Two legends are about to meet. The news buzzing around the Web is that Larry King is going to interview Peter Cullen at the San Diego Comic-Con 2012.

The Hub officially announced this via Facebook:

“Friday, July 13, “OPTIMUS PRIME: Up Close and Personal” (6:00 p.m., Room 23ABC)

The incomparable Larry King, one of the most recognized broadcast interviewers in the world, goes one-on-one with voice actor Peter Cullen (Optimus Prime), a talent who is practically synonymous with Comic-Con itself. In this panel, "The King of Interviews" salutes the beloved Cullen and takes attendees through the actor's early days on the original 1984 animated TV series “Transformers Generation One,” the three box office smash Transformers movies, and his current work on The Hub TV network's Daytime Emmy® Award-winning animated series “Transformers Prime” from Hasbro Studios. Audience Q&A to follow.”

The Hub at SDCC will also feature other popular franchises including Aquabats, Dan vs. and My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic.

Hopefully, this will be the day we hear the return of Transformers: Prime.

Nice! I'm hoping the fans who'll attend to the Optimus panel will ask questions about when the show's break will end.

So...they've got this Optimus interview thing, but no actual panel for Transformers Prime? Seems like they have their priorities a little mixed up.

Hey, the Larry King interview sounds like it could be a blast.
shibamura_prime
Larry King interviewing Peter Cullen? That's pretty impressive. I hope at least parts of that will make it onto some sort of DVD/BD special features list one day.

He’s gone toe-to-toe with Megatron more times than we can count, but now Optimus Prime will be facing off with… Larry King?

The Hub have announced their Comic-Con schedule, and with it includes a panel called “Optimus Prime: Up Close and Personal” in which the voice of Optimus Prime, the legendary Peter Cullen, will sit down for an interview with Larry King. (Yes, they’ll be audience Q&A too). While there doesn’t look to be a Transformers: Prime-specific panel, this panel will obviously be able to cover that series, while also looking back at the various incarnations of Prime Cullen has voiced.

In addition, The Hub have panels for My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, Dan Vs., Kaijudo and The Aquabats! Super Show! Check out the full list of Hub panels below.

Friday, July 13, “My Little Pony Friendship is Magic” (10:00 a.m., Room 23ABC) “My Little Pony Friendship is Magic” makes its debut at Comic-Con International in San Diego! Join special guests from Hasbro Studios and The Hub TV Network’s “My Little Pony Friendship is Magic” as they share details of the making of the animated series and how “friendship” and “magic” are brought to life. Also includes audience Q&A.

Friday, July 13, “Dan Vs.” Special Live Comic-Con Exclusive Table Read (10:30 a.m., Room 6A) Making its debut at Comic-Con International in San Diego is The Hub Television Network's animated series “Dan Vs.” that follows Dan (Curtis Armstrong, Revenge of the Nerds), a lovable curmudgeon on a misguided quest for justice that leads him and his pals, Chris (Dave Foley, “Kids in the Hall”) and Elise (Paget Brewster, “Criminal Minds”), into misadventures and catastrophes. The cast, co-creators Chris Pearson and Dan Mandel, supervising producer/director Brian Sheesley, and moderator Tom Kenny (“SpongeBob SquarePants”) will participate in a live table read of a written-exclusively-for-Comic-Con script and give a behind-the-scenes look at the series. Audience Q&A to follow.

Friday, July 13, “OPTIMUS PRIME: Up Close and Personal” (6:00 p.m., Room 23ABC) The incomparable Larry King, one of the most recognized broadcast interviewers in the world, goes one-on-one with voice actor Peter Cullen (Optimus Prime), a talent who is practically synonymous with Comic-Con itself. Audience Q&A to follow.

Friday, July 13, “The Making of Kaijudo” (7:00 p.m., Room 24ABC) From Hasbro Studios, the producers of “Transformers Prime,” “GI Joe Renegades” and “My Little Pony Friendship is Magic,” comes a new animated TV series – “Kaijudo: Rise of the Duel Masters”™, seen on The Hub TV Network. Join the cast, including Scott Wolf (“V”), David Sobolov (“Beast Wars: Transformers”) and panel moderator Phil LaMarr (“Futurama”) as well as the Hasbro Studios production team and the R&D team from Wizards of the Coast for a conversation on how they brought the Kaijudo™ trading card game to life in this fantastical new series… you gotta see these creatures!

Many members are thinking the same thing.
Tekkaman Blade
I'd ask in the Hasboro panel, I doubt Cullen knows.

^^ Thank you for asking. ^^

Smooth, Obi.

That's pretty darn awesome. Larry King! And Cullen being interviewed. Though likely, they will hit many of the same questions, like the inspiration for Optimus' voice, the enduring popularity, his fun with Frank Welker, etc.

But, this gonna be pretty epic.
Motor_Master
Wow, I hope Hasbro or somebody captures this and puts it on the web.

Larry King to Peter Cullen: ''So Peter..as the iconic Optimus Prime, would you say that YOU HAVE THE TOUCH, THE POWER?!''

lame j/k

but if this is on CNN I'd love to watch and actually sit through and put up with King's droll personality for once. ;D
MTME
already a thread about this
Plainsjumper
That's awesome! I bet Peter Cullen has never been interviewed by an undead interviewer before!
ErbFan28
I hope this is on CNN

Posted yesterday...and beat this one by a couple of hours.

Okay where did the Larry King thread go to??? Merged, I suppose.
Chris McFeely
Oh, shoot, I thought this was going to be on the Hub.
TheTFReview
There is no way in hell I am going to miss the Larry King - Peter Cullen 1 on 1. That sounds too good to be true.

You do realize you linked the one that "beat me" right back to this thread right?
ex dtw2003
Cool.

Too bad though that Larry King is darn near rambling and borderline senile. I expect the interview to be chalk full of non-sequiter and rambling inchoerence. Poor Peter.
StarryAqua
So there's only a 1 hr Transformers panel, with only 2 people, and they will discuss all the Transformers brand. There's also a Q&A, which is usually about half the panel time. They better not talk about Prime for only 5 minutes.
nelodiavolo
Awesome news! I'm going to try to get into this panel. Hopefully the line isn't insanly long.
SteelMan296
yo' where can I get the full picture of Peter Cullen superman style? cause I want that on a shirt

^This.

Larry King and Peter Cullen are nice but it's more important if we got some new info from Prime.

Shame you missed the Ript shirt. I love mine

Driskull98
Unrelated to TF, but I'd love to see a crowd shot of the MLP panel just to see how many guys'll be there.
Powersa
The Hub actually got money to go to Comic Con. News.

I bought mine from Ript for 10 bucks, but you can buy the "voice of a generation" shirt here:

"The Voice of a Generation" T-Shirts & Hoodies by ninjaink | RedBubble

Costs more at $24.54 but I say its well worth it. I'm wearing my shirt to the con for sure.
alfred p. sloan
I doubt we'll learn much new from the Larry King interview but it's nice to see Peter Cullen get the all-star treatment. I certainly hope Peter is flattered by the opportunity.
Infosaur
I have one question for Larry King: "What took you (and by extension the hollywood media) so long? (To recognise Peter for all his work over the years)"
