, and love Battle Beasts.

Some might suggest those with larger collections are more likely to look for them outside of standard retail?

I totally agree. I will be more than happy to not see any movie stuff on the shelf and to see the Prime design dominate. I think retailers are sick of having movie crap warm the shelves too. They don't have to worry much about losing the movie line, they will have those same crap figures they already have on the shelves for another year or two anyway.

Maybe I'm reading this wrong, but isn't that just referring to the TFP mainline officially hitting stores?

Don't forget Generations its still rumoured but I hope we at least see that Trailbreaker and Hoist that has been heavily hinted at.

If anything Prime Styling means they're going full on into the Prime series toy line. Like HFTD was a mix of more movie detailed stuff. Not that Generations doesn't have anything going on (it sure as hell does).

Even if we took it literally I can't see how that's bad for toys. At all.

44 Bot Shots!

Glad I'm not addicted (yet).

Also glad to see movie presence being played down. It's encouraging to see Hasbro going whole hog with something different rather than another sidelined thing opposite movie tie ins (particularly noting DotM's supposed success). Speaks volumes about their commitment to the Aligned Continuity - can't wait to see what they've got up their sleeves.

Maybe by squashing the movie look Hasbro is ready to change up the look of the live action movies. Then again Bay is on board so I doubt it.

If I were Hasbro I would change it up. ALL the main characters ,aka top sellers, have remained the same since 2007. Kids are bored of the look or already have multiples of everything. To sell more toys the movie look has to change.

Or they can just bank on Prime, some interview mentioned that Prime got a huge pop from being shown on the silverscreen and that they may look in to a Prime movie. Fingers crossed.

I think you're taking it too literal. Sounds more like corporate speak for, "Hey guys, TRANSFORMERS Prime is gonna be our main focus at retail this year."

I wouldn't be too surprised if we see those Movie Triogy figures, like the Wheeljack with the G1'ish head, show up in a short lived RID subline.

Kind of like how Reveal The Shield had both movie and generation figures in it. We've already seen that a couple of the movie Legion figures are being put out under the RID line.

Anything about the Movie Trilogy line?
EnerJohn
Honestly, can you blame them for axing the movie line? They don't sell! They have become such clusterf****s that look like shit! Would have liked a DOTM leader Megatron and Shockwave. Oh well, looks like my very small collection is done...

Those days are over for me. I have refocused on collecting and the importance of it to me and I can not bring myself to spend the money it would take for 3 deluxes. I would much rather wait and buy them at retial.

The only figure I spent that kind of money on recently was Over-run & only because my club memebership expired and I didn't renew. He fits with "Classics" & as they are my favorite line, I will spend the money on him.

I have a new hobby that is taking more of my time & money that I enjoy just as much, if not more.

All I care for now is that Kreo Battleship. Everything else after that can and will kick rocks.

My main interest was in FOC and the movie trilogy line. If there's no movie trilogy line, that will leave only FOC for me.

The Prime line has been too hit or miss - and frankly, I think RID BB, Hot Shot, Cliffjumper and Prime are worse than almost anything the DOTM line gave us (this is coming from someone who didn't care for the downscale or the mechtech with DOTM).

I have the FEs and will buy some Cyberverse, but that's about it. I'll continue to enjoy the show, but the toys just aren't doing anything for me.

A lot of money will be saved by me this year outisde of a possible 3rd party or custom purchase. Otherwise, I can see myself picking up an older figure or two that I missed in the past releases.

cool, excited to see more toys... no more movie toys doesn't bother me too much, still thinking about unloading all of mine...
Rogzilla
Where did they say that they weren't going to put out any new movie toys this year? I saw that they said most toys will be Prime toys, but we knew that. Prime toys are the mainline, Movie Trilogy/Generations/FOC are secondary.
Bgrngod
Bot Shots are doing everything they can to sneak onto my "BUY THIS STUFF!" list.

I am resisting... barely.
EnerJohn
I do like transformers prime, but will not collect the toys. I'll only buy soundwave from transformers prime. And if there is a fourth movie made and ALL the decepticons look more like organic monsters like the predators as they did in DOTM...I'm out. I like how some of the robots look in the movies, but the cons are just starting to look way too stupid...and this is coming from someone who only has movie transformers.

I don't recall an official announcement that had ever actually signed anything.

That being said, clearly there's a good chance he will do TF 4 after Pain and Gain or what ever it's called.
Yobuster
Yay! That's it for the DOTM movie line. That's a good thing too. I would say on average only 1/4 of the movie toys actually stood out for me. Most of them were meh. STill i would like Que, Soundwave and Leadfoot(target version) in deluxe scale. That way i can at least get my group of 3 Wreckers together finally.

I actually do enjoy Hasbro focusing on TF Prime, brings me back to the G1 days where they are all in the same universe. I guess FOC figs kind of work as well since it would technically be pre-TF Prime

We've also seen Prime and Megatron launchers that are Bot Shots with trailer launchers. Those might also count towards that number.

-ZacWilliam, doesn't want to get into Bot Shots, but darn it they're soooo collectable.

It didn't really say anything about the movie toys, which some are jumping the gun (As this fandom is want to do.) and interpreting it as meaning that they axed the Triogy line.

And to be fair, I could see that happening. But I also could see the molds that they've already made showing up in the RID line as well.

Habsro needs to wake up and know that it was TRANSFORMERS that made all the money not Michael Bay. What the movies made was the minimum any TF live action movie would make directed by any HACK, and yes Michael Bay is a HACK (this is from a movie buff not a TF fan) I can only imagine what a TF movie with an actual story line and not 95% action would be like.

Anyway Hasbro really needs to step away from the movies for about 3 years, work and build on Prime and then return with a reboot.
Thundershot
At this point, a deluxe DOTM Mirage is all I require. (got a Soundwave and Japanese Leadfoot through TFSource)

^ This

It amazes me how so many people think it's because of bay that transformers are doing so well!! It's not, it's a because people wanna see transformers, it doesn't matter who makes the movies. I would love to see the new movies directed by someone else. And how can people say we can't relate to transformers? we look like them body shape and fight over energy just like them. Fucking uncreative morons.

Hell, he didn't even wanna make these movies!!!
Wheeljack_Prime
I think people are blowing the Trilogy line bit stuff out of proportion; there should be a t least a few things that trickle out.

Besides, who cares if the trilogy line is truncated/cancelled? The whole point of it was to get out more movie product since they weren't planning on TF4 just yet. Since the wheels seem to be in motion for TF4 in some capacity, there's no need for the trilogy line. Just put it all on hold for a year or two.
Fort Max
We've seen shop computer listings for "movie all stars" in three sizes, so no, probably not dead just yet but hopefully refocused on making characters movie fans (young and old alike) actually want.

THIS! THIS! THIS! All day and twice on Tuesday!! I enjoyed the first flick but even it had HUGE problems. The second and third... wow. The ONLY... absolute ONLY reason Michael Bay has continued to show an interest in this franchise is the money. His backend on the films (and his share of profits from the toy sales... that's right... he makes money from the movie line toy sales as well) has set him and his future generations up for life. I know it's great to have Transformers at the apex of its popularity due to the films, however I dream of the franchise in someone else's hands who will show a little more appreciation and reverence for the property.

More on topic... 44 BOT SHOTS!! My son just fainted when I told him that. This should be a fun year!

There should be a solid-color version of Sentinel Prime too, probably from that 3-pack with Prowl.

I think the interesting thing here is how Hasbro's three major action figure brands all are joining into the "battle figures game" trend that has been so prevalent in the actions figures aisles as of late. First we're getting the Bots Shots and Fighter Pods for Transformers and Star Wars, and now there's something called Bonka Zonks for the Marvel line.

The really curious thing is that the three brands don't share a single unified game or style, it's 3 different games. I would've expected all three brands to share a single gaming strategy for these mini-fighter figures. Perhaps Hasbro is introducing 3 styles in the hopes that one of them will really catch on and be a hot seller, in which case they could add the other brands later on. For example, if Bonka Zonks (whatever they are) are the hottest seller, maybe we'll see Star Wars and GI JOE and Transformers branded Bonka Zonks by next Christmas.

I don't think Bay is a great director by any stretch of the imagination, but I disagree that anyone could have made Transformers just as successful and profitable. I think you're looking at it through rose colored glasses. And you have zero evidence that the movies Bay made was the minimum any TF film would make.
