Currently working on the upcoming third Transformers movie, Mark Ryan recently took some time to answer questions for TFW2005. Mark Ryan is best known as the voices of Bumblebee and Jetfire in the 2007 and 2009 Transformers movies, but was also active as an on-set voice for many of the CGI characters during filming. In our interview, Mr. Ryan talks about his work on the Transformers franchise, his comic series with IDW, and more!

Jetfire ROTF rocked!

Actually it includes much more if either of you knew about his work outside of just the movies and realized he also voiced Bumblebee in the Transformers Beginnings DVD, and in both video games.
Either way this was a good read, definitely looking forward to chilling with Mark at TFcon. Such a good guy.

Actually, it's 11 words.
BB Shockwave
You know, I think I figured it out why B(umble)B(ee) is mute in the movies. When the scriptwriters did their research, they have always saw Bumblebee referenced on forums as BB. So, they mistook him for the real BB, you know, the G2 Dreadwing repaint in Beast Wars 2, the guy who can only say "Roger"? They decided then to give this no-words treatment to Bumblebee as an ultimate fan nod. And us, complaining fans did not appreciate this very subtle nod… [/sarcasm]

Love his Jetfire performance. I honestly prefer 'Bee not talking at all to the voice Ryan gave him, though. Every interview and video I see with him makes him out to be quite a cool guy. Good stuff.

He'll always be Nasir to me. Maybe they can create a dual sword-wielding Transformer for him
SoundFire Prime
^ This. Though it pains me to say this, ROTF was pretty much a joke, but I found Mark Ryan as Jetfire to be the film's one redeeming quality…well, that and more screentime and dialogue for Starscream…and Frank Welker reprising Soundwave.
I so wish Jetfire would be in TF3, but alas, it seems very unlikely that he will. Oh well…

Nothing against Mr. Ryan, I wouldn't exactly call him the "voice" of movie Bumblebee. Bumblebee's said, what, 8 words in two movies?

Mark's got quite a body of work under his belt. Movies, theater, comic books. Pretty interesting read.
"The Pilgrim" sounds intersting, too. Might have to check that out.
I agree with him about that bits that ended up getting cut from the Sam and Bee scene in ROTF. That really should have been left in.
I also liked the description of Jetfire:

Several new robots – awesome. Hope Ryan's able to voice more besides potentially Bumblebee!
I wish Bay had more mercy for dead characters besides Prime and Megatron. Wish Jetfire could come back. Ryan was brilliant as him.
