Transformers United ends with Wave 4

UN22-Optimus-Robot-1
Sad news, friends. According to Snakas, the latest issue of Kero Kero Ace in Japan reports that Transformers United as a series will end in March, with Wave 4 and the E-Hobby Exclusive three-packs. UN-22, Laser Optimus Prime, will be the final release in the line.

There is currently no word on what Takara-Tomy will be releasing in April, but May will see the Japanese launch of the Transformers Dark of the Moon line, which by all indications will feature some alternate decos and different accessories than its US version.

Assuming that information is accurate: god damn it.

but it just started.....

Odd, since they didn't do Thunderwing or Skullgrin to my knowledge, did they? You'd think that they'd do them, as well as Warpath, Sunstorm and the as yet unseen Reflector, and other retools.

I hate the fact that the Classics/Generations line gets put on hold for the movie...that drives me nuts!

Yeah Transformers dont seem to be able to mantain 2 lines in Japan, but I forse Dark of the moon lasting awhile in japan. Revenge went on forever over there! If Hasbro is serious about continuing Generation s through the movie than id bet that the next "United" line will run as we are getting prime toys and will be playing catch up.
Sammael
I'm sure it'll return near the end of the year.
Rotorstorm
it or an alternative will show soon enough. Remember Japan only got the classics moulds when we were getting universe 2.0.

Because I am PRETTY SURE their movie lines went on just as long as Hasbro's, with their own retailer-exclusive redecos and offbeat Movie-based merchandising. Hell, TakTom have even dedicated a subset of Movie "Masterpiece" redecos of leader class figures.
Cal
Too soon, too soon. They should at least put out Warpath and Reflector before moving on. I also hope this doesn't mean that United prices will skyrocket the same way the Henkei ones did.

The Hitch-Hiker's Guide To The Galaxy has two very important words to say on the subject: don't panic.

Just a hunch, but I'm pretty sure that Henkei/United/whatever the hell they call it next will be back once all of this movie malarkey is out of the way.
[Wing_Saber-X]
stupid movie marketing strategies. Sigh.

^ This We'll return to speak about united but also encore in october and over

I just hope that Hasbro does continue to run the series at full strength during the movie, there are still a lot of great re-tools coming up, and hopefully they will roll the Prime stuff (though I am not planning on getting it) into the line. A break will actually be nice since I cannot afford all of the United figs I want right now, and it will give me a chance to catch up a little before the next round hits. I am still playing a little catchup with Henkei which is hurting a bit.

I won't really be all that sad to see the end of their half finished shiny paint jobs. Bring back the line when they figure out how to make a toy look complete.
SharkyMcShark
Excellent. Bring on the DotM stuff.
Johnator
Well this sucks.

Sad day
Acteon
*Sigh* Well at least we got United Jazz and a few other cracking entries out of it.

On the plus side, it makes it feel like less of a compromise to buy the cheaper Hasbro line now I suppose.
Grimwing
Makes Total Sense. Though it felt like United just launched.

All your Generations esq things will return again someday. Black Shadow, Reflector, and sunstorm easily set up, for 2012.
shroobmaster
All hail Bay!

Kinda figured it would. Not that surprised by this really, as the cost of painting all these releases with metallic paint on top of the already correctly colored plastic probably didn't match up to the sales they had planned. IMO, they probably should have tried to release Skullgrin/Dauros instead of the basically (mostly) unknown Straxus first. Again, my opinion on the matter.

And yeah, it'll probably be back after and/or mixed in with DotM later in the year with all the other figures and retools Hasbro will release in the meantime.

Goodbye $30+ deluxes and the disdain you brought upon Hasbro's 'inferior' $10+ versions.
Sepultron
Classics ended and returned as Universe.

Universe ended and returned as Generations.

Henkei ended and returned as United.

Odds are that the line will be refreshed and return towards the end of this year or the beginning of next year.

My only real concern is the possibility that TakTom looked at what Hasbro wanted to do for the rest of the line to carry it "through 2011" and wasn't too impressed, meaning no all-new molds (aside from Warpath) or basically just filler composed of repaints or slightly retooled toys. As cool as the potential for Black Shadow and Reflector may be, if we're not getting anything but repaints I for one will be very disappointed. Just saying that TakTom may have felt the same way.

Well, all good things must come to an end. Guess I'll buy a few more then.
wrecker
well at least my wallet can breath now....
[Wing_Saber-X]
That settles it. >:/
Ill be buying ALL the United releases starting from the Wave with shiny Kup! (Wave No.3)
Jlogano20
crap what about warpath and thunderwing
skullgrin makes since just being a random repaint but come on
anubis20
And here I was hoping that they would release a united rodimus in a non-BIS paint scheme
Railguard
Is it the last line period or just the last for the year cause of the movie release and the prime release later this year...it would suck if its the last release period.
WhiteMocha
But what are the metallic paint vendors in China going to do to stay in business?!?
PoweredConvoy
I knew this would happen, but I'm sad to see it go.

Hopefully they'll do some exclusives or something besides what's going to be released. I wonder what will happen to Warpath, Thunderwing, and Windcharger though.

They end it because of the the new DOTM toys coming out.Just like they did in Animated.Sucks coz I don't like toys from the movie.Love it coz my wallet is safe right now.
MACRAPTRON
Well they'll eventually come back under a new stupid brand name like TF Porcupine or TF Miscellaneous. I just want to see Traibreaker, Hoist and Skids.

They will probably use that paint on their DOTM stuff.

Oh well......as long as Generations continues, I'm chuffed.
Shin-Gouki
Then sadly Generations/RTS is likely to end too. So I will have nothing to buy TF wise for the rest of the year.
Chris McFeely
I'm a touch perplexed as to why people are *surprised* at this, when there are only like three figures they haven't released and/or solicited. I mean... what did you THINK was going to happen?
mugen_prime
This is the worst news of the year! This is one of many reasons why I don't care much for the movies.

I guess they could have either just put the line on hiatus like Henkei did for a bit or could have started on those repaints/retools we've seen in the instructions.
Malach Ra
I'm gonna go kick a kitten.

Some of the comments here are just sad. "Boo to the movie line"? Really?

Same here.

Especially when the last few waves might be either not come to stores or get canned.

Then, we have to wait for a looong time for the line to return due to movie toys clogging the shelves.
Skalez Convoy
If you think about it, it does make sense...
During the release of the Universe line we did not see Red Alert get released in the U.S. We did however get him when Generations started up. I'm sure those three will be the first thing released when the line starts up again.
Looking at history however Hasbro doesn't run more than two main lines at a time. So with the Prime toys coming out in March with the continued Movie line... ta-da there is our answer... so when the cartoon line dies we will see our next incarnation of classics/universe/generations. To be honest my wallet needs a rest, poor thing has had two bypasses this winter. And I still have to get the last wave of Generations and RTS for my Classics collection... Then cry when I see how much FP wants for those not-insecticons, and after all that build a Junkion army.
I feel woozy...
