Earlier this year we reported of a collaboration between Hasbro and Shapeways to sell 3D printed artwork based on fan submitted designs. The SuperFanArt project is to start out with approved designs for My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic and then expand into other brands including Transformers. Thanks to TFW2005 board member Trentulas we now know that approval emails are being sent out to the fan designers for approved projects, which include Transformers!
We were also provided a list of which projects were approved for sale, which gives us a clearer indication of what to expect to be available for purchase after the new year (image linked of actual Trentulas project). Also included are the official guidelines for submitting projects if you are interested in contributing.

grimlock1972
hmm those rules kill alot of possibilities.
G.B. Blackrock
There's never been any indication that the faction logos have been considered text to the best of my knowledge.
bellpeppers
Would HASBRO consider faction logos to be cybertronian text?
bellpeppers
They could have before. Just reload your model and / tag it differently
Trentulas
You rang?
Uploaded and awaiting SFA approval.

See, this what I'm afraid is the real deal behind this move by Hasbro. Are they going to go after 3D print designers such as Fakebuster and Zildjian for infringement rights or copy cat rights over accessory parts already made?
Scaleface
So technically, following these rules, and happen to be a gun collector and Monopoly fan, you could make a Monopoly token that is a Walther p38 with a stock, silencer and scope, that happened to have a 5mm handle, right? It just can't have a Decepticon symbol and can't be in the Transformers store, it has to be in the Monopoly store.
BScorpinok75
Yeah, me neither…
G.B. Blackrock
? Why would one preclude the other?
bellpeppers
Ok, here's a stupid question:
Does that mean Autobot / Decepticon Christmas tree ornaments are out?
G.B. Blackrock
All it takes is for someone to draw it up. (Unfortunately, I don't have the skills)
BScorpinok75
I am…I guess there's still hope for Autobot X…maybe Lord Imperious Delirious and the Destructons – Transformers Wiki…
Scaleface
They probably mean Kre-O/Lego by "building toys". 5mm stuff from Trent was approved, and some of his 3mm stuff that specifically said it was for Cyberverse Terrorcons, but they rejected the 3mm pistol gun that looks like Sixgun in gun mode. Maybe they thought it was an accessory for Kreons? They might have a legal agreement with Oxford that they have exclusivity with the building block Transformers. That would be my guess anyways.
bellpeppers
Anyone else getting less and less excited about this?
LegendAntihero
^I agree
CodeXCDM
…wait… what? That makes little sense… That means 3mm and 5mm weapons would all have to get rejected, as they'd work easily with "building toys" or competitor brands, most of which will have 3-5 mm clips/ports.
Tresob
About 95% of my submissions (and shop) was rejected because the items were described as being compatible with building toy miniature figurines. I didn't remember reading rules against that when I submitted…so either I missed it, or it was a new rule. I suspect it has less to do with protecting their own product than protecting licenses between companies (if I understand correctly, kre-o is outsourced to Oxford; and Paramount probably has dibs on movieverse likenesses).
Three of my micro-cassette figurines were approved though!
I would have submitted my reflector non-transforming legends scale figures and my Robot Heroes Skids, but I didn't make the deadline.
CodeXCDM
I know right? Seems sillier when you consider transformable figures of any scale would be pretty expensive to print out. Fakebusker's Thugger model is some 18 bucks for a Legends-class figure, basically.
One hopes they don't start pulling items that weren't approved… That would suck for folks like Fakebusker who may very well not get designed approved over this whole "no-transforming" nonsense. Would be even worse if they just start nixing all sorts of weapons/items on basis of that one rule… even items that don't necessarily belong to TFs (rather don't have to be for TFs).
The concern is likely reshelling into designs that match licensed car designs. Not saying this as a certainty, but if you make the sort of cheats Hasbro already winds up doing to make their car designs (that is, mishmash elements of two or more cars together).
Shipmeadow
saddles confirmed for pony bdsm
BScorpinok75
Yeah, makes sense thinking about it now…
