CALLLLLSONNNNNIIIIIIIIIICCCCCCCCCC GT-R!!!!!!!!!! A decade and a half of being a PlayStation Gran Turismo and Super GT freak, nearly 30 years of being a TF freak, this is just going to shatter my wallet next year because there's no bloody way I'll be able to resist. I was happy to ignore this initiative if they just stuck to the Motul Autech GT-R, but the Calsonic tears it…
Is it too much to hope for a Raybrig or Takata Dome Honda NSX-R, a Petronas Lexus….a YellowHat-sponsored Sunstreaker…..
EDIT: I have never owned the Alternity toys, but from what I see, the hood of the car transforms in a way that the central part of the splitter/grill isn't there in robot mode as the chest…so would the "MOTUL" across the Convoy's hood become…"MOUL" ?
All the best

np, dude. s' cool

I REALLY want this Super-GT line to be the return of Kiss Players. Don't ask me why. I don't know why. But I want it to happen. I also want those figures. I missed out on Alternity and can't be bothered spending the money to get Optimus and Megatron now, so I definitely have to get that Super-GT Optimus Prime. It looks great.
By the way, RIBFIR. That's my preference, at least. Then again, I watched G1 but didn't read the Marvel comics.
Superquad7
I'm really liking those discs.
Those Skylines need to be 1:24 though.

I hear you, but in Japan, that's just the way it is. It's hard to look at them as the way the are abroad, I'm sure, but if you were able to walk down the isles of toy stores in Japan, you'd see how reasonable/normal the price is compared to comparable toys on the shelves.
Things cost more in Japan, that's just the way it is. Won't these be available in the States and elsewhere? I don't recall seeing any info saying this is a Takara exclusive, so if it isn't and you don't like the prices you see, wait it out …but if you like the paint apps you're seeing, well, you'll have to bite the bullet.

Sorry, I don't know very much about the Japanese cartoons. My mistake.
[Wing_Saber-X]
First off it's Star Saber (character) and his sword did not have an official name of its own. It was the 'Saber Blade' or summin like that. Get your facts right, man.

Nope!

wow, i cant beleive that after all these years there are peeps that still argue this point. WHO CARES which one is frenzy or rumble? why cant we just buy the toys and not worry about who calls who what? if'ns u wanna call them whoever when u get them in hand, then thats ur way. no need to argue. we r a community of fans and seems like everybody wants to argue or fight over piddly stuff like this. geez!
Dolza_Khyron
woohoo! more kissplayers!
orangeitis
That's what I'm doing too, but only for Fremble. Characters like Slag and Spastic will always have their original names to me.
Autovolt 127
I stopped caring who's who. I only go with whatever Hasbro doing right now.
orangeitis
Oh, okay then. I forgot about them for some reason.

Unless you count Prime Rumble and the just released FoC figures then Hasbro has stuck to RIRFIB up until now. The RtS toy was going to be FIRRIB but he was canceled. Every other toy of them has been RIRFIB and that still holds true for the G1 interpretations as everything thus far has been Prime / Aligned (though I imagine that will change if they ever release the Masterpiece figures).
I do wonder if they ever released the reissues how they'd name them.

Frenzy & Rumble had the same power, voice, and personality on the show (the voice actors were different on the Japanese show though). So it didn't matter that Frenzy was causing rumbles as Rumble did too (regardless of what they were named).
Because for almost everything except the old cartoon they're still named the same as what Takara has been calling them. Even the recent change where Frenzy is red and Rumble is blue only has thus far applied to the Prime / Aligned versions as the RtS Rumble (who was blue) was never released.
Alternator Rumble and Robot Hero Rumble (RH Rumble came out just a couple years ago) were colored as the red guy.
That may be true, but for as many people who associate Frenzy & Rumble with the cartoon. There are just as many who associate them with the toy and original comic books (and a lot of the newer comics and toys).
The 2007, 2009, and 2011 films have changed things around. So starting with those lines and Animated they switched to the Hasbro names. The only exception thus far has been Ricochet and Stepper.
It's kind of surprising that Hasbro is going with the cartoon names since they usually stick to the toy interpretations with most of their colorations (but this might be an exception).
Any way, not sure why we're even discussing this at this point. Takara isn't going to change but Hasbro has as of recent.

We know there has been FIRRIB Hasbro toys released since 2010, but what confirmation do we have that Hasbro in general has been FIBRIR till 2010? Comics? Other merchandise/fictions?
Soundwinder
Because Rumble/Frenzy IS confusing, and there's no reason for them to change at all. Hell, we can't even decide on Rumble/Frenzy. Takara, at least, has been very consistent. Movie + Prime Optimus = Optimus, all else Convoy. Red guy is Rumble, blue guy is Frenzy.
… and we know it's recently because… it's happened recently. Hasbro was very consistent about Rumble being red from 1984-2010 or so. That… qualifies are recent, I think.
They just swapped the names so that the animation matched the toys.
orangeitis
They have also always called him 'Convoy", rather than 'Optimus Prime' too. They're calling him the latter because these are Hasbro characters. But then they decide not to call Fremble by their domestic names…
How can we know that it's 'recently'? Just because they've resumed making Fremble toys?
Honestly, I don't think it's because of 'an animation mistake', it's probably because FIRRIB is more recognizable to western fans due to an animation error in the G1 cartoon.
Yes it might be to avoid confusion. But(at least IMO) I'd think that calling a character they've known to be Convoy/'Konboi' since before the franchise was even called Transformers now 'Oputimasu Puraimu' would be almost as confusing.
Macross7
So here is the question. If Japan always had Frenzy-Blue & Rumble-Red, how did they name them in the cartoon? Blue guy was making things shake. Can't get around that. Just let the kids be confused why the guy who sounds like shaking is never featured while a guy with a crazy name is shaking things up?
PoweredConvoy
They are as they always have.
It's just Hasbro who has decided to change things up recently to match their version of the cartoon.
It'd almost be like if TakaraTomy decided to start calling Skywarp Thundercracker and vice versa due to an animation mistake.
Frenzy has always been the blue guy for Japan and Rumble the red guy, and until recently that was true for Hasbro too. So TakaraTomy probably sees it as something that would confuse their customers so decides not to do it. It's not like Frenzy was Fumiko and Rumble Rumiko and they changed their names to their English counterparts – they've always been the same as their English counterparts so any kind of switch would just add to the confusion.
