United G2 Laser Optimus Prime To Be Reissued

Eh. I think I'll stick with my Hasbro version, despite the United one looking a lot nicer.

After fiddling with this mold at Botcon, I have to say I almost hate this figure. Ever since I saw the United version(and missed out on it), I was really excited for it too.

In all honesty... I felt this way... but only after upgrading the RTS version with the Battle Tanker.

Really... the figure looks BAD on its own...

Not sure about the reissue G2 Prime tho tbh. Sure the paint job's better... but I'm quite fine with RTS Prime (as long as he's got the Tanker attached.)

That, and I'd rather wait for the Scourge repaint... and subsequent Nemesis Tanker repaint.

Still, good news for folks that want the better paint job.

Already preordered. He'll go on display next to my RtS G2 Primes (one stickered and modified, with Battle Tanker, one plain and unmodified), my vintage Laser Optimus, and my Takara reissue G2 Battle Convoy. Unlike others, I love this mold. Planning to get the club exclusive Scourge repaint as well.

Hoping against all hope for a second run of Perceptor.

Thanks for the heads up. I have a love-hate relationship with this mold, but the Takara one looks a whole lot better than the Hasbro RtS version.

Besides the paint, they fixed that awful peg on his right shoulder, I believe, if it affects anyone's opinion at all.

I wish they'd do a new run of WFC Prime.

Why is this mold getting so much attention lately?
I really wasn't very impressed by it.

$40-45 has been typical for popular United figures lately. Less popular ones go fit about $30-35. The price is high, but not abnormally so.

Too bad I hate this mold or I might consider it.

Wish they were re-issuing United WFC Prime instead.

I actually really dislike the mold myself - it's a floppy mess.

Same here...I'm a classics collector and I don't understand why people are falling all over themselves for this mold.

It's pure hot garbage in my opinion. Way too small and the head sculpt is fugly.

It sure looks swell in a Shattered Glass deco.


And $50 for a mold I already have 3 versions of...pass. But 'Yay!' for those who want this.

Yea, it isn't the best United Figure, which is probably why I didn't have it on preorder, but now the completionist in me wants it.

Got my United G2 Prime for $35. While I don't like the mold that much, it looks better hauling the Maketoys Tankor than the RTS one. For $35, I had to have it.

I wasn't aware of his popularity, but I guess it warrants a reissue. I have the RTS version and I'm more than happy with it.

Considering the yen to dollar ratio and that this is a Japanese release which was hard to track down after the initial sell through, no it is not.

Originally wanted this version, but since getting a Battle Tanker, don't really need to.

Having one in Battle Tanker armor has only made me appreciate this mold+deco even more. Off to buy another!

It is because of Battle Tanker that has jacked up the price for this G2 Optimus Prime figure.

He's shorter than WFC Prime, isn't he? I once saw a photo of him that he is really short and than decided I don't want him. Otherwise I would get excited about that news.

I doubt that. G2 "Thunder" Megatron is commanding the same price, despite being common and not very popular. I'm pretty sure the premium is just due to being an imported Optimus.

United G2 OP just ropped in my PoL at BBTS.
