Takara-Tomy’s Hisashi Yuki has tweeted an image of the Transformers Adventure version of Robots in Disguise Drift. The Japanese retail version of the Autobot bounty hunter features additional paint apps including black on his mecha-facial hair! Check out the image attached to this story.

Dammit. Sorry to resurrect a zombie thread, but goddamn I finally broke down and got TAV 18 Drift. Sigh.

Its missing a red cod piece. Other than that it looks awesomely accurate. Needs some 3rd party swords thou…

Looks pretty show accurate there… nice!

Hmmm, I actually prefer the darker orange on the U.S. version, but the rest of the detailing just puts it too utter shame…

Wowza new pics from Yuki san are gorgeous.

I'm still quite happy with the first Drift… frankly, I'd love to see both this Drift, and the Movieverse one repainted into other characters… Bludgeon and/or Banzaitron anyone?

He does look great. Not sure it's quiiiite worth replacing my Hasbro version with him (especially since we're past the window to order him cheaply through the usual Japanese sites)… but he does look great.

It's such a shame that the recent Hasbro figures have been lacking in paint, this is a great example but even TAV Strongarm showed that a few subtle differences in paint apps can go a long, long way to improving a figure.

I had preordered this for whatever reason and I was unsure why, but you just justified owning him for me. Great realization!

They still might, look at the repaint of Strongarm.

Was kinda hoping Takara would give him a neat redeco as a new character.

See what a little bit of paint apps can do….it goes a long way.
You Know…That'd actually work well.

I'm only quoting you guys because I get very scared if Hasbro does add more paint apps. My reasoning is that the more paint that Hasbro adds, the higher % chance of paint f**k-ups. I cringe every time that I see more paint. I don't know how many Hasbro figures I poured through just to find the one with the least painted errors. I knew for more than a couple I had to search through over 15 stores and upwards of over 100 toys, over weeks of searching, just to find one that has the least paint mistakes.
This is why I buy mostly Takara, because their QC is top notch. Does that mean that Takara aren't immune to paint errors? No, because out of all of Takara's I own, there's only a tiny few that does, and that is proof of their QC.
Dude, I love you! That is clearly Samurai Wreck-Gar in those colors right there!
This is another Takara RID toy I need to own! Damn-it Takara! I don't like the RID toy line as a whole, but the awesome paint apps is what's making me buy them! Stop it! I already need to buy Strongarm and Fixit. Grimlock is a no because, thank god, he's too small, despite his awesome paint apps. And I'm trying to stay away from the Decepticons, because that's a too steep of a slippery slope for me.

Drift? Pfft.
That right there is Samurai Wreck-Gar.

I'm trying to resist, but I'm going to end up with this. The paintwork adds a lot to this mold.
