SG Collect DFT-01 (Drift) Figure

SG Collect DFT-01 (Drift) Figure 1f4d9158b35030dacc9ac25d33dd85
Third party developer SG Collect has released new images of its DFT-01 (Drift) model kit. These are 5 printed figures made for casting and give an idea of the final product details. The final kit requires assembly and painting and is not an official Hasbro or Takara-Tomy representation of the character.

DFT-01's alternate form seems to be based on IDW's Cybertronian mode. Features previously noted by SG Collect include: articulation comparable to a Classic/Henkei figure; 3 swords; and 5.5 inches of height.

This figure will be available as an exclusive for a July/August 2009 toy convention. The resin kit will be limited to only 300 pieces.

MegaHavok:
that looks like it was sculpted by hand...I predict more fans getting ripped off ust like with magnus upgrade
Scourge_151:
I think those may be from a rapid prototype printer, the leg anyway judging by all the horizontal line in it.

Yup, it does look like it was from a rapid prototype. Also looks like it will be a brick. Not sure why they said it was going to have Universe/Henkei articulation.

Added new info to the news post.
primal-convoy:
We have to male and paint it oursel...PASS!
dark69:
i like the head but it looks...a big brick
buzzsaw84:
Those pictures make me want transformers shape gummy candy.
thygriever:
ehhh i'll wait until i can see the whole thing together
Locustreign:
I'm interested but 2 things make me hold off:

a) As Venksta said, Henkei articulation? I'm not sure on this and kind of want to see proof.

b) The CC upgrade fiasco. Nuff said!
bradforj:
SGCollect needs to give up. CC head was pure comedy with the "Why so serious?" look. And now this. These guys suck. Amateurs.

As long as they do small runs for their members only, this kinda stuff is cool. But once they start making tons because some fan boys out side of singapore hype it up, then they need to go back to their day jobs.

lol That was my exact same thought.

I will wait for the final product to make up my mind. Too early to tell.
Waverider:
All 300 will sellout in the first 15 minutes when they are available. Why? Because it's Drift!!!
protostar8:
Well, I for one still hope that a KO maker gets ahold of these and makes cheap copies. And since they are only gonna make a limited number anyhow, it wouldn't be like the KO maker was really hurting the company's profit margin so long as the company sells out (which they likely will).
ORIO:
Yeah... I dunno about this.
Bgrngod:
Isn't this the group that made the super melty face CC head that ended up needing replacing?

I hope they can pull this off and make a kick-ass Drift, but I have a bad feeling there will be problems again.
jason jupiter:
Heres the original thread, someone asked about the articulation and the question was ignored. They said they would "see what they could do" and then proceeded to go ahead and SLA the exact unmodified 3D model they posted pictures of. Way too rushy on this project which is strange because 3D printing is pricey, even in China; and it sucks because I think I know who modeled this and he's a really cool guy:

Hi-Q's paperformer drift had a really good work-flow for creating a 1:1 paper prototype that would have been easier to get dimensions and CAD from rather than doing the whole thing in Alias/Rhino/Maya/etc...

NIDARAM12:
Whatever history they had I really don't see anything in these pictures that is any worse than the prototypes Bandai and other companies put out. Plus it's hard to make out the fit and finish on the translucent parts.
