 | | | Titanium Series to Return - 6 Inch Series Exclusive to Target | | Posted on 03-08-2009 at 01:24 PM by Kickback | Oh snap!
It looks like the 6 inch series of Titanium figures are making a come-back for the 25th Anniversary of the Transformers. Thanks to ACToys and S250, we see images for what appears to be Titanium Hot Zone, a repaint of Titanium War Within Optimus Prime, and a repaint of Starscream in to Titanium Thrust.
No idea when their release date is, but they appear to be Target exclusives.

Gotta say I wasn't expecting Titaniums to come back. Like Hot "Zone", and I'll have to think about the others. This does make me think there probably will be a Titanium exclusive for SDCC now.
(knowing the usual SDCC exclusive style, it'll probably be War Within Nemesis Prime.)
Ceasar121:
Bleh. Only liked one titanium (g1 Magnus) and he's rather lackluster. Happy for titanium fans, but couldn't they have cut this type of crap in favor of more budget for animated, or bringing back something hot like new Alternators? I mean sheesh at least new plastic titaniums?

Maybe they wanted something to put into the Universe line that was different to what other stores were doing.
I'm assuming you mean new Alternators molds which wouldn't have happened for a store exclusive - those things take time to make and Hasbro/Takara are probably busy on making new movie toys. And I doubt they would have repainted Alternators anyway, those things are on a license with the car companies which would probably have ended by now.
I also heard that plastic Titaniums couldn't be done because of the way they're constructed or something.
Autobotic9:
Dammit Hasbro!! Stop making all this awesome stuff. I only wanted a few more Universe figures, then I want your G1 Shockwave repaint, the new Animated guys, and now these. I want to save up for ROTF!! LOL
Gingerchris:
A fresh lick of paint can't magically fix poor design and QC issues. Unless they have actually developed magical paint now. In which case they should try using it on some of the iffy quality TF stuff I purchased last year.
Actually, for fixing crappy ball joints nail polish would appear to be the magical paint. Grimwing:
Best News I've heard in a while.
Very surpriseing to most in this thread. That the titaniums are back makes me happy. Titaniums are addictive figures. I only have nine of the titanium 6 inch figures. But I some of the rarer ones like skywarp and the fallen in that.
Hot zone and thrust I will definitely pick up. I'll be on the fence for movie war within prime until I see it in person.
Target exclusivity is a snap. I can not praise the stores general friendlyness to geeky collectors with dcpi codes enough.

They're not horrible repaints...but I kinda want flames on WW Movie Prime. Is that wrong?
Blitz.:
I cant wait to see these things on store shelves and to see people rushing out to get them only to realise yet again their QC will be ass. Dont get me wrong its cool their not giving up on the more collector aimed crap but we all know the deal with Ti toys by now

They're not the same thing.

They're not the same thing. | THANK you. That's exactly what these products are, and they can't be held to the same standards you expect for mainline kid's toys. I've been saying it since we first saw the Jetfire and Thundercracker wave.
aey103:
Kinda cool news. Hasbro maybe will give us all the seekers in the Titanium line now. Along with Thrust, Hot Spot/Zone I most likely will pick up as well but I think I will be passing on the WWI Prime repaint since I have the original and Ultra Magnus version already.
Hybrid Prime: WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!YEAH!!!
I'm glad to see this line come back.I won't be getting the Prime but will defanatly get Hot zone since I never got the RID Prime it looks good as a Hotspot though and will have to get Thrust just cause he is a seeker! For once I can say THANKS HASBRO!!! NOW lets see the new molds Arcee,Cosmos,Bludgeon, and all the others you crushed our hopes with! Fit For natalie:
You know, I bet if Hasbro had made those unreleased Titanium figures, right now we'd be complaining about how much they sucked. We just want things we can't have.

I mean sheesh at least new plastic titaniums? | Have you not noticed that they are redecos, ie, toys whose original development cost have already been paid for? That's why most store exclusives are redecos - Hasbro tends to save new molds for mass release. The shop wanted some sort of exclusive item, so Hasbro dug around for molds they hadn't redecoed yet, and viola.
Like it was pointed out back in Universe (but apparently nobody bothered to listen, remember or use logic to come to the same conclusion) - repaints don't somehow magically steal the considerable amounts of time and money needed to develop an entirely new toy. They either make the new toy or they don't, and they would have needed to plan out making a new toy at least a year in advance of it being released.

Nightrain:
I have never complained about a Titanium. For one thing, they are actually PAINTED(zomg!), and another thing, they are made out of a material that's actually marginally valuable.

I rarely complain about TFs, because even when it seems like I won't like one of the figures, I know there's a chance I'll end up buying it.
Scratch that ... I have complained about a figure in the past, but just because I got it and disappointed the hell out of me: Retrax!

Grimlock_13:
I'll definitely get Thrust and maybe Hot Spot.
Icespark:
Hotspot is a must-own for me! I love the fact that Hasbro is using a canceled Botcon design as the basis for him! I think that it's pretty nice of them. Hopefully, maybe later on down the road, they can make some of the other canceled designs. For now though, I'll be looking forward to this figure!

Are you planning to melt your toys down to sell for raw materials if times get tough?

Although you never know...
Sage:
Being an Optimus Prime/Convoy fanatic (which means Hasbro usually treats me pretty well), this is EPIC WIN.
That being said, they still really need to release Cosmos.

Insane Galvatron:
They aren't actually made of Titanium.. They just call 'em that. It's just die-cast like any other metal toy.

I still want that Shockwave. Or at least a new one in Universe. I'm just not a fan of the Animated one.

Can that ever happen? Or are there legal issues from the cancelled Con exclusive?
Deathx360:
I'm just happy my Universe display will have Hot Spot and Thrust sometime soon, if these aren't hard to find that is. Maybe they will make a Dirge at one point since the Universe version is a lot bigger than the others being the Cybertron Voyager Starscream mold. Both the War Within Seeker and R.I.D. Optimus Prime molds are good so I can live with them. I will be skipping the Optimus Prime since I have two of that mold already.

At the next botcon Hasbro will show a few teasing pics.

Although you never know... | But won't the plastic components that hold all the metal parts together have crumbled away by then? Then all you have left is a bunch of antique robot limbs.

They'd be better off starting from scratch in the classics line, which has much better sculpts. I think allot of the titanium stuff has a kind of gummy not crisp sculptwork compared to classics. IIRC a different team had been working on the titanium stuff, they were some people from playmates and the tit line was there first stab at TF's.
If these had been released i woulda been all over them, but it aint gonna happen. Classics is the way to go | I would buy a classics version of her but that still isnt G1 .. I want a G1 Arcee and not something updated or close to it. That Titanium was the only chance we had for her.. Dunno why Hasblow has a problem with making her in every other form but G1 , They suck .. Can only take so many repaints. You would think it would dawn on them that they may sell better if they offered new molds and not the same crap painted a different color.
lars573:
Her animation model can't exist in the real world. Her bot mode is too lean and her car mode too bulky.
Fosterlager:
I have no need for that Shockwave, at least. He's too small.
Rodr-Evil:
Who in the hell is Hotzone? anyway I'll buy HOTSPOT.

I'd buy a Fortress Maximus 6" Titanium if they ever did one. Its just a representation, not indicative of the character's actual size.

I bought a 6" Fort Max KO. It's also too small.

I am digging the RiD prime repaint. And I so CANNOT wait for thrust. Awesome find.

Originally Posted by Omega Supreme-1 Bigger is better huh? Looks like someone has inadequacy issues | It depends on the character. Leader characters like Shockwave and Fort Max should be taller than your average deluxe. With Arcee and Cosmos, it doesn't matter much to me.
As to the inadequacy, neither of my wives had any complaints.
Insane Galvatron:
Shockwave was only about the size of Megatron in the cartoon. This one would be about the right size next to Classics Megatron. Even though Megs is a Voyager, most of it is the wings on his back.

If we ever see a Shocky in Universe, I'd love if he was around that same size.
