Eeeeeeeeh......
prime326
Wow those are some out there designs. Interesting, but not sure how I really feel about them.
MattoMogwai
Megatron is horrible

Optimus isn't much better either.
rxlthunder
Should I laugh or be mad?
Feralstorm
Meh. I don't hate 'em, and they're obviously skillfully done, but they come off to me as what you get when you take anime-based designs from another source, and swap around some details and colors to look kinda transformer-y.
HIM666fan
the designs are cool but there just not cool... lol

right......
lol
shroobmaster
That Optimus is scarier than the god damn fallen.
Yggdrasil
Those two are uglier than all of the movie designs combined!
Paxtin
They've almost got kind of a ghetto street graffiti look going on. Especially Megatron.

I always love how people ambiguously use "Anime" to describe how certain art styles dont fit in with Transformers.
NFossil
Yeah. Never seen any anime like this.
Maybe even Lovecraftian - but TFs are stuff from depths of space that lived for many many years before humanity
col
Was this at someone's Artist Alley table? Do you know who the artist was? Ought to give credit where credit's due.
Deadsled
wtf? did Salvador Dali do these?
GMfan101
Trig-er-crooootttch!!!

XD
gothsaurus
these are really cool what-if takes on megs and prime... They scare me a little.... but Megatron's cod-piece scares me more.
MattoMogwai
Megatron, in my opinion, looks too much like this:

And not enough like this:

or any other Megatron for that matter.

Also, that trigger...

Optimus is a bit better, but as I said earlier, not a whole lot better.
col
I like 'em, personally. It's always great to see stylized re-imaginings of Transformers rather than rehashes of the same design over and over again. Wish I knew who the artist was! (hint, hint)
Splintershot
Hmmmm well....

Usually, I'm all for new TF incarnations, but these are.... so-so-ish...
Optimus could work... if they didn't make him look like he was punched in the guts. Megatron, however, needs to be redone altogether.
Fenix951
those are really unique as far as transformers looks are concerned. also what everyone sees as megatron's crotch i think is actually the hilt to a sword
xOGxPIMPIN
I just think it's funny how everyone just automatically starts hatin on everyones work. I personally think these are awesome looking. Everyone posting the comments that "these r horrible, or need to be redone", those people are mad because they are not the ones that came up with the designs. Quit hatin and realize that other people have talent, and just because you don't, doesn't give you the right to put it down like that.

I'm not saying don't give criticism, there's Nothing wrong with criticism in a constructive manner, but don't put everything down just because your not the one to come up with the design.

I think these look good, and I would like to see more from this artist

I'll ask around but I'm not sure who the artist is, nor if this was at an Artist Alley Table. I wasn't the one who shot the pics.
Blitz.
I wont question the quality its their in spades but the designs are just too out their to the point that really if prime were not red and blue I'd barley recognize him. Megatron is better in that regard and I dig the trigger crotch
Bringer
not every damn fan art of transformers has to look exactly what you expect, that their own creation
SPLIT LIP
Megatron looks ridiculous with the TITANIC trigger crotch and girl-like head. Optimus' design isn't bad per-se, 'cept maybe the goul-like mouth/faceplate and the super-sized legs, but WTF is with that pose?

The asthetics are awesome, however. Like McFarlane meets anime mecha.

I agree, prime doesn't work much for me, but that Megatron I have always loved. It's interesting to see someone take a spin on a classic design. That's why I think the trigger crotch works. It's taking something that you can't deny was there and playing with the idea till it looks new and deliberate.
Sinnertwin
I wish these were official. I really dig the aesthetic the artist here has. I'd love to see him or her do a Starscream or Soundwave.
Ribieconvoy
I like the Prime, but Megatron's HUGELY exaggerated crotch ruins it for me.
Creaky
See....

I could dig this if the designs were made less horrible. Megatron is pretty dire, and prime looks like he's melting (maybe his alt mode is a puddle?) but as an aesthetic I could see it working if portayed properly. A kind of horrific spiky, gribbly, very alien/supernatural, stylised Transformers might make a nice concept for a short comic series (sort of a TF: EVolutions continuity alongside Hearts of Steel). Particuarly if they noted the unsettling air of these images, and made it into something genuinely creepy. (Transformers as written by HP Lovecraft would be interesting to see...) But since this is fan art that's never going to happen.

I think the artist is talented in execution, but his designs (megs) and posing (prime) leave an awful lot to be desired.
Honorbound
I like the aesthetic a lot, but as everyone else has mentioned, the designs and posing need work. In my opinion, Optimus should have slimmer lower legs with fewer protrusions, and a bulkier torso, while his faceplate could stand a little changing. Megatron, on the other hand needs a head and pelvic region redesign, as well as a different alt. mode. The gun thing was ridiculous in G1, and it is ridiculous now. Also, both designs would really benefit from the early Movieverse's tendency towards weapons that transform from their arms.

That's not to say that the aesthetic itself is bad: They both look very alien, and vaguely techno-organic, not so much a fusion of organic stuff and technology, but organic shapes built with sharp mechanical edges.
dragon
whoa megatron how can he walk with big fraking gun on his back?

megatron face looks weird to long for him
Noideaforaname
That is some strange styling. But I love strange.
I like Optimus, reminds me a bit of RotF Jetfire for some reason.
Megatron makes me thing of Nightbird, but with a... gun. Among other things.
frenzyrumble
these are great. can't believe the hate on this artist's work. I understand many find it hard to see TFs outside what they are used to, but these are art, and they are great art, in my opinion.
ROKETOPUNCH
Sorry, these designs are terrible. Is that Pick Up sticks Optimus and Megatron? These are worse the Animated and Bay's designs combined. Bleccchhh.

Perhaps he is hiding another fusion cannon down there?
theestampede
I like them, far from my favorite designs, but they are definitely interesting looking interpretations.
AnithaPrime
Well..they aren't too great, I like Prime's face, but Megatron's trigger crotch just made me lol all over the place. But then again they're not too terrible, just different.
ThinkTank Customs
Huh?as far ax I know This is not fan art! This was the VERY early wfc conept art designs, there are online amiable for more than a year! Sa them here on the boards more than one time, but could not find them ATM

There was a guy on the boards who got signed versions of these on a convention! Have to look for them

Found them:

Opticron Primal
I'm surprised at how many people are quickly jumping on the defensive bandwagon. I think there's only been one post saying they hated it. most have been more indifferent then negative.

I personally don't like them. Too skinny and busy-looking. Like a mix of WfC and the movie designs only done incorrectly. The main things that bother me are Prime's skinny waist and Megatron's huge crotch trigger. Everyone compares these designs to anime mechs......I wonder what mechs they're talking about.
Sso02V
I dig the aesthetic. Brings Studio OX to mind, so it has a nice retro feel.
Mechafire
They're certainly different, but I kinda dig 'em.
PHLeal
Oddly enough, I like them... They remind me of L-Gaim, or Five Star Stories, so yeah, not really original, but I like those designs.
Duffcon
That painting of Prime was at last year's comic con too, nothin new
Brodimus Prime
My only suggestion is to remove the trigger from Megatron's crotch. Never have liked it when artists (including IDW) model the design after the toy. Just doesn't do it for me. Prime looks sweet, though. I'm thinking he was based on his TF: Prime version. Other than that, I'm kinda liking them. I wouldn't mind seeing a major reiminagining of the designs into something like these.
Buster_Witwicky
Megatron's trigger crotch is hilarious.
Kostya
Prime is alright, he just needs a vastly wider body so each leg isn't as wide as his chest.

Megatron needs a different face and no crotch thing but other than that he's fine.

I wouldn't mind the aesthetic the designer seems to be going for. They just need to tweak the designs a bit.
STRAKER454
Not bad. Nicely detailed. I think I would have liked to have seen these in the live action movie more than what we did get though. XD
Solrac333
I saw these on Deviant Art months ago. I've had Optimus as my desk top background.
Digilaut
Ugh. Technically they're great..I mean, it's not like the person who made this doesn't master his materials.

But concept wise? These things are terrible.
Bigbot3030
I wasn't going to chime in here, but since it's gotten so much negative reaction, i want to add in my comments. I first meet this artist several years ago at the Emerald city comicon. He had the megatron done, and I really liked the design. It's a cool blend of old and new (as in G1 and Movie, this was the same year as TFTM). One thing that may be hard to see is megs "extra parts" cannon has autobot symbols on tha barrel for everyone he's killed. Like WWII bombers. It's little stuff like that that grabs my attention. I'm the type that likes to see transformers change from time to time. After he told me that he was planning on a Prime that would go with it, I bought one.
Now comes this year and I was wandering around ECCC again and there he was, with the new prime print! Is it a perfect example of prime? No, and actually i'm more found of the Megatron now than the prime. Would I want to see a whole comic in this style? Maybe not. But it's a cool interpetation and i'm proud to own some of his artwork. I like to see new versions of our characters from time to time. There's only so many times I can see a G1 prime and be wowed by it, and I love that character/design.
Anywho, thats my

Randy!
