For those wanting to procure a set of the new Transformers Cloud exclusives, you might be interested to know that the Transformers Collectors Club has listed preorders for both of these new Takara-Tomy Mall / E-Hobby exclusives. Both Optimus Prime and Megatron are up for preorder priced $89.

say a few said they don't have a Classics Optimus. Take a trip to a flea market if there's one your area – you might be surprised by what you find (speaking from experience )

Hmm, is Transformers Cloud a new show that's coming out? The grey/silver repaint works good on Megatron.

Was almost about to pull the trigger on this because I don't own the classics prime. Looked at it some more and was a little underwhelmed and the price is so steep! Since I don't the masterpiece prime, decided to go with the MP-10B instead of these two. I think I'll get more value out of that! Heck, even after the nemesis prime, I think I'll pick up the year of the horse masterpiece before I fork out that much cash for these two!

Hasbro has nothing to do with these. These are Takara exclusives. So limited run imports. The limited run and import make them more expensive. TFCC is getting them without Hasbro's direct involvement due to their partnership with Ehobby.
~$90 for an imported, limited run exclusive voyager is pretty par for the course… whatever the cost/profit breakdown is.
But yes, with that 'par', I'm not going to be playing the course except for something that I'm much, much more interested in than these.

Nice figs but it only cost hasbro about $8.87 ( give or take $.20 due to currency conversion) to make this prime. I understand hasbro needs profit from tfcc and tfcc needs profit from fans but dude how much of a mark up is good enough? I mean the reissue fort max even with having to make new metal cast for radar dish etc was only $37 (give or take $3) and it's retail was $379.99 that is ridiculous IMO.

Methinks the club will have a rather small number of Cloud figures to sell through. Not 2000 each.

I really want that Optimus as a G2 Prime (the black windvane doubles as the sound effects box!), but I don't think I can spend $90. I have a feeling he will go on sale somewhere, at some point, so I'll hold out.
Still threw down a pre-order at BBTS for now in case he suddenly becomes crazy-rare prior to release.
Megatron does nothing for me. He could pull off that more skeletal look as G2 (GDO) Megatron, but this doesn't work for me.
QmTablit
Yeah, I kind of wanted another Optimus when this was announced, but I'd really be saving money just buying another Henkei Convoy.
Might still pick it up if my local import shop gets these in (which he might not, as there's little interest it seems).

Want.

How far down will the price go when they don't sell through? Astrotrain & Airrazor will have company methinks.

That is a valid observation.

Even so, the fact that those toys were made by Hasbro and not Takara would be an important point.
NomadVagabond
That is not necessarily a given. There were a few "Special Edition" Universe toys a few years back – Optimus Prime, Megatron, Drag Strip, and Overkill – which were originally intended to be non-Japanese Asian exclusives but were later sold via the Hasbro Toy Shop site and also wound up at Marshalls/TJ Maxx stores.

This is more or less standard for TCC pre-orders. You can order anything that's coming as part of that same wave (note: you don't HAVE to order both toys. You can order just one if you want), but they don't want to keep anything in storage for any period of time, so they won't let you add to the pre-order with anything already in their inventory (that they'd have to store with your name on it until the pre-order items come) or from any other pre-order block (meaning they'd have to store either this pre-order or that one, whichever comes before the other).
While this is a reality of TCC that I do think they definitely need to change (lest they lose even more business to the likes of BBTS and their "Pile of Loot"), it's nothing new.

ZOMG! JaPaN TransFORMERS!!! Weird paint! MUST HAVE!! Drooldrooldrool!
it's this. it's just this.
PoweredConvoy
$89 is better than the $99 most other places are offering.
Yup, Megatron looks to have loads of paint on him.
Optimus does too. Getting his legs and waist white requires paint, his grill is chromed, he has blue shin vents (that's more paint). His wind vane might be painted black too as it might be gang molded to other red parts.
Japanese imports do not show up at US retailers.

Hopefully they will be at Ross or TJ Maxx in a few months for 15 bucks.
