An email has just gone out minutes ago to customers who have ordered the Transformers Japanese Collection DVD set from the Shout Factory website. This fix is in regards to subtitling errors in a few episodes in the set (though no specific errors were cited). The replacement discs will be sent out automatically to those who have purchased from Shout Factory, no special requests need to be made. The entire message from Shout Factory is as follows:
A few of you have written in to us about errors in the subtitling on a couple episodes in your Transformers Japanese Collection set. We are moving quickly to fix those errors and manufacture two replacement discs for your set and will ship them to you in about two weeks. They will ship automatically to anyone who has purchased the set from ShoutFactory — you do not have to make any special requests or respond to this email. In the event you’re planning future purchases for friends or recommending the title, please know that our entire inventory in the warehouse and all future runs are also being corrected simultaneously. So those that have not yet purchased need not fret, the warehouse inventory will be updated accordingly. Those of you who already have the set in your possession let us know what subtitling fixes are needed in our forums! Also make sure to let us know when your replacement discs arrive!

I checked out the episodes in question on disc #4 of Masterforce and disc #3 of Victory and Shout definitely fixed those episodes. But I haven't watched the entire discs. Like I said above, I haven't even gotten through Headmasters yet. Hopefully, someone with way more time on their hands than I currently have can verify that the entire discs are OK.

I hope someone goes through these replacement disc episodes soon, because these are no doubt the ones that will be shipping in the single series release sets, and it would be nice to know everything is fixed right and no new problems have cropped up.

I got my discs as well. My life is so busy that I haven't even gotten halfway through Headmasters yet. Though I have seen all of these episode many years ago.

They were at BC last year, and are at all the larger Cons (SDCC NYCC etc…) I'm sure they will be at BC again this year especially since they have TF: Prime season 1 coming out in spring, and who knows what by summer?? I do know last year they had the Headmasters set and Beast wars complte series avialable to prhcxase at the Con , which was a bout a month before they were even available on Shout! slect site. If I wasn't holding out for ther complete Takara collection, I would have picked up HM right away at the con.
SouthtownKid
I've seen Zone, and honestly, I don't think it's worth any of that effort.

Any ideas if Shout Factory will be at Botcon? I'd like to pick up a set at Botcon

I caved and got this, as much as I like the bad dubbing in English, I'd like to lay in bed and watch these at times without sitting on my computer running the region-blocking program I use, LOL.
Just hoping we eventually see "Beast Wars II" and "Beast Wars Neo" on DVD, so I can then have them all.

About 11-12 years ago, a guy made a pretty good quality fansubbed VCD that contained Scramble City and Zone. The same guy also made decent VCD’s of the Headmasters series by splicing the video from the laser discs and the English dub audio from the Star TV VHS bootleg copies. Someone made an unofficial DVD, pressed (not DVDR) with a cover and everything, containing Scramble City and Zone using the VCD as the source. It actually looks a hair better than the VCD. So it looks far better than VHS but not quite full DVD quality. It's still very watchable and about the only way to view those episodes on R1 NTSC DVD.

I've yet to find a decent quality copy of zone. I guess I should have been more clear. Zone, more special features maybe even a HD option even though it's so old. Just those things would interest me enough to think about purchasing. But until that happens I'm happy with the fan subs.
SouthtownKid
So you don't want to buy the set because you can find it fansubbed, but you might have felt differently if they had included the ONE EPISODE of Zone, which can also be easily found fansubbed? I have to tell you I find that difficult to believe.
matrixprime
I personally disnt feel it detracted from the experience and I can already stream them to my tv so I see no point in buying them. Now if it included Zone maybe. Shout Factory call me when you do BWII or BWNEO

i wish they could get the original cast to dub the audio

I bought Headmasters already and don't want to drop another $80 or $90 on the entire set. So I echo the hopes of this coming to Amazon with the corrected subtitles.

I'll admit that this got annoying for certain random words where they could have just given us a close equivalent and left it at that. But I will say that it did help in defining and differentiating the different types of energy.

I got my email, and I'm looking forward for the replacement discs.

Awesome. I was waiting on purchasing this till this was fixed. But I still have hope that this will be on Amazon since I bought Headmasters already.
