So were TFW2005's answers "lost" again?

Anyhow, no Universe Red Alert. That's not surprising, but now I have to order the Henkei.

Hmm, movie premiums aren't out of the question. I really wouldn't be surprised to see at least Prime and Bumblebee get a premium treatment again.

Also I'm siked about the idea that we'll be seeing a Wheeljack figure again sooner or later!

Awesome that Animated toys will continue throughout 2009. Season 3 has too many cool characters to not get more toys out.

I don't get the Animated non-answers. Is it so hard to just admit the show is ending? And new toys throughout 2009 is vague enough to mean anything.

We don't even know if it's ending. Hell, Hasbro probably doesn't even know if it's ending. It's really not uncommon to wait for the previous season to finish before greenlighting another.

Not surprised about Premiums.

Looking at Hasbro as a Business, if making Premium Editions means making more money from figure molds which have already been paid for then by all means they will do it than wasting more money on an entirely new figure and all the costly processes needed to produce it.

Sign me up for Premium Leader Prime and anything else Premium! I love em!

From a product perspective, the news is that NONE of the following have a planned release, at least this year:
-Mighty Muggs after Grimlock & Starscream
-The remaining Universe Robot Heroes (Primal/Jetstorm, Victory Sabre/Desaras, Ricochet/Predaking, etc.)
-Movie Backtrack, Gunbarrel, and Reverb

yeah this is really not exciting news though it is nice that Animated is getting new product but i dont collect them any more

Basically I think they quietly said count on remaining retailer exclusives (Darkwind & Countdown) for the Universe line and any others that may be snuck into ROTF packaging (Superion & Bruticus).

Damn.. getting answers from these guys is like pulling teeth. The Star Wars team will at least drop a few hints.

hmmmm. given the awkward time frame (really to early to talk about much more than what they showed at toyfair) i'm not surprised at most of the non-answers.

i'm gonna go ahead and predict Wheeljack for wave 1 of Universe/Classics 3.0 post movie ~ that was an unusually straightforward answer for them EDIT: oh, crap, unless they were talking about an Animated version

The Drift answer is pretty vague too, but definitely seems to skew more in the "probably happening" than "not happening" vein...

It's good to know that Season 3 characters will be getting toys. The only question is who, and how many?

they're not gonna spill the beans on stuff that'd most likely be Q2 of 2010 at the earliest ~ given that's the soonest a "hiatus" would be over, and especially since who knows how plans might change by then.

Hasbro's just dodging questions all over the place. They wouldn't elaborate on Animated beyond there being some season 3 toys, and Drift is either getting a toy, or isn't...

All in all, this was pretty unimpressive, and they could at least grow a pair of balls and just flat out tell us what they're really thinking. At this point, they're not really going to alienate anyone else, they've already done that.

I wonder if Animated Arcee might be scrapped in favor of Season 3 figures... though I doubt they'd be that stupid, the fan uprising alone would would bring them a world of shit.

Guys, they aren't even talking about Universe continuing until at LEAST 2010, why would they be talking about a Universe Wheeljack "in the near future"? It's Animated Wheeljack. The question is whether they're talking about a bonafide toy or just his appearance in Season 3.

Well, I'm sure as hell glad that we'll EVENTUALLY see season 3 toys for this year (ME WANTS ANIMATED BLACKOUT!). However, I don't like how they say that they "cannot speak to any rumors regarding the animated series". That's pretty much Hasbro covering their asses, when they really wanna say, "Yes, season 3 is the last season, you morons. Quit crying."

So, technically, that means Universe is canceled. AGAIN. Nice going, Hasbro. *Sarcasm*

So, no plans for a Jazz toy, yet there's a chance we may get a Universe Wheeljack? *Sigh* Also, I find it somewhat hard to believe that they can't make a Classics Soundwave because kids don't know what a cassette player is. Just make him a tape recorder; some people still use those. If not, then make him a truck that can fit Ravage inside.

Animated Wheeljack makes me happy.

I don't understand how they can say 'kids today just wouldn’t even know what that is' about Soundwave's alt mode when that didn't stop them before.

I really hope they do one for Universe eventually, but they must be talking about TFA, which is totally cool. At first I actually thought they meant something on the ROTF line and I started thinking about that Saab Aero X that people were suggesting. Which would also be cool.

yeah, it's annoying isn't it. Seemed to be quite a few non-answers, but it's nice to hear there will be season 3 toys, even if we sort of knew that already.

Maybe they think it'd be bad for business if they admit the show is finished. Stores would reduce their orders or something. Maybe they think it's good for business to make fans think it's future is in jeopardy when it's really not. Maybe they're still in negotiations with Cartoon Network to continue it. Maybe Walmart are meddling with it. Maybe they just haven't decided. Wish I knew.

The links to the Q&As I posted in the previous page, man. The RH question was actually asked specifically by yours truly on the Collectors' Club forum Q&A, and that was the response. No more Universe Robot Heroes for at least 2009.

And I don't know why. They don't say.

Wait, they're canceling the rest of the Universe Robot Heroes? WHY? We've seen in-package shots of them, so I assumed that they were ready to go any time now. That's just downright stupid to cancel them. Further proof that Hasbro cares only for ROTF. They just toss Animated and Universe to the side like yesterday's newspaper.

Then make him a surveillance van or humvee then.. as long as it's boxy, blue and looks cool it's better than no update at all.

Between this and Animated being on it's last season, I'm really annoyed with Hasbro. At least I can get a movie version of Sideswipe for Robot Heroes.

No New classics.. = No money from my pocket..

1) Are the last two waves of TF Universe Robot Heroes being released in
the US? (RID Megs/Prime, Victory Sabre/Dezaras, Tigatron/Inferno, Prowl/
Laserbeak, Beast Machines Primal/Jetstorm) We've had pictures of them
for a while now, but no further indications that they are going to be
released, such as online stores putting them up for pre-order.

Unfortunately, there are no current plans to release these figures in
2009 or in the near future within the U.S. However, rest assured that we
will continue to look for creative opportunities where we can deliver these
figures to all of our fans.

2) A lot of signs seem to be pointing towards the end of Animated. What
brought about the demise of such a great series? Were sales not high
enough, TV ratings too low, or did other, more internal factors play a
major part in the decision? If indeed it is ending, do you have any
plans yet for a new TV show or continuing the Animated toy line past 2009?

While we cannot speak to any rumors regarding the Animated series at this
time, we did want to mention how excited we are for the launch of Season 3!
We feel that this new season just builds on the success of the previous two
seasons.

3) Will we see any homages to Machines Wars, Beast Machines or Energon
in the main Universe line or the Legends line?(because Legends-class
Beast Wars/Beast Machines characters would be the perfect scale for
Autobot and Decepticons!)

Anything is possible. Transformers has such a great bank of characters
with great back stories, names, colors and alt modes. Almost any character
and era is fair game - you never know what we will be tapping into moving
forward. If there is excitement and enthusiam for the figures, we do our
best to make them available.

Am I the only one who noticed this? They said the Universe Classics 2.0 was done and the main line would be ROTF. So does that mean we'll see more classic character in ROTF like the combiners?

Really? Well that doesn't make any sense. One of the answers Hasbro gave Action Figure Insider was:

'Currently, we do not have any plans to do any additional G1Transformers in the Robot Heroes line outside what has been announced for 2009, including supersized bots! Unfortunately too, it is still a bit too early to release any information about our plans for 2010 and what this expression will mean at that point in time.'

Wouldn't that mean all the G1 RH figures we know about are coming?

I think they're suggesting that, had they given the individual bots robot modes, then Devastator itself would have been compromised (certainly, in terms of reflecting the on-screen appearance). Given the complexity of the CGI bots, and the fact that triple-changers usually ARE compromised in at least one mode (and/or kibble-tastic in others), I can believe it...

Interesting theory. We did get intended-for-Universe repaints dumped in the movie line at the insistence of Walmart. It wouldn't really surprise me if Universe repaints like Red Alert get dumped into ROTF.

I am happy about Season 3 toys getting released.

I boo their dodging of the Season 3 question but understand it's contractually motivated.

If it wasn't for the question I asked in the TFCC forums, I'd be in agreement, but they specifically say those are NOT coming out. So I'd assume "what has been announced for 2009" only means the 1 wave that is out currently-- Snarl/Sharkticon, Perceptor/Hardshell, Cheetor/Tankor.
