TFW2005 Site sponsor, Bigbadtoystore, has sent us an update letting us know that their exclusive Transformers Prime Dark Energon figures are up for preorder. These figures are not available for individual preorders. The four deluxes will be sold as a set and the two voyagers will be sold as a set.

This BBTS Exclusive Set will include the following figures, as well as a bonus DVD:

Deluxe
Defender Wheeljack
Knockout
Starscream
Defender Bumblebee

Voyager
Optimus Prime
Megatron

Each of these translucent figures is the result of exposure to Dark Energon, which twists the mind and powers the body, eventually corrupting and destroying the user. With the Decepticons trying to use the Dark Energon to take over earth, Optimus Prime and the other Autobots are forced to expose themselves to it, so that they are able to take on the Decepticons on their own terms. Will they be able to defeat Megatron and his crew in time for Ratchet to reverse the process, flush the Dark Energon from their systems and save them from a horrid fate?

– Translucent figures show the effects of Dark Energon infusion
– Unique paint schemes of fan-favorite characters
– Autobots and Decepticons have taken on new faction logos: Autobot Dark Energon Defenders and Dark Energon Decepticons

Grimlockimus
Only one I can see myself buying is the DE Megatron, the others are nice redecos, but the Megatron is above them all.

I am getting them all but will probably only open Megatron.
orangeitis
YES YES YES. This pleases the Orangey.
Kylehudson14
WHAT, no reg FE Cliffjumper?
Reaper Cloud
Maybe I'm missing the reference, but why is there a 2002 on the back trunk part for Cliffjumper? If it's because he was a 2012 SDCC exclusive...shouldn't it be 2012?
Shadowbreaker
Still no prices eh? Oh well... I guess this is good since the PRID Revision case got pushed back (AGAIN) to Mid-September so maybe I'll have to add these to the Prime POL
Avengers
will it be available on tru.com on september 1st. or will these be arriving at TRU stores starting on september 1st.

I'm probably going to buy FE Bulkhead. Since I don't have the Rid version yet.

Still debating if I want to buy the FE Vechicon or not.

The September 1st is NOT the date for the First Edition toys. That date is for when BBTS puts up preorders for the Dark Energon exclusives.
Roufuss
Damn, the more exciting news is that BBTS is also going to carry the FE toys.

Suck it, TRU.

Assuming they don't price them at $35 for a deluxe and $50 for a voyager.

Either way, I'll take my chances with TRU.
lildevilchick
I like Megs and Optimus (though I'm not a huge fan of Ops mold). I think I may pick up Megatron, depending on what the price is and how soon it'll be released. I don't have the funds for anything this next month...

Same here. If BBTS is the same price as TRU, then it will be MUCH easier just to order them through BBTS. Hell, the TRU site (as well as my local store) STILL does not have the second wave of Voyager Prime (Bulkhead/Starscream) figures. -_-

I'm hoping that the pricing will be:

Deluxe- $20
Voyager- $30

That is still about 4-5 dollars higher than regular Prime Deluxes, and around 7-8 dollars more than regular Prime Voyagers.

As for the "Special" figures exclusive to BBTS...Your prices will probably be right on for those.
Arashistorm
Dark Energon Optimus has the maskless face, right? If so, I might crack and get one!
Dinobot Nuva
Only want Knock Out so not too worried, but still, TO BATTLE.
shamanking282
Can't wait for Slice-ehhhWheeljack!
Risko_Vinsheen
Will order a full set of the Dark Energon Deluxes but otherwise not all that interested. May get Megatron too but that totally depends on price. The Deluxes are the only ones that really catch my interest.
Zornimus Prime
So whats the difference between the First Edition and RID figs?

And do we have any idea when the Dark Energon figs will be released? I can't decide if I want to get any of them and my interest in them is dwindling the longer BBTS puts off their release.

They're two completely different lines with completely different moulds for every character.

I really want the deluxes to repurpose. Wheeljack as Slicer and Knockout as Wasp. If the price is right I'll get Bumblebee for Goldbug too. I already have AM Skywarp. They should have gone with blue for SS and they'd get more sales...

Even better than blue, I think they should have gone with a Sunstorm deco. It seems likely that there might be a mainline Thundercracker at some point (either from Hasbro or Takara), and the transparency would have suited Sunstorm's irradiated, power-infused characterization.

Anyhow, aside from that missed opportunity, I'm looking forward to these guys. I think I'll also have to pick up a Takara Terrorcon Cliffjumper to go with them, as well.

Regarding repurposing, I'm thinking of repurposing the figures not so much as separate characters, but as kind of "Mr. Hyde-esque" alter-egos. If Dark Energon corrupts a Transformer and brings out his/her bad qualities, I'm thinking Wheeljack, when so corrupted, becomes the violent and unstable "Slicer" persona. And cuddly Bumblebee, when corrupted, becomes the arrogant, pompous "Goldbug." Since there's already a Prime Skywarp, and the Knockout/Megatron/Optimus color schemes don't evoke any character in particular to me, I probably won't think of them having actual named alter-egos in the same way... just Slicer and Goldbug.
Starfire22
I really like that wheeljack figure, the rest are an easy pass.
LamboTwinLove
I'm getting Knockout and Starscream. Screamer looks like Warp teleporting or something and even though I already have Skywarp and I am so getting this one!

Now I just need them to do a Thundercracker and maybe even a Sunstorm!
Lbsammills51
Depending on release date ETA, the only one I know I'll preorder immediately is Slicer/Wheeljack. The others I do intend to pick up as well, but they're lower priority at the moment.
Thundershot
Watch them only be available as sets of 4 deluxes or 2 voyagers... Which will be infinitely better than case ratios of 1x Wheeljack, 1x Knockout, 2x Starscream, 4x Bumblebee. Surely BBTS wouldn't let Hasbro do that.... Hopefully 2 of each per case.
BlueAngel_Bolt
I want them all, hopefully full cases go up of one each.
axiom
They updated the site-

BBTS EXCLUSIVE - TRANSFORMERS PRIME DARK ENERGON!

Preorders Open at 12:00 Midnight Eastern Time Friday Night 9/1 - pricing will be announced at that time.

I really, really don't want this to be the case, but I can't imagine BBTS wants to sit on any more deluxe Bumblebees than they already are, even if its an exclusive version.

Ever since these were announced its been my fear that they'll only be able to be ordered by full assortment. Or, if they are available individually, that Prime and BB will be reasonably priced and everything else will be super expensive.
Reaper Cloud
From what I've gathered...two of the deluxe figures are being skipped in the FE line:

Bumblebee
Cliffjumper (regular)

So no one has to worry about seeing the yellow plague in stores...online or otherwise. lol
Transbot90210
I noticed Hasbro got smart with the FE line and dropped BB. The better news is that Zombiejumper and Vehicon are a coming.

That Dark energon line, cool enough but not my cup of tea.
Duomaxwell1017
Just saw from BBTS that the pre ordered for the Dark Energon exclusives will go live at 12am EST on Sept 1st http://http://www.bigbadtoystore.com...spx?content=62
Lumpy
I'm really curious how much these will be. I'm slightly tempted by Wheeljack and Knockout, their color schemes look really cool. definitely want Starscream, he looks fantastic, and I kinda want that Megatron too, he looks better than the retail version, just not sure i like that toy enough to buy a more expensive version.
megatroptimus
So only Optimus is remolded, right?
TacomaPrime
Man, I really like the optimus prime.
Kung Fu Man
Really hoping these prices are good myself, Slicer's a must but Knock-Out will depend entirely on the cost.
Grimlockimus
Definately looking to pick up a Wheeljack/Slicer, and the Optimus doesn't look half bad either.

Bumblebee and Knockout are passes for me though
atomicthumbs
Got em preordered! Gotta have optimus, but Wheeljack is kinda growing on me.
Kung Fu Man
Looks like the preorders are only for a set: either you can get deluxes for $60, or Voyagers for $50. I'll be selling off Bumblebee and Starscream for about $20 each to help cover the shipping methinks.
GrimlockAutobot
They're very reasonably priced.

$60 for a set of 4 deluxes and $50 for a set of two voyagers.

I was pleasantly surprised.
Scantron
Pre-ordered the Deluxe set; ~$15 each is reasonable. Didn't entirely want BB, but was interested in the other three and he can be repurposed as Goldbug, so it's not a big loss. Prime and Megatron look decent, but don't need/want other versions of those two figures.

Yep, I got them ordered just now too, $60 for the 4 deluxes and $50 for the Voyagers, nowhere near as bad as I was dreading!

For reference

Number of Deluxe Sets: 1334
Number of Voyager Sets: 1337

@ 12:05am EST

Prices aren't too bad @ $60 for the four deluxes and $50 for two voyagers considering these are "exclusives"

Yeah, there was close to 1600 of each at 12:01 so they seem to be selling quickly.

Edit: 1258 of each at 12:10
Deceptigtar
nice exclusives, good prices, ordered!
ssjkazer
dont forget they have the prime and jazz 2 pack there
Kung Fu Man
The one kicker is hoping we can unload the ones each of us don't want, as there's probably going to be a flood of Bumblebees on eBay once these ship...
