One of the grand highlights of Auto Assembly 2010 – second only to some crazy, crazy fun with my fellow board members (Bumblebee in a bath towel – don’t ask) – was the incredible display put out by the Mapes Twins. You might remember their exhibition last year, when they brought out their world-renowned Lucky Draw Transformers collection for all Auto Assembly attendees to see. This year, they gave us a similarly awesome display – showing off the breadth of incredibly cool Transformers toys released during Takara’s run of Generation 1. There was a complete set of Transformers Victory toys on show, alongside many of the unique recolors and new molds released for Headmasters and Masterforce. Transformer Zone and Return of Convoy were also well represented, as were (in a break from the theme) many of the later Action Masters not released in the US. There was also an interesting look at the Transformers Juniors series, as well as several pre-Transformer Diaclone and Microman toys that did not make the cut for Transformers.
The crown jewel of the display though had to be all three Maximus robots displayed side by side – Fortress Maximus, Grand Maximus and Brave Maximus. Pictures cannot do justice to how awesome it was to see all three of these gigantic Transformers – the biggest and heaviest ones ever made – together in a single display in person.

The macau stamped versions of the euro AM's all have color variants and minor changes in sticker colors. Euro Overlord has 2 versions due to this as well.
I'm not sure which versions were sold in Japan at the time (in euro packaging mind you). The only ones I have double in that variant are the Motorvators who all have an extra sticker and some extra instructons along with minor plastic color and sticker variations.

Thanks for the pics!
Note to self: "Accompanying info cards to go with G1 figures on display"

We have a few ideas …
All of the figures had labels that we tend to make and bring with us to help people know what they are looking at. We didn't get to talk to Sol this year which was a shame.

Amazing display again, huge thanks to the Mapes for putting it on.
I've been wondering that also, pre-transformers?

Well that explains it….. I was Lucky mine was Minty fresh… for about 5 minutes untill I dressed the Big Fellow in his stickers….

When we bought Grand Max many moons ago and he shipped to us we found out that the previous owner had painted Cog as well as some details on the gun. They had also painted the eyes on the Brestmasters as well which is why they look different. Its a shame but since we don't plan on selling them anytime soon it kinda adds to some of them.

So, so awesome and beautiful.
Thanks again guys, for being so brave as to do it if nothing else!

That display was an absolute joy to behold. Thanks for all the work you put into it, TF@TM guys!

Kudo's to Sol for labelling everything. Makes it easier for a noob to identify everything.
Love the Whiteness on Fort Max.
Fort Max
Very cool display guys, more interesting then the bizarre and arbitrary gold repaints.

Who.why/what happened too Grand Maxi's Cog??

That is highly impressive, and I think you were quite brave to bring Black Zarak out. Oh GPS

^ You boys are so dedicated in making sure everything goes well enough.
If only we could see the same level of hardwork & dedication for our local toy scene.
No, it ain't happening…

Thank you all.
Action Masters – they were included as a request from Derrick Wyatt. Why were there two of certain toys … well Bombshell is a varient (light purple and dark purple). The only one known off. Kick-Off had two as I bought a second one from Kapow that day, complete, to replace out uncompelte one, and Tracks / Charger simply as we have two of them, so I thought 1 wasn't enough.
Oh, we have a third, MOSC Bombshell as well – just to show the Darker Purple is the regular one.
Black Zarak – yeah, he is broken in a few places (tail), sheld, Guardminders feet. I forgot about the tail till I transformed it.
Pre-Transformers – We wanted to show "the ones that didn't make it" – such as the Triple Changer, Magnum and Scopeman. It also filled up another shelf.
Everything there is original G1, no reissues or knock-offs (other than the 2 custom muggs) by Hamstar Customs.
It took hours to put up and breakdown – then Steve spent all day yesterday putting them back (whilst I was at work).
Next year .. if we do one .. we have a few ideas, though it will be hard to match the last two.

cool microchange stuff
The_Black_Sheep
Hot Diggety! So much awesome-ness right there but the one figure that stands out to me from the others would probably be that Diaclone Triplechanger. Now, If I could just reach through my monitor & take him…

Its TFs History Revisited. (Jap Style)

So jealous…. beautiful.
Omegatron
That Black Zarak is magnificent. Why would they risk exposing it to open air?
