Takara Tomy has updated their Transformers website with details of "TransformART", billed as the first-ever Transformers themed modern art exhibition. Held at Art Centre Ongoing, a gallery in the Tokyo suburb Kisshoji, the show will feature art from up-and-coming artists who grew up with the Robots in Disguise, as well as original toy art, concept sketches and many Transformers toys, courtesy of Takara Tomy. The exhibition runs now through the end of August!

frenzyrumble

dilectus
this is absolutely infuriating, considering i JUST got home from Tokyo. Ugh....
Deadend
That sounds hot. I'm speechless. *Glares at Hasbro.*

Goddamit, I woulda loved to have seen this.

Better than that one idiot who smashes 'em up and mixes the pieces around. What a jackass.

I KNOW WHO YOU ARE, SCOTT CAMPBELL.
Bumble Prime
yeah that guy making sculptures out of junker scorponoks was a joke....

This seems much more promising
aussiehippy
I would so go and see this if it wasn't 5852 miles away.
rizuan76

Railguard

Not based on the pictures they have up. An upside down couch in front of a TV playing episodes of Transformers? Yikes.

Folks seem to forget that "modern" and "art" put in the same sentence means, pretty much, "crap."
shibamura_prime
This would be amazing to see.

Hardcore. They will throw some great shows.

I can't believe I've never seen multiple Transformers set up in a transformation sequence like those Starscreams.

Someone needs to ask for an official statement of the status of the molds they have access to, whats lost/workable etc.

Ask who? The artists? How is this relevant?

Also, anyone complaining that this kind of thing doesn't happen in their area should do something about it. Art exhibitions don't just 'happen', their proposed. rather than just showing artwork online, you can get together and put on a show. Propose it to Hasbro, they might go with it. It's a good idea.

Simply complaining about the lucky Japanese isn't going to make it happen.

Boy, I was kind of hoping for original art interpretations, not bunches of statically posed figures along with pieces using mangled Transformer bodies to create ugly art that has nothing to do with Transformers.

Color me disappointed. Then again, I usually find that for every one piece of modern art that actually I like there are ten I find horrendously boring, stupid, or hideous...often all three.

Awesome!! That will be a true gift for fans.
RodimusZero
going.

hehehe, I assume everybody here expected it to be something like comic book type art, but its 'highbrow' modern art.

Too bad Bay and company perpetuated to the Japanese press the myth that Transformers was a Japanese series brought to the US when they promoted the movie in Japan last year. Now it looks like even TakaraTomy is buying it - not a mention of Hasbro

I wasn't referring to the artists, & I think its not everyday you can have a panel with the toy designers & higher ups.
