TFW Tokyo Toy Show Exclusive Transformers Prime Shining Optimus Prime Gallery

TFP-Shining-Optimus-Prime-46
Here now for your enjoyment courtesy of SydneyY is a gallery of the second of the two Tokyo Toy Show 2012 exclusive Transformers! Shining Optimus Prime is a crystal version of my personal favorite toy of 2011, the Voyager Class First Edition Optimus Prime from Transformers Prime. This crystal version manages to look even more impressive, thanks to the glow that the translucent plastic gives the toy when light hits it. Don't just take my word for it, check out the gallery and see for yourself:

Sweet!
SydneyY
I'm sure he is sweet. Haven't tried licking him yet though, very tempting.
(I'm not kidding....clear TFs look very edible )
ahro23
Can't wait
TFPrime
Such a glorious figure right there..they couldn't have made the FE Prime any more perfect!

Looks great and in the review thread, it was mentioned that the blade whilst transparent is made out of harder rubber.
Liege Prime
He looks great! Quick quesion- are his ankle joints tighter then the standard release? All the poses you have keep his feet in the standard position.
moreprimeland
Optimus does look yummy!! This version looks even tastier.

Just kidding..but this is a beautiful version of him...and he's shipping his way to my house as I type.

Thanks Syd for all the great shots!!
opt1musaber
So how does the plastic feel?
SydneyY
mpl- Glad you saw the gallery. So I don't have to stick more pics on your wall

opt1musaber - plastic feels very good. Not brittle at all in my opinion.

Smokestacks are rubbery plastic as well. I am very grateful of that, because while they don't look as sharp, I don't have to worry about breaking them

They feel about the same Only issue I have with this clear version is his legs don't stay on (front and shin parts) together very well. I move the legs and the shins detach almost every time.

^nice! great to know that the clear plastic used is pretty sturdy.. gives me piece of mind too.

Hmm, wonder why is that?

That pretty much happens with the standard version to.

I'm surprised there's still some available for preorder.
SydneyY
^Does it? then I must have been lucky, as my original FE Prime doesn't have that problem at all

I hope he sells as well as United black Optimus. I love them both a lot.

yeah, thought so too!
design flaw I guess... but not too nit-picky an issue for me.
SydneyY
The problem I have with both of my FE Prime is the feet don't sit straight on the cab roof in vehicle mode. I fixed the head of the original FE, and Shining FE didn't have that issue - and there's still a gap

It does when I try to swivel the feet left to right because the screw makes that joint really tight. I've heard some others having that issue in the FE Prime review thread as well. The other common problem is the head not being attached at the right spot on the ball joint.

Maybe I should have clarified. ”Available for a normal voyager price” I can't bring myself to to drop 50 bucks on a voyager.

Exclusives to be expected. Guess I still think the normal FE should have been available for more than 5 minutes

Beautiful pictures!

Still waiting for the boys to come come back from the show.

What's so awesome about a less-accurate... mold of sorts?

Optimus isn't tranparent.

If 8k of these were made, it's not as exclusive as we think. I like to think it's just a limited edition. The term 'exclusive' makes it very confusing for buyers who think that because of this numbers will be very low, while some figures are, quite a few are not. I just think if they use a specific word it should have merit, like for it to be an "exclusive", there would be 1k or less of them produced. Anything more and it should be limited editions. I'm not saying that they have to do this, but it would really help out people on just how exclusive something is.

this post is so QFT.
Automorpher
Because the Makers reckoned that by inputting the word "Exclusive", stuffs get moved faster off shelves/online.

So everything's "exclusive" these days...
Stepper
If TakTomy think the stuff will move faster in this way, they are so wrong!
Sol Fury
Strictly speaking, exclusive derives from exclusion, as in "to exclude from somewhere" so an item which is only available from specified outlets is always going to be called an exclusive. To call something "limited edition" is misleading because normally when you refer to something as limited edition there is an assumption of a low run.

See for example the 1701 series of Star Trek figures which were limited to 1701 / 3000 pieces, but to the best of my knowledge were not store exclusives (compared to in the same year of release, other larger production run items only available at one outlet)

Granted, the term "exclusive" is abused to make things sound harder to get than they really are, but the root is sound - it is a designation of restricted availability and not supposed to be about the numbers.
Stepper
Yes,we can assume that "Limited edition" is an assumption of a low run but on the other hand if we are talking "exclusive "which is something which is available only from specified outlets only, isn't that as good as having similar meaning as "Limited edition",correct me if i am wrong.
dtjattan
I got mine in the mail yesterday and I must say I am glad I bought it!! It looks cool but I am also partial to the clear TFs.

Not really. You can have an exclusive that remains in continuous production, i.e. the Star Tours ride exclusive figures. Or how about the Marvel Legends Wal-Mart exclusive wave from a few years back? IIRC it had a similar production run as a regular Marvel Legends assortment but was only available through Wal-Mart stores.

The line has blurred because they have been misused, but they mean different things. Exclusive = restricted availability to only select outlets but no cap on the production run, Limited Edition = set run of pieces, once they are gone they are gone.

I agree the lines have been very blurred. Exclusives can be as limited as a 'limited edition' or as widespread as a regular release. That is why I suggested they use it 'correctly' in correspondence with how many are produced.
Liege Prime
The one I preordered actually came in at BBTS already.

Got both of the exclusives last night and HOLY DAMN are they sexy!

This is my only TFPrime figure atm. I tend to only buy what I like and I think this is a nice mould. Not only that he is $100 shipped making him way cheaper than the normal FE Prime...Anyway, it's not like he's going to run out soon, they've made sure of that this time. I'll probably get another one when I have the spare cash, not 3 or 4 if that's what yr thinking

I actually find it a bit funny that he's costing less in some cases than the original Hasbro FE Prime, and even more so than the Takara version. I wonder what the production run on the initial Hasbro and Takara FEs were.

I would like to know the numbers for Takara FE Prime too. Not even one year after release and he is so scarce, that when he does come up he is no less than 150-200 at the very least...Excluding shipping too...

To think Takara usually excels at re-issuing in demand products. I'm still holding out for an eventual second release, once I do get one, I'm kissing my Hasbro FE Optimus Prime goodbye, Bulkhead too if I can get him. The Takara colors are just so much better.

I'm really hoping that Takara does a 2nd run or Hasbro eventually puts these out as I have none of the FEs...excluding Tokyo Toy Show 'Shining' Optimus which I just got today.
Stepper
Yah man, since Hasbro can do a rerun on Arcee,CJ,Bulkhead, why not FOptimus Prime.
