just finished the basement ep3 the other day, that was a good listen. I always enjoy listening to the idw talk. I've tried reading the comics (the ones that come with the deluxes) and I never get the full story out of it. but I love reading the synopsis on tfwiki on each episode and listening to talk on it. VANGELUS you need to do a monthly vlog on idw reviews. it would be awesome.

Still shifting for ep2

I was also on the first Mikey's Comic Basement, though I forget what we talked about and when it went up
(because I'm an excellent friend)
ericepy
are you only on ep3, or are you on others too?
Vangelus
Probably in there somewhere. Ep3 is the one I was on recently.

Ok that's episode 3. Where are the other 2? I check back 10 pages and their not there.

The water goes the other way, Vegas is higher on the Colorado river basin than where Los Angeles pulls from. And from what I've seen, Vegas is getting better at water usage, but it is still a drop in the bucket (har har) in comparison to the waste that happens agriculturally.

Are you serious???
"Hey kids! Don't play on that nasty green stuff with their tiny mineral grains! You want to run round on this patch of brown dirt! Yeah, fall on this and don't be cushioned by grass, tear your skin on dirt! Brown!!! Once you go brown, you'll have to hobble back!"
I mean it's a good move, but they have to market it as the cool thing to do?
Your world is foreign to me
Probably the reason California's in trouble. Vegas has some of the largest amounts of water waste in the world from the lawns to the displays. Towns, fields and such miles away suffer massive shortages as water is pumped from there to Vegas. It may be effing insane in the long term, in the short lotsa money in the pocket.
Aaron
What wows me is that Vegas still has so many green yards. It's naturally a friggin desert. Go brown there because that's the color it should be. Lush green watered every other day is a pure waste.
Vangelus
It is this: The Underbase Podcast : The Underbase Discussion Series : Comic Basement #3
Seth Buzzard
Instead Californians are being sold a catch phrase; "brown is the new green" and that it's cool to have a brown yard.
Now that's all good, a green yard is a luxury but it's not going to fix anything long term.
Aaron
Desalinization is an expensive energy intensive process. It costs 5 to 10 times the amount of traditional water sources, though that's down from the 100 fold cost it was around 2000. I know that at one point in time Las Vegas was looking at paying for a desalinization plant for Los Angeles to pay for a portion of the water that gets sent to there. The better place to try and conserve that water still lies with the farmers and revising the antiquated system of water rights where it is a use it or lose it system that doesn't reward conservation.

About the Botcon reveal vids: apparently surprise egg reveal videos are a thing on youtube, completely unrelated to Easter. They're usually covered in sculpted playdough. I dunno, I'm just presenting the facts. I think this is a bizarre attempt to draw in a child audience…? Maybe?
Seth Buzzard
I have to say I had a leg up when I went to my first Botcon because i was already a mod from doing Them Funny Robots so I had in an in with a lot of people even though I hadn't met any of them in person yet.
That being said, every con I have ever been to there has been at lest one person that was in no way part of the group before that became part of the group during.

As for the listener question I had tons of anxiety going to my first tfcon in 2013 but just sitting down in the lobby on Friday afternoon with other fans playing with vangelus' constructbots blitzwing was the easiest in the world. It's super easy to just bring up a current figure like Seth said.

A someone who is also going to be attending my first convention at TFcon this year, I appreciated the listener question.
I'm a bit of an introvert, and also a relative newcomer to Canada from New Zealand (4 years, but still…)
I haven't had much opportunity to make friends (online or otherwise), so I won't know anyone there. I have heard the legendary tales of TacBac and the Karaoke, so I'm up for giving this socialising thing a go.
I'm going to be staying from the Thursday to the Monday, so I hope to get a chance to say 'hi' to all the good people at TFW

What the podcast vangelus said he on talk about the idw comics because that sounded interesting
Vangelus
Being reminded of their Hellboy stuff makes One:12 and Mortal Kombat make a lot more sense to me. I feel like their nerd hummel phase must've been some kind of resource-building stopgap.
Gojira Prime
Mezco actually did a lot of good stuff with Hellboy back when they had the license. I only ever got the Movie trenchcoat Hellboy, but that figure has held up really well and I still wish I could find the comic version for a good price.
Between everything I'm hearing about this Batman and the hype around their Mortal Kombat stuff, there seems to be a return to form for them, which I'm really happy about. I lusted over all their Hellboy stuff back in the day and to see them lapse into the stuff they did with Breaking Bad, Axe Cop, etc. was disappointing.
