Titanium Series to Return - 6 Inch Series Exclusive to Target

Titanium Series to Return - 6 Inch Series Exclusive to Target 1
Oh snap!

It looks like the 6 inch series of Titanium figures are making a come-back for the 25th Anniversary of the Transformers. Thanks to ACToys and S250, we see images for what appears to be Titanium Hot Zone, a repaint of Titanium War Within Optimus Prime, and a repaint of Starscream in to Titanium Thrust.

No idea when their release date is, but they appear to be Target exclusives.

Close your eyes tight and wish really really hard. Apparently anything's possible right now, which can only be a good thing!
RayH:
I wouldn't say that it only seems possible in the realm of repaints of existing tooled figures. The unproduced stuff never made it to the tooling phase.
SarahMobius:
I don't know how I feel about this. I like my titanium Grimlock. Rodimus is tolerable. But the line always seemed kind of floppy.
Hollywood Hoist:
I'm totally down for Thrust. The others not so much. Here's hoping they finish the seekers with Dirge and Ramjet.
Primus_feather:
Hopefully with these we'll see some figures that some of us could never get, like WW Grimlock around the same time as MP Grim, and WW Prowl as Jazz? And maybe MAYBE we might see Cosmos, Arcee and Shockwave, especially if Arcee sells well in the movie line.

It didn't? Awwww bummer, ah well, repaints ahoy then!
unicronsupreme:
wtf? no Soundblaster?
Nerroth:
Hot Spot looks ace, even though the new name isn't all that great.

I would not be surprised if they snuck a 'hot spot' reference into the bio, however.
PyroniusRex:
Not going to fit in with my collection but who cares!
dark69:
cool but i would like it better is it was Arcee and Cosmos

I wish ACToys would fix whatever malware or virus problem they have, because every time somebody links their forums, it gets front paged on TF sites, and people visiting the TF sites will click it and then (assuming their antivirus and anti-spyware aren't up to date) become infected or something.

Though I'm pleased to see that TFW2005 acknowledges this issue and doesn't post the ACToys link on their front page.

I don't believe the ones seen at BotCon 2007's Hasbro tour ever had any molds.

Yay! Somebody remembered!
keebs:
Sweet. I'm glad I didn't sell the ones I have.
flamingunicron:
wait if they bring back titanium will they bring back alts?!! PLEASE HASBRO
megatronkicksas:
hot spot = bought.
keebs:
Here's hoping for Soundblaster; probably as a Comic Con exclusive

Not really bringing back Titaniums, though. These are just exclusives.
smkspy:
Too bad Primal Prime isn't among these. Ah well, I'll probably get them anyways.
Kickback:
We're not getting those "unreleased" figures because the actual casting molds were never made. They were sculpted and so forth, but they were never actually "pressed" if that makes any sense, so there's no physical piece of metal to mold the figures.

Hasbro always said that the Titanium figures were most costly than profitable. Titanium truly is a "collector" line in a sense.

War Within Prowl and War Within Grimlock actually did have their figures molded and a small production run was done (hence why we saw them on eBay, and in package at the offices of Hasbro ), and then TRU struck a deal to produce whatever run they ended up producing.

Yeah, until that issue is resolved, I'll have no problem throwing up the credit and the source, but I'm not going to link to that place. My PC is up-to-date on everything and blocks 99.9% of any attempt of malware, etc., so I just throw up all the pictures in the news story.
Star Sabre James:
I'm very happy to be seeing the Titanium line being continued. I'm also hoping for a Soundblaster release. It was hinted at on the packaging of some of the other 6in Titanium boxes.

This was only made more frustrating by virtue of the fact that this was the only line that gave us the likes of a "proper" Magnus, a decent Rodimus Prime, G1 Scourge, G1 Soundwave, and War Within designs - all of which could and should have been far, far better than they turned out.

I'd actually like the "Titanium" line resurrected, but with new moulds, in plastic, full articulation, accessories, and the "Titanium" part can be down to having decent metallic paint finishes. A focus on particular interpretations of popular characters (for example, the War Within stuff, G1 "revisits" that aren't quite Universe-style updates, as attempted before) would also give the line some reason for existing.

The big question of course, is would they sell. They'd no doubt need to be fan-targeted by necessity, and most likely would be relatively expensive (tho perhaps more stylish, but less pointlessly vast and cumbersome packaging could help shave a few pennies off overall). Maybe they'd need to be online availability only; not HTS or convention exclusives, something a little more well distributed; but without the need to go to bricks-and-mortar stores, a semi-regular, focussed line might be viable. Dunno..

(Stops rambling)
No, by all means rant. I wholeheartedly agree. The line was rubbish to the extent that I only own 1 figure from the line. Soundwave who I have a personal soft spot for.
But I did think Ultra Magnus, Rodimus and Scourge where brilliant looking if not badly designed joint and weight wise but nonetheless figures I keep a constant look out for.

I still think it would be nice to see some new moulds but as you say with better designed technique.
ErechOveraker:
Clearance shelf, here they come.
mikeyfuzz:
i love you Target, We always need more Titaniums
Railguard:
I hope they bring back Jetfire and Soundwave.

I dunno, Ti Grimlock and Prowl flew off the shelves here, but those were of course new molds so time will tell I guess.
shibamura_prime:
Hot Spot?! HOT DAMN!!!
Bogatan:
So thats why FP couldnt do the original RID Defensor. I would have been more excited by the Spychanger version to be honest. Or if they had spent the money on bringing the remaining unreleased titaniums to the market.
Thundershot:
I'm going to echo what others have said.... Hasbro really needs to get Hot Spot/Zone out into the wild. FP wants to do it, but can't for whatever reason... So now it's in Hasbro's hands. Why not a nice Universe 25th anniversary figure giving us a nice Classics Hot Spot leader sized figure that becomes Defensor?

Chris
Ravenxl7:
This is AWESOME news. Hot Spot/Zone will most definitely be mine, along with Thrust (who will most likely be displayed with my Classics Decepticons). Might also get that Optimus Prime. May just be me, but it almost looks like he could have some retooling, though it's probably just a slight repaint from the original. I may get him too. Would be kinda cool to see the Leader RID Prime mold be repainted/retooled into Hot Spot/Zone when Universe comes back after it's hiatus. It's something I could honestly see Hasbro doing, but it isn't something I'm going to hold my breath for, or put too much hope into. Here's hoping they also give us a Dirge to go along with Thrust, or they actually do release the molds they helped Takara come up with.
whitejazz:
The Hot Spot repaint is good news, as he is one underused character, however what I really want is for that titanium Shockwave to be released.
Synical:
I hate subpar product like this staying on the shelves, giving Transformers a bad name. It's obvious that they put the engineering of these things in the hands of someone who had never worked with die-cast before. There are very few good molds to justify the continued existence of this line. Make them in plastic, release the unreleased molds, and then we'll talk. As it is, I have yet to hold a titanium that wasn't an immediate disappointment...

Alright, the seeker mold wasn't too bad, but man, that's the only one.

Only seekers I got were Thundercracker (go figure on that!) and Sunstorm....yeah they're not bad but the paint applications on any of these titaniums suck.
If they were to re-release I'd hope they'd of made improvements on the sculpts but it's more than likely not going to happen.
RayH:
On the unreleased molds, i don't think it really matters any more. I know the figures were cool, and would have been great to get in the Tit line. But they may as well just fold them into classics, and just remake them as well, they can proabably design them much better than what they were originally going to do.
Ktulu:
WHY WON'T YOU DIE

Would've much rather had them repaint the reeaaaal RiD Prime into Hot Spot, but oh well. A Titanium version is ...better than nothing. Slightly.
Optimus747:
Hot Zone (SPOT) will be mine!
My broken-down Hot Spot was a favorite toy of mine back in the day, and I liked the Botcon prototype repaint of RID Prime but considering how rare/unaffordable that one is, this is definitely a cool toy. Plus, Titanium RID Prime is one of the better Titaniums.

Pass on the other two; already have WW Prime and Thrust doesn't interest me. Cool that they're doing this, though.
Draven:
Pass, pass, and pass. In that order.
red00wolf:
I for one welcome our titanium overlords.

Terrorcon Blot:
Prime: Wonderful colors, terrible mold, people will buy it just because it's Optimus. I will skip.

Thrust: Mediocre mold, decent colors. I hate the design though, so skipping since I already have Thundercracker.

Hot Spot: Great Titanium mold that I missed the first time, wonderful colors, good homage. Will buy.
PrimulArchangel:
Scew the repaints , if they are going to continue the line then released G1 Arcee and Cosmos !!! those i would buy in a heart beat
Terrorcon Blot:
Cosmos got his Legends toy, and that Arcee was horrible. Why would you want her?
Human Beastbox:
Yeah!! Heavy crappy toys are back!
Kouri:
What confirmation do we have that a Thrust is even on the way? Prowl and Grimlock advertised Soundblaster and Primal Prime, but we never saw those guys. >.> For all we know, Thrust is just a digibash stuck onto pre-made boxart.

HaHAHa Agreed.
No pose-ability.. check.
substandard quality.. check.
yup. release 'em.
Autobot Burnout:
Ooooh! The return of the Titaniums! I've heard good things about the RID Prime mold, stuff along the lines of "one of the few good titaniums", so I'll def. be picking up Hot Zone/Spot. Thrust looks good too, leaving the only one I'm not getting being Movie deco WWI prime as I hear he sucks. Unless reviews are favorable this time round

I want them to re-issue "The Fallen", though, since he's also one of the few good Titaniums and, well, his name makes up 1/3 of the new movie's name (Trans-Formers, Revenge of The Fallen). That, and he's always on fire, which is awesome.
butheadimus prime:
So instead of:

classics BB as hubcap or glyph
classics SS as Sunstorm, purple stuff
imported repaints of dirge and thrust
classics hound as swindle
classics sideswipe as red alert

we get metalic turds with terrible paint that flakes off before you have opened the package. 0 articulation. simplistic playschool formers transformations. As well as terribly scaled figures. Oh did I mention these will shelfwarm even if they get better distribution than the tail end of universe 2.0.

Universe 2.0, granted it was a legend...

Still, Cosmos, Shockwave, Arcee. Nao plz!!!
