Two short but very cool videos have surfaced via YouTube showing off the magnetic snap on armor and voice box of the highly detailed Ultimetal Optimus Prime. No words will do justice for the sound the metal parts make when snapping onto the Prime body, or the Peter Cullen voice box with several Generation 1 phrases, so check out the videos for yourself and discuss away in the TFW forums!

I have the Battle Damaged version of Prime and the Magnus version. Both are beasts. My absolute favorite piece in my collection is BD Prime. The paint and weathering looks stunning in person. You cannot prepare yourself for how heavy these guys are. I hope they release a BD Megatron.

3 questions I’m hoping somebody here can answer.

Any updates

Where did you get it from, its sold out everywhere. I was gonna get one but its only on the secondary market and I didn't wanna get it because of the potential problems with the electronics and they are supposedly coming out with a battle damaged one

New UM-01 is Faulty
I finally got my UM-01 yesterday. Super excited to un-box it, only to find that the slider switch on the back doesn't slide all the way right to the ON side. Its just stuck in the middle of OFF and ON and nothing works…no lights, no voice no sound. So frustrating!!
Can any one suggest how to fix this? I was thinking to take it apart and see if i can correct it…
Otherwise its an amazing piece of work. Super detailed and heavy. Not all the parts are metal, would of been cooler if all the parts were diecast, but still worth the money all the same. Just wished it worked right out the box.

Finally got mine back from repairs from the factory…took about 5 weeks. The chest lights on the right side were not working…think some have this similar problem.
Took the robot out from the shipping box and the head snapped off from the neck base. Luckily, I just needed to superglue it back. Now everything works as it's supposed to.

the new addition
HotRod76
That makes complete sense and I hope you're right

yeah shhh, I unpacked but with all that packaging, I skimmed the booklet then packed it all up and couldn't remember…

The button presses is shown in the manual. Ultimetal Prime can do high kicks and his leg won't droop down….but I wouldn't recommend trying such a pose for display. Someone also mentioned toe articulation but I haven't given that a try.
Personally, I don't think battle damaged Prime will consist of both normal and battle damaged armor cause the damaged version also has a damaged head. I doubt the heads will be swappable given all the electronics hidden inside. Chest is also damaged and not removable. It'll probably be similar to regular Prime with the removable armor. Now, I'm curious to see how Ultra Magnus' armor works as it appears to go over the Prime armor.

Yeah, I suspect I'm the same. Think I'll struggle with Megs.
Oh boy, thanks Crazee!!! I would have tried forcing it more and more over time.
He pretty much just stands there and I packed the box and everything else all up.
btw, mine came with a missing battery cover for the stand I don't use.

Oh man I hope not, haha. This "may" be my only involvement in this line as the buy in is too much for my blood. I'm praying TJ's theory is not correct about the weathered version possibly containing both normal and battle damaged armor. If that were true, I would forgo this one for that one, but it seems like that would be a VERY expensive piece.
crazee928
DO NOT force it – the knees are double jointed and requires pressing buttons on the inner legs to unlock and bend each joint – the silver hips have a protruding button, and the blue legs have another that's flush with the rest of the leg.
koonfasa
Mine might be mis-transformed, as I can't seem to bend the knees…
So there's Megs, weathered Prime and Magnus being teased…
Think they'll do an Evangelion version, lol.

Despite my slight fog light issue with him, I have no complaints. He IS the centerpiece of my collection. And that is coming from someone who hates transformers that don't transform. Please do yourself a favor, if you have the means and you are on the fence, I would do it. And I don't say that lightly given his price-tag.
koonfasa
Complaints prolly came from those that didn't buy him, and there would be a far greater number of people than those that did. Production numbers would also be much closer to being made to order too.
And BBTS still have 16.

I think the Hot Toys OP is only 12 inches tall? Which if true makes it a bit harder to accept the price difference to a TT or Hasbro MP-10 or even the MP1/4 and those also transform…
It does look very nice however!

Amazing figure and such a fantastic look with the lights.
magnum703
This figure after all the complains about it doesn't transform blah blah blah is now sold out everywhere! I wonder if it'll be the same for the hot toys Optimus prime?
koonfasa
I prefer the little stand, but it would have been way better if it was solid metal.
