Too bad these will be about $30 and people won't complain half as much as they do about the Hasbro versions.
!
No poorly-adhering stickers? No tumorous minicon ports glued on? Back to traditional Takara metallic paint jobs? Halle-fuckin'-lujah, the long night is over.
Hmm, I like the look of Jazz. Optimus, with the very metallic deco, looks more like a store or convention exclusive that's being offered at retail in Japan. It does look nice though, and if I'm to own a version of this mold I think I'm good with this version over the Hasbro one. Looks like I'll be keeping these preorders at BBTS, or just switching to eToys come December. Cool. Though I get where this comment is coming from (and I don't blame you or others for feeling this way, even though I personally have been enjoying the microns in Prime and wouldn't mind the stickers if they'd just plan their application much better than they have so far)...I do find this a bit hilarious in general since the fandom was hardly over the moon for the metallic decos used in Takara's Animated lines and even in some of the United figures. Very different contexts going on in each scenario, I know...but rejoicing the return of metallic decos is something I still find amusing.
And as I was writing that I realized that irony. Takara's metallic paintjobs have been a mixed bag, for sure. They were terribly out of place on the Animated figures (for which flat plastic better represented the cel-painted look), but I enjoyed them on the WFC and FE Prime figures. I think they work well on characters whose on-screen representations are CG, as the glossiness is more justified. Sometimes the metallics are gaudy, but after the figures had "aged" a bit for me, I found I really liked the metallic Takara versions of a lot of characters. They felt a bit more collector-oriented to me.
My first time with these moulds. Hopefully we get a nice surprise and the plastics been been filled out and not the same hollow crap from Hasbro, but if not, the colour scheme is impressive enough.
