I'm far too optimistic about that Bumblebee than what this kind of thread would allow me to be.

You do know where you are, right?

why would anyone buy these unless it was for your child?

At this point all I really want is Strongarm.
Maybe Grimlock.

Okay, guys you have to remember like someone said we did the same thing with the Prime line and that these are only four out of how many that have already been revealed and a few of them actually look ok.
So yes, while I am going to save a ton of money this year, we should all still have hope in the toy line.
Also, remember this is a kids line, so it doesn't look like they put effort into half the toys, but look at generations (not counting that piece of junk that is named Optimus Prime that is coming out next year) it looks like they put two times the effort that they put into these!
So what I say is, have hope, I do.

Warrior Class Bee looks OK. Liking the vehicle mode a lot. I like the robot design, too, but the car parts hanging off the back really hurt the silhouette. Will need to see more before I make a judgment. Really hope we get a proper toy of that Grimlock, though. That design is amazing. Love both the robot and dino mode. So chunky and cool. It's really too bad that the Hyper Change version seems to lack even elbow joints.

Was hoping one step changers would go away with aoe, ;-P , but i'll have to see these in the flesh ( no wait, plastic) to know whether I'll buy any or not

I don't know why you're comparing this to Animated but I don't this toyline will be bad, It'll more likely be like the Prime RID line which was just alright.
I actually quite like Bumblebee, he's mistransformed to hell and back but it's not that bad really.
DOTM Bumblebee
Warrior Class Bumblebee looks pretty good… I might just get him…
Hyper-Change Bumblebee looks really good, too.
Hyper-Change Grimlock looks wonderful in T-Rex mode but is a let down in robot mode.
One-Step Sideswipe actually looks pretty good.

where's grimlock?

I'm pretty sure Grimlock's tail just detaches to become some sort of weapon, that's hardly parts-forming. It's not like you have to completely dissemble one mode and reassemble to parts to form the other mode. Ask Omega Supreme.

Kind of yes and kind of no. It just depends on whether you're really into the cartoon enough to want figures from it or not.
When they first revealed the upscaled BH Cyberverse figures their basic rationale was that they've been "trying to please everyone but failing to please anyone 100%" (cartoonish style to please kids but increasingly complex figures that adult collectors would appreciate). So as its the older collectors who tend to enjoy the comics etc. they get the characters from those and other updated versions of classic characters in the generations line, while the kids are 'hooked and reeled in' by the simplified line and its associated media and they will grow up to become the next generation of collectors who will 'graduate' to the Generations line. Obviously the movies are the area where the two lines merge.
Not necessarily defending or condemning the approach, though I do think offering too many versions of each character does kind of bloat the shelves.

Pretty sure Generations is for the adult collectors…

Something about the colors being used here (the large amount of stark white and pale blue against the drastic black and red) makes me think of fast food to go bags/ packaging. It doesn't help that the toys look like Burger King kids meal toys….

Bumblebee is okay, but no paint apps on Sideswipe and… Parts-Former Grimlock get an F
