I think those Autobot symbols on his shoulders are the best representation of lights I've seen yet.
It's far, far better than the "pink = red light" of the WfC Hasbro toy.

I was going to get this, I even had it preordered at one point. But I've been gradually realizing I just don't like the base mold very much (I have the US version).

This is nice though. It's always possible I'll end up ordering him.

When ever they decide to make War Within/MTMTE molds I'll buy, these are just crap in my opinion

Wow this looks SO much better with decent colors. Would it kill Hasbro to put out figures that are colored in a way that takes advantage of the figures's potential much more? Someone does a good job designing them only so they can be mass produced looking cheap and costing more for us in USA. Shame...

It looks nice, although I have a Hasbro version on the way to me (because spoiler: it's way cheaper). I have Jazz and Shockwave though, and, especially with Jazz, I've noticed that the plastic is indeed cheaper on the FoC figures. I'd like to know if the plastic quality is higher on the TakaraTomy version, or if the extra cost is just all paint job. The latter is quite possible. A similar example would be Henkei Prowl - I bought the Henkei version because I preferred it, but it still had the sticky paint problem that the Hasbro version had, so there's evidence that quality control problems and overall quality may not necessarily be higher on a TakaraTomy release, just that the paint job is much better.

I would still love a Voyager-sized Optimus Prime and Megatron for WfC/FoC. It seems odd to me that they would make Grimlock and, of all things, Soundwave, as Voyagers, but not Megatron and Optimus. Grimlock I can understand, and I'm glad Soundwave got a Voyager, but you would think the priority would be on the leaders.

To me this is like painting a piece of poop with gold paint. Still don't like the mold and paying even more for it is dumb. Pass.

The metallic red really does work for Prime here,since it makes him look more like his in-game counterpart.

They already did make War Within figures and tbh they all looked pretty meh to terrible, although Megatron was especially bad looking. I much, much prefer the WFC/FOC designs.

As for MTME (and RID), characters that have a WFC/FOC counterpart usually have those bodies, so in some ways these are MTME/RID designs too.

Not really fair to the War Within figures, considering they were all Titanium figures, which were mostly lackluster.

I'd love to see a regular line of the series, but that's definitely never happening, since most people seem to want to forget about Dreamwave for whatever reason. I mean, I get that Pat Lee pretty much took a giant shit on everyone in the end, but what they had going on in their series - especially the G1 series - was outstanding. I've recently begun reading all of the IDW stuff, and I just finished 'International Incident'. With the exception of a few issues here and there, and the All Hail Megatron arc, nothing in IDW can hold a candle to Dreamwave. The beginning of their run (Infiltration, Escalation, Devastation, etc.) was far too convoluted for its own good...

But, alas, I went off on a rant there...back to the topic at hand.

Lastly, I really like the FoC Optimus mold...I know it's small, but that's a piss-poor reason to called the figure crap. The mold itself is terrific.

Actually you haven't read MTMTE and RID apparently they are the best things ever made.

No, I haven't quite reached that yet, but I -am- quite stoked for it, as I hear good things.

Still, I doubt it's potential awesomeness will do much to fill the hole I've had ever since the Dreamwave continuity so abruptly ended, right when things were about to get epic...

The size is one of the main things that bothers me about it. I saw it in person and it just looked ridiculous. Even putting him with other FOC figures he looks out of place because he's shorter than them, yet he's supposed to be one of the bigger characters. WFC Optimus does a much better job filling in with FOC/WFC, I think.
