An article by CBR highlights the upcoming Transformers: Robots In Disguise Ongoing Comic Book Series (not to be confused with the previous comic book series with the same name). Following the announcement by Georgia Ball, this is the first time we are looking at the cover for the #1 issue.
“IDW makes the distinction that while the comic series is based on the “Robots in Disguise” TV show, it’s not an adaptation of the same stories. “The stories tie into the continuity the show shares with ‘Transformers Prime’ and what happens in the cartoon will have consequences in the comic,” Ball said in a statement to CBR. “But the comic will also feature new villains and explore different themes. There will be squabbles and there will be punching, but the first arc weaves in an element of mystery and betrayal. Bumblebee has to put the pieces together and he may not get them in the right order. I like resolving subplots in one or two issues within the context of a longer ongoing story, I’m not a fan of ending an issue without getting somewhere.””You can read the full article, at CBR.

Could you imagine if they had called it "More Than Meets The Eye" instead? People would flip their shit because its not IDW MTMTE in animation.
The original RID was a mostly forgettable era of Transformers history. Sure, it had some cool toys, but… yeah. (And yeah I realize there are a lot of passionate people here for that series, but in the long run, it's a small blip on the radar being only a filler series because they canceled Transtech and Armada wasn't read yet).
Too bad Hasbro doesn't currently have the rights to the original RID show. While it's a mediocre show at best, I'd like to have my Transformers DVD collection complete. (Just need BWN and BW2 as well).

That group cover looks good!

They shouldn't have name it the same name as RID. But I get that it's a title they own so they can do what they want. But they will always will have to clarify which series they are talking about. It can be frustrating.

"Wanna bake- cake- FZZT make something of it?"

For a second, I thought that cover of Fix-it looking towards the viewer had him saying "Wanna make something of it." but it was just a requote of his line from the cartoon.

I wonder how much contact IDW editorial and Georgia Ball have with the show's production team to keep things in continuity.
I think IDW did a wonderful job back with TF Animated: The Arrival with Marty Isenberg writing that miniseries, and that the TF: Prime comic miniseries were written by Mairghead Scott who wrote several episodes of the show.
If this series manages to logically fill in some gaps and give fun behind the show stories like TFA: The Arrival, then I could see myself really digging the series as a complement to the show. I am also relieved by the idea that every issue or two will tell a complete story. Decompressed storytelling has its time and place, but when you are only putting out 20 pages of material in a month, then things can really drag if you don't have a really solid story. (Although I'm guessing that the 1-2 issue stories are partially related to the intended audience of the book, kids who watch the show.)

Covers look good and it sounds like an interesting read.

Excited that my friend Georgia is onboard to write these!

Riiiiight. Like we didn't know the subtitle 'Robots in Disguise' wouldn't be confusing.
On topic, covers look good. I wonder if they'll flesh things out like the TF Animated comics did years ago, as opposed to the UK comics which were 'attached' to the Bay Movies but in reality barely connected to the films.

I think i'll pas.

I really hope the comic being in continuity with the show doesn't hurt the show. I don't want to have to read the comics to understand the show. Not that I have a problem with reading comics, but I don't always have the money for them, and last I checked, they don't air on TV.
I wish they'd get rid of the predictable vocal tic for Fixit. It's stupid. I like Fixit, but that… thing he does is just annoying.
I still don't understand the marketing, though. Changing the names around like that is ridiculously confusing. They should have just come up with a more original name for the show to begin with. Then, we wouldn't be having this problem.

The comic will connect to the show's continuity? Cool! I've already been interested in checking out the comic, but now I'm definitely tempted.

You and me both! I can't wait to have something to satisfy my RID fix during the hiatus, heh.
And these covers are looking pretty cool, too.

That one cover…
Fixit: "What the hell are YOU lookin' at!?"

Ahhh~, I'm so excited for this series.
I just don't want to wait until July for it to begin. But at least I'll have issue #0 to tide me over until then.
