San Diego Comic-Con International IDW Panel

Posted on 07-30-2009 at 03:59 PM by TM2 D-bot
San Diego Comic Con
1 Comic Book Resources has an article on their website, letting us know what to expect from IDW Publishing regarding its Transformers franchise. The following was said at the IDW Panel at the Sand Diego Comic-Con:

The room, consisting of a makeup of about 70% Transformers fans, exploded into applause (with one fan exclaiming 'All Hail Megatron') as Schmidt then began the Transformers related announcements.

"'Revenge of the Fallen' has already started. Issues 3 and 4 feature Jetfire. He was British in the movie, I don't know why. Next we have issues featuring RC and Ravage."

Schmidt continued, "Switching continuities to the comic continuity, we have a story with Perceptor which explains why he became so dark and brooding." Also announced were more issues, which will include a Bumblebee story and a Spike story, the latter written by the aformentioned Mike Costa. "Our big news is 'Transformers,' the ongoing series, written by Mike Costa with art by Don Figueroa." This received some cheers from the crowd. 'Transformers' will launch in November. Schmidt kept the presentation vague on story details as he toyed with the crowd. "This is really going to change the direction of what we've been doing with Transformers. (There are) big changes in issue #1. Someone might bite the dust." Gasps were then heard throughout the room. "But then, someone might not." The crowd broke out in laughter.

Schmidt also announced that "Transformers: Bumblebee" will be a new series written by Zander Cannon and illustrated by Chee. Zander spoke about Bumblebee's new role, "This (role) puts him in a difficult position, with the Decepticons left on Earth and a tenuous truce with the humans." Schmidt then closed out the panel with the announcement of another miniseries entitled "Transformers: Last Stand of the Wreckers" to be written and drawn by Nick Roche.

Early Peek at Autobot Edition Camaro at Comic Con

Posted on 07-21-2009 at 04:17 PM by Tony_Bacala
San Diego Comic Con
camaro-autobot-edition-013 A quick update from Comic Con early on, check out pics of what seems to be the Autobot Edition Chevy Camaro. Outside was mostly covered up, but the inside reveals a stitched Autobot logo on the center armrest. Outside features chrome Autobot symbol under the Camaro logo, and Autobot logos in the rim centers. Whether or not this is the "official" Camaro Autobot edition mentioned by GM earlier this year, or just a custom job by Hasbro for display purposes is not known. Either way, enjoy the pics!

San Diego Comic Con 2009 Transformers Panel Times

Posted on 07-11-2009 at 06:24 AM by Sol Fury
San Diego Comic Con
ccihdr_r1_c1 It's just two weeks until San Diego Comic Con 2009! The convention program has been revealed, and we can confirm that the Transformers panels will take place at the following times:

On Thursday 23 July at 12:30, Hasbro will be giving a panel on Transformers in Room 7AB. This is the much-anticipated "new products" panel which will recap some of what was shown at Botcon 2009, but will hopefully reveal some new surprises too! In particular a sneak peak at the ongoing 25th Anniversary celebrations into 2010 is promised - this is not one to be missed! GI Joe fans might want to get there an hour earlier to catch the GI Joe panel as well.

Then on Friday 24 July at 12:00 noon, head over to room 32AB for IDW Publishing's "The Great Transformers/G.I. Joe Crossover". This panel promises giveaways and special looks at upcoming projects for both the Transformers and the GI Joe comic franchises, video games and movie prop memorabilia.

In addition to this (and the queue to get some cool SDCC exclusive toys), you can also meet Transformers writer Simon Furman at San Diego Comic Con 2009, where he will be signing at the Dorling Kindersley Booth on Saturday 24 July between 4-5PM and Sunday 25 July 2-3PM.
