Recently in Japan the new wave of Transformers United toys has been released, and TFW2005 Boards member Masabon has been gracious enough to share with us some photos from this new wave, which is marked with a sticker indicating this wave will be in limited quantities. This wave is composed of Windcharger/Wipe-Out, Thunderwing, Warpath, Rodimus Prime, and a G2-styled Megatron (not in gallery).

Why is the middle of rodimus's wing a different color??
PoweredConvoy
He was as a USA Edition.
I'm saying they probably did another version of the Classics Rodimus mold because it was popular, or even more likely they could redeco it as Rodimus Prime and sell it again. I wasn't talking about the molds not yet released in Japan.

IIRC, Energon Sharkticon was never released in Japan.
Stepper
No offence but by releasing molds that are not yet released in Japan for Japan does not mean that the mold is popular, they are just releasing for the sake of releasing, that is all.
PoweredConvoy
Did you miss the part that this is a filler line? Basically just releasing molds not yet released in Japan for Japan. Rodimus and the Sharkticon mold are the only repeats for Japanese collectors here. Plus Takara actually retooled the Rodimus mold just for this release.
Expecting a new mold Rodimus Prime for this line (especially after making the Masterpiece last year) is really unrealistic.

Gonna have to get that rodimus

If the mold is really that popular in Japan, Takaratomy could have design a new mold with Hot Rod having trailer instead of this United Rodimus Prime
PoweredConvoy
The United line didn't have many villains, so I'm not surprised they skipped him the first time through.
It's a filler line, so they redecoed him to evoke Rodimus Prime. The mold must be pretty popular in Japan (they've released it more times than Hasbro has).
It's basically a way to pad out the line with figures that were not yet released in Japan with a very nice redeco.

i love Hot Rod though but i still don't see the reason why they want to issue this Rodimus with such colour scheme, make no sense
LegendAntihero
It's odd seeing how Thunderwing didn't get released in the United line until now.
PoweredConvoy
Mine is super tight. I love it.

Left arm problem?
Anguirus
^ I like it! Which is could, cause it's in my PoL.
I love how I have a Hot Rod in Rodimus colors to go with my Rodimus in Hot Rod colors, lol. Oh, and I have BiS Hot Rod…meh.
Say, does this Rodimus have the "left arm problem"?
turboedguy
S I got mine today, I actually don't hat it as much in person as I did in the pics. Don't get me wrong, I still think the shades of red was a mistake, but it does have some cartoon charm to it, with the flames and yellow wing.
SouthtownKid
And how many repaints has United/WFC Soundwave had so far? One? As opposed to about NINE for Rodimus?
Well, that's why.
PikaManiac
I find it funny that people have trouble justifying whether to buy Rodimus Prime when most wouldn't bat an eye lid if it was say… a Soundwave repaint into Soundblaster. I know it is the same mold and the colours are similar to the original, but this repaint is meant to be Rodimus Prime and not Hot Rodimus. That should be enought justification.
As for me, I am just going to tell myself G1 Rodimus Prime is a different mold and shouldn't be a repaint of Hot Rodimus and save some money. Though seriously, would it kill them to package Rodimus Prime with a Minicon when they are giving them out for free at stores all the time?

I received my United Warpath, Thunderwing, and Windcharger/Wipe Out 2 pk set. I love these versions way better. Windcharger is basically the same but with tampoed symbol, Warpath is a much more anime accurate shade of red, and Thunderwing has his color layout from Stormbringer to the t. Looks much more menacing….. Maybe it's my luck and all, but every single Takaratomy version I have of these molds the joints and swivels all dem a lot more snug and smooth bermudas the hasbro versions.

Still can't accept the stupid different shade for this United Rodimus
SouthtownKid
Okay, my mistake. Looking at some of the comparison shots, it looked (to me) like the opening of RP's hand was smaller than Rodimus'. But if not, good news.
Anguirus
^ Huh? That mold has always had a 4mm hole. In fact, I'm surprised he can hold Smolder!
And IN FACT both Sidearm and the MasterShooters are designed to be held by this Rodimus anyway. They can be held by 4mm and 5mm holes.
