This may turn out to be the biggest TRANSFORMERS news story of the year if it turns out to be true. The folks over MTV Geek have kicked up the rumor cloud surrounding Disney and it’s recent use of purchasing power. This time Hasbro itself is in the crosshairs!
“By “Geek Spy”OK folks, take this one with a grain of plastic for the time being. Unless you’ve been under a rock, you’ve heard that Disney acquired Lucasfilm for roughly $4 billion last week and Marvel for around the same price a few years prior. Well, we have it on good authority that serious discussions are happening at the highest levels of both Disney and Hasbro to fold the largest toy and game company on the planet into the Mouse.
From what we’re told, these are still just discussions at this point, but serious enough that something could be announced at any time and create ripples throughout the entertainment industry. “

Good point. Thread closed.

how is it that this thread is still going on?? It has been confirmed as nothing but a rumor that was posted.

LOL!
No I haven't. Fair play to you!
Also, looks like a lot of you guys have a different experience at TRU than I do. Last time I went in there to find the GDos, none were on the shelf and the scalper who works there actually approached me in the store while he was working and tried to peddle his ill gotten gains to me.
But I see your point if you have a scalper free tru.

I never said what I don't want is useless. I detest the movieverse and Prime designs, I don't wish them to be discontinued though because of people who DO like and purchase them. What I DON'T want is toys who have their own line shoved into another line where the slots are finite.
As for the legends comment…
And the single packs were out in 2009, when Universe was fighting for shelfspace with shelfwarming Blackarachnias and Waspinators.
Insane Galvatron
I think it had less to do with Hasbro/Disney and more to do with that other big event that happened on Tuesday. I mean, the whole market crashed. Not just Hasbro and Disney stocks.
Autovolt 127
True. The closest near me is in Syracuse, New York and I live in Ottawa. Yeah the Disney store is a sweet store i wished they'd didn't close the one in the Rideau Shopping Centre.
PrimusVsUnicron
Rumor is debunked
Mods lock the thread plz

Definitely. There's not a single Disney store within a 800km radius of where I live, which is in the capital city of my state.

Also, they'd have an incentive to reserve the best exclusives for themselves, which would defeat the purpose of using them in retailer negotiations in the first place.
Autobot Burnout
I find it amusing that you're complaining about TRU getting all the exclusives when that only causes one of two things:
1. Those exclusives will shelfwarm for a long, long time, meaning it's easy to get them within a very reasonable window past their release
Or
2. They sell out within seconds of restocking because they're popular.
Walmart usually is also good about at least having their exclusives available depending on stock levels, although the whole MP Skywarp debacle probably left a bitter taste in their mouths because he didn't sell nearly as well as hoped. Target…well, their exclusives over the past few lines haven't exactly been spectacular, the only "good" one I can even think of is Space Case and he was hard as hell to find due to being shortpacked in a wave of repaints of figures that kind of sucked.
Also, just saying, but simply because Disney has their own exclusive stores does not mean it would improve distribution. In fact, I think it would only make it worse if some figures were limited to those because I haven't seen a Disney store in years, much less in my immediate area, and I know that's true for many others as well.
Autobus Prime
PH:
Haven't shopped for many Cars toys, I presume?
Pale Horse
I truly wish Disney WOULD buy Hasbro. Because the pathetic distribution would end right there forever. You'd have tons of product everywhere and ZERO chance of TRU getting all the exclusives when Disney has it's own massive stores.
End the madness and sell out, Hasbro.

Ohmigod. Best post in this thread.
You are amazing, I couldn't have said it any better. I hate how some fans defend what is so clearly ripping off Transfomers IP.
You did good, G1Prowl, you did good.
Autobot Burnout
You sure about that? I'm pretty sure it was during the middle of the line when the Animated legends got a Universe release, namely because they did later show up in Animated packaging along side crystal/Stealth Lockdown and that amazingly hideous "Movie deco" Ratchet;
Considering the last of Animated didn't get released until 2010 through the TRU Deluxes, and these multi-packs are from 2008, the line wasn't dead at all. I think it was more of the fact Universe had a legends class price point and Animated didn't (because of Activators), so the few Legends Animated had were put into Universe to simply getting them to market.
General Magnus
So, because something you particularly don´t want it´s now useless. Right…
As for the legends slots, those were when the Animated line was pretty much dead. So might aswell get them up in the market.
Aernaroth
What? Not even close. The GDP of the United States was roughly 15 TRILLION last year, that's two orders of magnitude larger than the entire value of Disney, even though they're a global corporation. Disney's economic activities are a drop in the bucket. And how much does Disney have? Like I said, their entire company is worth around $100 billion, and that would likely include all their assets (including their cash on hand).
G1Prowl
So much to address, where to start?
First off, I'm well aware that there are several people here who will buy these things when I won't. There are also people who will sink tons into KOs when I won't, what's your point? Should I NOT dislike or refuse to support something because someone else DOES support them? Asinine. Just as asinine as assuming that everyone wants something just because a minority of the fandom does.
Second, what posts are you talking about? I know that I don't indeed want Prime/Bayverse shit shoved into the FOC line. They get their own lines. It's no different than Legends slots tied up in Universe 2.0 by Animated Legends class figs. Useless.
I'm totally fine with 3rd party accessories or replacement heads as if anything it could possibly encourage purchase of an otherwise lackluster mold. Had FP's Cliffjumper head come out while CJ was fresh on the shelves, I don't think he ever would have shelfwarmed.
That being said, to me, full on figs are no different than someone making significant money off of an unauthorized film from an established franchise. It's no less wrong.
YoungPrime
I have a love/hate relationship with 3rd party dev's
I love the designs because they beat Hasbro at their own game at least 7 times out of 10.
I hate them because when they came up with those price tags, the phrase "A sucker is born every minute" was likely their inspiration.
All I can say is that Disney wouldn't have let this slide.
General Magnus
Thought shit for you son. I will most likely buy the FP Menasour and like me several other people on the board. You not buying it won´t make a dent.
And consider some of your other posts (specifically that FoC should not cater to the Prime/Bayverse fans), you are the last person to talk about "sense of entitlement".
Autovolt 127
This totally.
I will always buy the official Hasbro products no matter what. I want to buy Transformers not-Transformers.
