TFW2005 and Razer Present - The TFW2005 Video Game Photoshop Contest

Posted on 08-09-2011 at 10:10 AM by Joe Moore under Site Updates
TFW-NES
TFW2005 has teamed up with Razer for and an awesome contest where you could win some amazing Transformers PC Gaming prizes! We will be giving away a selection of Razer's Dark of the Moon DeathAdder Ergonomic Gaming Mice and their Dark of the Moon Vespula Dual-Sided Gaming Mouse Mats. Don't know what we're taking about? Well check out Razer's Transformers: Dark of the Moon Collector's Edition Gaming Peripherals.

Contest
Create, draw or photoshop an image showing TFW2005 as a video game from any gaming era. You can alter photos, video game screen shots, create faux box art or create an image from scratch. Do you picture TFW2005 as an old school side scroller like Super Mario, or do you picture it as a fighting game? How about an Atari 2600 era game? It's your choice. The only criteria is that your submission must be clearly related to video games and be clearly related to TFW2005. That's it.

Now remember, TFW2005 is a TRANSFORMERS website, so incorporating something Transformers related (like our very own mascot, BOOMBOX) into the image will likely earn you some extra consideration.

UPDATE:
You cannot use other people's fan art. You cannot steal art from other members and claim it as your own. If you are entering artwork, then you must be the artist.

FAQ

Will update ad needed.

Q. May I share my entry outide of this thread?
A. Yes.

Q. May I post a WIP thread on the forums?
A. Yes

Q. Can I collaborate with another member for my entry?
A. No.

Q. Do I get to choose the prize sent to me?
A. No. Prizes are chosen at random.

Q. Can my entry consist of more than 1 image?
A. Yes, if you want to do, say, a front and back of a faux box, or multiple faux screen shots. That is fine, but it will only count as one entry.

Q. I posted my entry, but I want to make changes or add to it, can I?
A. No. Once you submit something here, that is the final entry. So make it count.

Q. What type of image can I submit?
A. 2D art, computer generated images, 3D art, photoshopped photos, photoshopped video game screen shots, etc.

Q. Can staff members (mods, content contributors, photos staff, etc.) enter?
A. No

Q. I don't live in the U.S. Can I still enter?
A. Yes.

Q. Can I enter an animated image or a video?
A. Yes.

Q. Who's judging the entries?
A. Upper level staff of TFW2005.

Q. Hey, I found some awesome fan art, can I just use that?
A. NO! If you want to use fan art, it must be your own.

Q. Can I use officially released Transformers art?
A. Yes, so long as you aren't simply slapping that one a box or something and expecting that to be your entry. It's a photoshopping contest, so go to town.

Q. Does it have to be an 8-Bit or 16-Bit era style game?
A. No. Any gaming era is allowed.

Q. Can I use someone else's custom figure for my photoshop or entry?
A. No

Q. Can I use your Boombox art from the gallery?
A. EDIT: After further review, yes, you can use the Boombox art from the gallery, just not from the Boombox comic book.

To get that inspiration flowing, here's our site owner, Tony B, as a Mega Man sprite.

You cannot use this in your entry.

This is not where entries go. Please read the contest details.

Also, you have a full month to work on this. Take your time and really think about what you want to do and take the time to make it look as good as possible.

If you want to, and can, make an animated image or video, then please go for it.

In the spirit of the contest, I have updated my avatar to something more appropriate.

As cool as this is, I'm gonna be passing since I really wouldn't know where to stick this TF stuff.

I currently have the new Razer TRON keyboard and mouse set and am using that.

Good luck to all who partake.
Torque

Torque
you say we can't use Fanart-can we use official stuff? like the logo for TFW, or a picture of Bumblebee?
Brainchild
Do contestants have to be of a certain age to be eligible?

If you're old enough to be posting here, you should be ok.

Art officially released art is mostly ok. Please don't just put a piece of official art on a 360 box though. Creativity is the name of the game.

No worries, I'm doing screenshots =]
Obliterator999
Um, I'm not quite clear on the use of images or trademarks. Can I use gaming platform names, logos and stuff, or altered versions of them?
Crazy Ninjaman
Is it ok if we use boombox's tech spec picture?
Superquad7
I wish everyone entering all of the very best and that you come up with some super-creative entries!

Yes. The only thing, really, off limits is fan art. That means that two people worked on it, and likely two people from this forum.
Joe Moore
Updated the FAQ.

Remember, this is a Photoshopping contest. The creative use of photoshopping (or any other image editing software) or simply being creative is key here.

So photoshopping is key here? jw cause it said we could draw too/instead in the opening statement (or i thought it did)

If you draw something that is fine and perfectly acceptable. I am just trying to deter people from copy and pasting an fan art or , say, an Optimus image onto a game box and saying "here's my entry".

Updated the statement. Creativity is the most important key here. I have seen what the members here can do with photoshopping of official images and their own art, and my expectations may be needlessly high.
Torque
Well I've got something creative for sure! just hope my MSPaint skills are good enough to meet that high standard lol
Torque
worked on it all last night and again all day today-submitted my entry! ^_^
karekature
just submitted my entry...hope this one counts? do i?
