MTV Movies Blog has posted an exclusive short story from Transformers: Exodus author Alex Irvine that provides the story regarding how Bumblebee lost his voice. The short story further provides a tie-in between the War for Cybertron and movie canon.
Check out the short story by clicking the MTV Movies Blog link above. Transformers: Exodus was released yesterday at bookstores.

If you think you're bothered now, this'll make you rage: their in-movie explanation for Bee's voicelessness is that "he's faking it."
That's it- He's doing it on purpose, for no real good reason. Just because he wants to.
When we all know that Bay just liked the gimmick and wanted to bring it back.

And also, isn't WFC to do with G1 and not the movieverse…. =-\
…. -.-

Didn't they explain that in "Transformers – Beginnings"….

i have to say that was kinda lame
MrSoundwaveGuy
Yeah considering TF: Prime BB looks alot like movie BB this kinda strengthens that rumor that WFC is a prequel to Prime

Yeah considering TF: Prime Bumblebee looks alot like his movie version it kinda strengthens that rumor that WFC would be a prequel to Prime

Ugh, I'm so tired of the attempts to shoehorn the movie into everything else. Better to just let the movies stand on their own and let all the other stuff stand by itself.
Hasbro already has Snake Eyes as the mute who can't be defeated by anyone so do we really need every version of Bumblebee to be a Snake Eyes clone?
Plus while the radio thing works on Earth because we've got more than enough radio for Bumblebee to get across almost anything he wants to say. But how would that work on Cybertron unless the Transformers have some version of classic rock and talk radio.
Mechafire
Bumblebee talks a lot in WFC, and his Generations bio mentions him being mute. I don't really care which continuity this all ties into either way, but something still tells me it'll be TF: Prime.

Eh… Transformers has a much broader canon than other things. Take for instance, the average manga, like One Piece or something. Things that happen in the manga are canon, but things that happen in the anime aren't, even if the anime is more well known. With Transformers, though, pretty much anything that Hasbro releases or allows to be released is canon because, in some capacity, they approved of it.
But, to make this work, we have to accept that Transformers doesn't exist in one smooth continuity. Now, we know that, for instance, G1 and the Movie are seperate continuities, but even within those, they have their own mini-continuities. The TransTech series explains this concept with "Universal Streams." Each main continuity has its own name, and then the continuities within them are seperated by numbers. So, you've got the G1 Cartoon, the G1 Comic, the G2 Comic, and the Beast Wars cartoon. They're all G1, yeah, but the specific events didn't all happen in the same stream.
And so, the Movie has this as well. The Toy Bios, the Comics, the Movie itself, the Video Games. None of them are exactly the same, but they all belong to the Movie's overall continuity.

Exodus is too. With exception of SG-verse. Interestingly Exodus' backstory for Prime and Megs is somewhat similar to Transtech only that it went all wrong.

Better than being a turbo-mouth dumbass like Animated Bee I guess.
But it's weird, he's either a fast talker or mute nowadays, ngh.

the bios of the Late 2007/Early 2008 toys from the film are not canon
Darkwing48
Where can I find a list of the released bay-verse books?
Rhinox555
Although the toy bios claim Movie Bumblebee lost his voice to Hardtop.

I hate people who will bitch and moan due their own lack of the ability to pay attention to news posts for half a second.
War for Cybertron is a nexus of sorts for various continuities.. That means it splits off into G1, Prime, Movie, and/or others.

Nice to read a short sample of Irvine's writing. I've been wondering whether i should get the book.
So this is meant to be a WfC prequel story then? Launching the Allspark into space and Bumblebee losing his voice by Megatron's hands seem very similar to the '07 movie's backstory. The brief mentions of the Thirteen are of interest tho'.

Well, I don't have a problem with the yellow skin, it's the normal skin I'm referring to. Data is seduced by the prospect of the Queen giving him normal skin, but, it seems to me that giving an Android real skin shouldn't be that hard to do. We can already make skin grafts in the present. And, Brent Spiner sort of knew that from the start, but he didn't mind the yellow skin when Roddenberry explained it to him. But then, later writers went against that idea.

I'm not too bothered as my Bumblebee toy will talk plenty when I'm going 'Pew! Pew!' with my figures in the sandpit.
Laser_Optimus
Yeah, I'm a big fan of Star Trek and I have to say that those have always been things that bugged me. Because, you're right, if they could make Geordie see beyond the normal human spectrum then it should have been pretty easy to make him see normally as well… given that any modern camera can see normally.
The Data thing, not so much, because I always liked the yellow skin on the character… maybe Soon intended it to be better? I mean… in First Contact when he destroys the Borg Queen… his normal 'more human' skin is destroyed off his body, but his android skin is left intact.
Putting all this into context with Bumblebee… it just doesn't make sense that they wouldn't be able to fix this. I mean, in the movie they never explained why it wasn't fixed… just that Ratchet was 'still working on it'. In the IDW prequel comics they at least made it make sense… he left Cybertron so fast after the Allspark he never gave Ratchet time to fix him. THAT made sense of that line from the movie. But it doesn't explain why he still can't talk two years later in Revenge of the Fallen! Especially with a medic on hand!
My point exactly!
Doesn't mean we have to like it! Seriously, just because Hasbro thinks it's a good idea doesn't mean it is. Myself, I wish they'd just let the movieverse stay in the movieverse rather than let it bleed over into other continuities.
Gryph
Don't worry people. Bee talks plenty in WFC. I'm guessing by the time they decided to drop the mute thing, it was just too late to change the toy packaging.
