Hasbro’s CEO Brian Goldner today during a company earnings conference call made hint to the possibility that G.I. Joe, Transformers and My Little Pony could be returning to television in 2010. Goldner stated that they planned to have television support for these three properties along with Star Wars: The Clone Wars and a number of Marvel related projects, and that they plan to reveal more details about these projects at their Hasbro Investor Day event which will be held on November 5, 2009 at their headquarters in Rhode Island.
Goldner also confirmed that Transformers 3 had been giving a go by Paramount with a July 1, 2011 release date and that they were also moving forward with a squeal for G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra.
Goldner also stated during the Q&A portion of the call when asked about the statues of the long rumored Star Wars live-action television series from Lucas Entertainment, that to the best of his knowledge development was still ongoing and the show should come sometime in the future. When asked if Hasbro was working with Lucas to bring any Star Wars related programming to their new television network with Discovery Communication, he stated not at this time. Looks like it.
However,I fear it will immediately get canned for TF3 and its toy line.
General Magnus:
You say that like itīs a bad thing...
LightningZERO:
This is interesting. I hope the new series will be great
SPLIT LIP:
If the series comes in 2010, and TF3 doesn't hit until 2011, why would it be immediately canned?
I welcome any and all change to Transformers with open arms. I think TF:A showed us that new and different can be a good thing.
BScorpinok75:
That's great news. Wonder if it'll be based on any existing universe or something new.
TRANS+CRAZY:
Interesting... I wonder what the new TF series will be like?
And they're also working on a sequel to GI Joe: Rise of Cobra? Cool...
Ravenxl7:
Great news. I was hoping that TF3 coming earlier than we had expected wouldn't stop Hasbro from making a new show for next year. It'll be intersting to see what they have in store for us, and how big it's toy line will be (it'll have one, just probably not a very large one).
Edit: Thinking about this some more, if it isn't directly based off of the Movie-verse, I think it'll have some kind of connection/similarities to it. I'm hoping that they continue the show after TF3 has it's run on shelves, instead of just dropping it. We'll just have to wait and see what they do with it. I won't be surprised if, along with Prime, Megs, and Starscream, Bumblebee ends up as a character in the show.
Shelfwarmercon:
Cybertron 90210.
Book it Hasbro.

and i look forward to another new series, even if it is just filler between the movies...maybe it'll be an extension of animated, much like beast machines was to beast wars...
Baccala1976:
Why do I have a funny feeling that they are going to do a cartoon based on the movieverse?
Starscreamer217:
He's saying they're gonna can it because once the movie gets close, it'll stop abruptly and get thrown in like a towel so Bay and Hasbro can get rich again!
Animated went that way, and thats how this new show's gonna go too. It'll be even shorter than Animated, though, if it starts in 2010 and then ends a year later for 3.
ORIO:
Hooray for new cartoons and toys! BRING IT.
Also, Joe 2? I'm pretty excited about that

While Hasbro has never stated this clearly, from what I have gathered, Animated was created by Hasbro to hedge their bets. It was done in a style that was the complete opposite of the movie so that Hasbro would be able to immediately distance themselves from the movie IF the movie bombed.
Fortunately (except perhaps for Animated), the movie was more successful than anybody expected, so technically, Animated was no longer needed.
I think any television series Hasbro will do in the future will not be canceled like that. Animated evidently just didn't fit with how Hasbro wanted to market the brand anymore, and its likely future tv shows will better fit what Hasbro wants.
Brave Magnus:
Wiii!! this is definitely good news. If its sequel to Animated then its gladly welcome, if it isnt then its gladly welcome too. XD
I still have to watch G.I. Joe.
SmokescreenGT:
Cool! Can't wait to see what they come up with.
Takara_destron:
Most interesting...

I suspect thing slike Don's G1-meets-the-movie look or that Terrible animation Hasbro had on their site with the Movie BB with G1 head will be the direction, something that embraces both sides...
Ratchet2007:
If one is gonna start, it won't be on for long because of TF3
Mechafire:
Very interesting.

Hasbro won't want two major toylines butting their heads at once. Therefor, one of them has to get canned. This would also mean Universe gets the short end of the stick again.

But if the cartoon is based on the movieverse, then it (and its toyline) wouldn't necessarily be canned once the third movie comes out.

I mean how many of the same toys can Hasbro Produce. They need a diffrent direction.

A good example of this would be the MTV Spiderman cartoon.

Given my experiences with Animated, I now welcome the new TF series with a big bear hug in hopes it'll do well when it hits. In fact, I wouldn't mind a continuation to Robots In Disguise (though it'll probably never happen).
Attacker_Prime:

Transformers has survived continuity problems before, though. If G1 spawned different continuities between the comics and TV versions, there's no reason why it couldn't (or shouldn't) happen with a movieverse cartoon.
Hollywood Hoist:
I hope the new show would be based on classics/Universe, they can retell the G1 continuity, rerelease many of the original classics and Universe and of course throw in new molds as well. The realistic style vehicles work with the movie verse to a degree.
Of course they could do a one year series like the A/E/C series were.
AniProwl:
Is this going to be front paged or no?
miscreant:
Yayyy time for people to get their hopes up, then post about how it's all Hasbro's fault for failing to meet their expectations.

I hope this one lasts longer, I made me sad when Animated ended
I really hope it's a spin off of TFA, even still, I would welcome it if it isn't.

Wheeljack_Prime:
How do we know TFA wasn't canned due to redtape business politics of moving the show to another channel? ROTF maybe did have something to do with it, but if so, that couldn't have been the deciding factor.
Starscream NZ:
Animated had a large toyline as well as 3 seasons of episodes, it did as well as the other large TF franchises. I know the ending felt very abrupt for it but as a whole it was just as big as prior toylines so I don't have such a problem with it ending.
It's no lie that the toyline didn't do well in most places either. Argue what you saw in your local toyshop but as a whole Animated was over-produced and over-saturated.
I hope for a new continuity that has the same level of story telling we got with Animated/BW. Using a G1 Universe could be an interesting move - as I don't know if I can see them using the movie-verse characters as it'd lower sales for TF3 if kids could be buying movie-based toys for months beforehand. Unless they went for a 'War Within' idea and did pre-earth movieverse stories.
Tekkaman Blade:
I hope the new joe series is based off of resolute.

jerky123:
I thought it would be cool to have a cartoon that takes characters from every series (Unicron Trilogy, BW & BM, TFA), then give them a Universe style design, and make a cartoon out of it.
I would also love to see the vcartoon have at least one Shattered Glass style episode. Focusing on a Decepticon and Autobot who get caught in a teleportation field, teleporting them to the SG universe. That was one thing that would have made TFA even better. daitarn red:
I hope see headmasters, targetmasters , powermasters in the new tf series
*Soundwave*:
i hope the new series has robots that turn into vehicles and stuff. =P
idc what it is, i know ill buy all the toys anyway
Shaba:
I'd like to see a TF series similar to the Clone Wars series that's currently airing on CN. The purpose of that show is to bridge Ep II and III of SW and it would be great to see a bridge between Transformers movies, as well. The IDW comics and Dean Allen Foster novels just don't do that 'bridging' justice.
Also, I remember seeing some cartoon renderings of Movieverse TFs in some of the IDW comics and they look awesome!
Fort Max:
I'm wondering, will the inevitable toy line for this show run alongside the rivals line or is it in fact the rivals line...

hasbro said the next series would be in 2010 a while back (i remember reading off somewhere and just stuck with it), looks like i ain't as stupid as i sound right?
i just do NOT want a movieverse show....i am tired of these movie toys and i love the movies....animated was such a fresh breath compared to the constant movie stuff shoved down our throats
Triggerhappy:
Transformers meets GI Joe in the Animated Universe *fingers crossed*
*never gonna happen..... EVER
Xenon:
How have the sales of the Universe/Classics been compared against the movies lines?
